Jin came to a stop just before reaching the front door.
His Observation Haki was warning him.
He raised his head toward the wooden door and carefully sensed the presences outside.
“They came straight to my house, huh?
Two presences.”
“There’s a huge difference in strength.
Satoru Gojo is here.”
Jin took two steps backward, showing absolutely no intention of opening the door.
Outside, Gojo also noticed something strange.
The brilliant blue eyes hidden beneath his black blindfold looked forward.
Through the wooden door, he “saw” Jin stop walking and begin retreating farther inside.
“He noticed us?
Pretty sharp.
But I didn’t expose my presence.”
Gojo glanced sideways at Megumi beside him.
The meaning behind the look was obvious.
Megumi lightly shook his head, indicating that he hadn’t been the one to expose them either.
Gojo tilted his head and sighed.
“Can’t be helped.
I really didn’t want to do this.”
He slipped both hands into his pockets, took a slight step back, and kicked the wooden door.
BANG!
The door was violently kicked open.
The instant the two sides saw each other, Jin formed his left hand into the shape of a pistol.
A bullet of flame shot directly from his fingertip toward Gojo.
Boom!
Black smoke rose as scorching air rushed past Gojo and spread behind him.
Megumi raised an arm in front of himself and looked warily into the house.
Gojo waved one hand to disperse the black smoke in front of him and spoke helplessly.
“Wow.
That’s not a very friendly greeting.”
The legendary Limitless cursed technique.
Even seeing it with his own eyes, Jin still found it difficult to believe.
It was practically the same as turning on an invincibility cheat.
Looking at the completely unharmed Gojo, Jin slowly lowered his left hand to his side.
“If you break into someone’s home, be prepared to get attacked.”
He could have simply behaved himself and followed Gojo.
But that was…
the mindset of a loser.
Something obtained too easily inevitably felt cheap.
The current main quest only required Jin to join Jujutsu High.
There would probably be further rewards for raising his sorcerer grade afterward.
Jin needed to display as much potential and strength as possible, increasing his value in Gojo’s eyes.
Of course, that was only part of it.
The biggest reason was that Jin himself had never been the obedient type.
He wanted to test whether the strongest modern sorcerer, Satoru Gojo, had any way to bypass elementalization and actually hurt him.
Cursed energy itself had different properties.
Aside from a few special types of cursed energy, however, the differences usually weren’t very pronounced.
In Gojo’s perception, the cursed energy inside the young man before him carried a scorching quality.
There was no doubt about it.
This was the wild sorcerer who had been active recently.
Looking at Jin’s guarded stance, Gojo suddenly smiled.
“You don’t even know who I am…
That’s actually a good thing.”
Satoru Gojo, the strongest jujutsu sorcerer.
There was practically nobody in the jujutsu world who didn’t know his name.
Since the boy in front of him didn’t even recognize Gojo, his technique had probably only awakened recently.
His understanding of the jujutsu world also seemed to be completely blank.
Pretending not to recognize Gojo was actually a decent test of Jin’s acting skills.
Jin frowned, orange flames igniting around his left fist.
“Not planning to explain yourselves?
Then I guess you’re here looking for trouble.”
The room temperature rose slightly.
Gojo stared at Jin’s fist for a moment.
“Your personality matches your ability.
You’ve got plenty of character.
I don’t dislike it.”
He rubbed his chin thoughtfully.
“Explaining everything would be too much trouble, so I’ll give you two choices.”
Gojo raised his index finger toward Jin.
“First, you come with me right now.”
He raised another finger and glanced back at Megumi.
“Second, I beat you up, and my student carries you away.”
“So?
Which one do you pick?”
Gojo looked at Jin expectantly while loosening his arms as though preparing to fight.
Using a cursed technique in a residential area wasn’t convenient, so if he wanted to subdue the other party, he’d have to rely on hand-to-hand combat.
Jin extinguished the flames around his left fist.
“The first one.”
Gojo froze.
Even the warm-up movements he’d been doing came to a stop as he stared in surprise.
“Eh?
That’s not how this is supposed to go.”
He tilted his head, obvious disappointment in his voice.
“You’re supposed to reject both and attack me.
Isn’t that how it always goes in movies?”
Megumi couldn’t stop himself from commenting from behind Gojo.
“What kind of third-rate movie has that plot?”
Jin raised a hand and pointed toward the floor.
“Are you an idiot?
This is my house.”
His golden eyes lifted and stared straight toward the eyes hidden behind Gojo’s blindfold.
“Don’t use that ability that keeps my attacks away from you.
Fight me.
If you win, I’ll go with you.”
Gojo raised an eyebrow.
“Oh?
Fine by me.
Though that’s basically the same as choosing option two.”
He paused, his tone growing casual.
“Just so you know, among people with special abilities like yours…
I’m the strongest.”
“Even without using my cursed technique, I can beat you up pretty easily~”
Jin picked up the phone on the table, put it into his pocket, and walked toward the entrance.
“Enough talking.
Fighting here isn’t convenient.
Let’s go somewhere else.”
Gojo’s smile widened unconsciously as he thought to himself.
‘This brat…
I pulled an SSR.’
He glanced over Jin’s bare upper body with some confusion.
“You’re not putting on a shirt?”
Jin lightly shook his head, an excited smile appearing on his face.
“Hurry up.
Don’t make me build this up too much.”
Seeing how eager Jin was to fight, Gojo laughed and casually waved a hand.
“Hahaha!
Suit yourself.”
He scratched the back of his head and stepped away from the doorway.
“Ah!
I completely forgot to introduce myself.”
“I’m Satoru Gojo, the first-year homeroom teacher at Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical College.”
Jin stepped over the threshold and left the house.
“You came all the way to my front door.
I don’t need to introduce myself, do I?”
Gojo paused.
He vaguely remembered Ijichi mentioning the name.
But who bothered remembering unimportant details like that?
“Don’t be like that…”
When it became clear that Jin had no intention of answering, Gojo could only turn his head toward Megumi beside him.
“Megumi, what did Ijichi say his name was again?”
Megumi answered immediately.
“Kazahaya Jin.”
Gojo turned his attention back toward Jin.
“Then, Kazahaya-kun—”
Jin immediately raised a hand and interrupted him.
“Just call me Jin.
Don’t use the surname.”
Jin had chosen the name “Jin” himself.
As for the surname, the system had randomly generated it.
He felt absolutely no attachment to it.
Being addressed by the surname just felt weird.
Gojo looked at Jin thoughtfully.
Rejecting being called by his surname…
It felt as though there might be some history behind that.
He didn’t pay much attention to it and continued.
“Then let’s go.
I pick the location.
Any objections?”
Jin rolled his neck, producing a series of crisp cracks from his joints.
“Whatever.”
Watching the scene, Megumi couldn’t help feeling like he was witnessing two elementary-school kids arranging a fight after class.
What the hell was this?
He lowered his head and played with his phone, thoroughly uninterested.
The result of this fight was completely predictable.
Against Gojo-sensei, forget a rookie sorcerer.
Even an experienced Grade 1 or a Special Grade wouldn’t make much difference.
They’d only end up getting crushed.
