As soon as Jade saw that Cain and Tara had gone upstairs, he pulled out his phone and made a call.
The line connected quickly, and a female voice answered almost immediately.
“Yes, Young Master,” the woman said respectfully.
“Oh, hello Harriet.
Cain instructed me to tell you to come to the villa in the main area of City A.
You can bring your things with you since you’ll be staying here from now on,” Jade said directly, not bothering to beat around the bush.
“Yes, Young Master.
I’ll be there shortly,” Harriet replied politely.
Jade ended the call and lowered his phone just as he heard footsteps descending from the stairs.
“Oh?
You’re back already, Mr.
Lover Boy,” Jade teased playfully.
“Cut the crap and tell me if you did what I told you,” Cain replied calmly.
“I absolutely did, and she’ll be here soon.
But how exactly are you going to explain Harriet’s presence in your house, Mr.
Dominating?” Jade teased again.
Cain merely glanced at him before calmly walking toward the couch and sitting down.
“If you’re done with your nonsense,” Cain said indifferently, “then tell me the situation with our people.”
Jade ignored the question entirely.
“By the way, where’s Tara?
And why is she upstairs alone?”
Cain looked at him carefully before replying in a calm voice.
“It seems you’re more interested in Tara than I am.
Why didn’t you volunteer to be her lover instead of me?”
He spoke nonchalantly while staring ahead at nothing in particular.
Jade sighed helplessly at the comment.
“I’ll answer that later, but I actually have to go somewhere important right now,” he said while checking his phone.
“Mind walking me out, bro?”
Cain looked at him calmly, clearly about to decline, but before he could say anything, Tara suddenly descended the stairs.
She stopped midway and called out softly.
“Cain, can you go out and buy food please?
I’m hungry.”
Cain looked up at her.
“Why don’t you come over here and we can order like we did earlier?” he suggested while patting the empty spot beside him.
Tara immediately shook her head.
“No.
I want you to go buy something.
Oh, and also buy me pastries from the bakery we saw on our way here… pleaseee,” she pleaded gently.
Cain sighed in resignation before standing up.
Let’s go,” he said while walking toward the front door.
Then he looked back at Tara.
“And Tara, don’t go outside.
I won’t be long.”
With that, the two brothers stepped out, and Jade closed the door behind them.
The second they left, Tara hurried back into the kitchen where the shattered glass still remained.
Carefully, making sure not to cut herself again, she cleaned every last piece before washing her hands.
Once she was done, she returned to the sitting room and turned on the television.
Meanwhile, Cain and Jade walked in silence toward the parking area outside the villa district.
Cars weren’t allowed directly inside the villa properties, so they had to park in a designated section nearby.
The atmosphere between the brothers remained calm and quiet until they stepped outside the gate.
They both paused for a moment and looked back at the villa where Tara was staying.
“Do you think she’ll be fine all alone?” Jade asked curiously.
“She will,” Cain replied calmly.
“Other than the fact that she hates being controlled, I haven’t noticed her being disobedient when you ask her politely.”
Before Jade could respond, a soft female voice interrupted them from the neighboring gate.
“Oh my… it’s you, the sir from the airport.”
Cain looked toward the girl and immediately recalled the encounter from earlier that day.
Without saying a single word, he gave her a cold glance before walking straight toward the car.
Jade felt awkward about Cain’s attitude and quickly tried to ease the atmosphere.
“Hi there.
I’m Jade, and you are?”
“Oh, how rude of me.
I’m Anika,” the girl introduced herself with a smile while pointing toward the neighboring villa gate.
“I live next door.”
“Oh, that’s nice.
I apologize for my brother’s rudeness.
He’s just not the social type,” Jade said apologetically.
“Oh… he’s your brother?” Anika asked, visibly interested.
“Yep, he is.”
“So, do you live around here too?” she asked curiously.
“Not really.
My older brother lives here, but I come by from time to time.”
“Oh, that’s nice,” Anika replied before hesitating slightly.
“Do you mind telling me your brother’s name?”
A faint blush appeared on her cheeks.
Jade noticed immediately and almost laughed.
Before he could answer, the horn of Cain’s car suddenly sounded.
That was when he remembered Cain was already waiting inside.
“Sorry, Miss Anika, but I have to go.
Before she could even respond, he was already walking toward the driver’s seat.
Jade got into the car and fastened his seatbelt.
“Sorry, bro.
I just wanted to ease the atmosphere after you walked away like that,” he explained while starting the engine.
Cain didn’t even bother looking at him.
“Mind your own business when it comes to conversations with strangers,” he said calmly.
“Huh?
I had a feeling you were listening to the conversation,” Jade replied, amused.
“That’s not the point.”
“Then what is?” Jade asked teasingly.
Cain finally looked at him.
“You can tell people about yourself if you want,” he said coldly, “but leave me out of it.
I hope I’ve made myself clear.”
“Okay, bro.
I get it.” Jade chuckled lightly before adding mischievously, “But I’m not gonna lie, the lady next door is actually pretty.”
Cain looked at him calmly before replying,
“You know what’s more interesting?
When someone who’s neither your true lover nor even close enough to be called an acquaintance is living in your house while the two of you play house.”
The comment instantly shut Jade up.
The rest of the drive continued in silence.
“So where am I dropping off the big boss?” Jade finally asked playfully.
“Just drop me at the bakery on Main Street.”
“Got it.”
A few minutes later, they arrived at the bakery.
Cain got out of the car and informed Jade that they would talk later before walking into the bakery alone.
Once inside, he pulled out his phone and texted his driver to pick him up there.
Then he walked to the counter and ordered one piece of every cake available along with several healthy drinks.
By the time he stepped outside with the bags, his driver had already arrived.
Cain placed everything into the car before heading back to the villa.
When he arrived at the gate, he got out and carefully sorted through the bags before walking toward the entrance.
Just as he reached the gate, he noticed Anika standing nearby.
She immediately approached him.
“Hey, do you need help?” she asked while stepping a little too close.
As she reached out for the bags, her hand brushed against his, making it seem almost as though they were touching intentionally.
And coincidentally, at that exact moment, Tara happened to be standing by the large glass window inside the villa, staring directly toward the gate.
