The Master of Distraction

Killer Maid’s Pride

The sound of the Baron’s boots was like a rhythmic death knell against the cold stone outside.

"Mochi, get back in the basket! Hops, under the pillows—don't move, don't breathe, and for the love of the Gods, stop twitching your tail!" Elara hissed, her voice a frantic whisper.

She scrambled to her feet, her legs feeling like jelly after the 'Purge' . With a desperate swipe, she smoothed her apron, but there was no ignoring the glow. Her skin looked airbrushed, her eyes were bright, and her 'Morning Surprise' was still stubbornly refusing to stand down, creating a very obvious, very un-maid-like silhouette beneath her skirt.

The heavy iron handle of the vault door began to turn.

H.U.D. URGENT ALERT:

Status: Post-Coital Radiance (Charisma +50, Stealth -100).

Detection Risk: CRITICAL.

Current Buff: 'The All-Hearing Ear' (Active). 'Shadow Stealth' can not be activated whilst [Post-Coital Radiance] remains in effect.

Through her newly acquired passive skill, Elara didn't just hear the door open; she heard the Baron’s heavy, wheezing breath, the jingle of the keys on his belt, and even the rustle of his silk doublet. Not that knowing any of that helped her currently.

The door swung wide. Baron Vane stepped in, a man who looked like a collection of expensive ham held together by a gold-trimmed vest.

"Ah, my Lucky Charm," he boomed, his voice echoing painfully in Elara’s sensitive ears. He stopped dead, his small, piggy eyes landing on Elara instead of the cage. "Who are you? And why does my vault smell like... musk and stale incense?"

Elara dropped into a deep, sweeping curtsy—partly out of professional habit, but mostly to hide the protrusion in her skirt.

"Service with a smile, Excellency!" she chirped, her voice trembling slightly. "I am Elara, the new Senior Sanitization Specialist. I was just... performing a deep-tissue dusting of the pillows. They were positively teeming with aristocratic dander."

The Baron narrowed his eyes, stepping closer. "Sanitization? Since when does the help glow like a holy relic? And why is the Rabbit silent?"

He looked toward the cage. Hops was buried under a mountain of silk, but one long, white ear was sticking out, still vibrating with post-coital bliss.

"The Lucky Charm is... meditating, Excellency," Elara blurted out. She needed a distraction, fast. Her hand drifted to the silver serving tray resting on the side table. "Perhaps the Baron is hungry? A midnight snack to celebrate your growing hoards?"

She grabbed a silver dessert spoon with the grace of a master assassin and balanced it on her finger.

"I have been told my... 'service'... is quite unforgettable," she said, leaning forward just enough to be suggestive, her 'Predator' pheromones doing the heavy lifting.

The Baron’s greed was momentarily warred with by his lust. He looked at Elara’s flushed face, then at the curious lump under her apron. "What's that... er, you're hiding under there, girl?"

"It's a... er, my rolling pin! In case I'm called to the kitchen for... um... pastry emergencies," Elara replied, her heart hammering like a drum in her own ears, feeling less convinced with her explanation than the Baron.

H.U.D. PROMPT:

[ CHOICE BARK ]:

1. Use 'Blinding Shine' (Polish the tray to blind him).

2. Use 'Accidental Spill' (Dump the silver to create a noise distraction for Hops to move).

3. Lean into the 'Fetish' (Use the Baron’s beastkin interest against him).

Elara glanced at the cage. Hops’ ear gave a desperate twitch. The Baron was moving toward the pillows. If he saw the rabbit-kin’s dazed, 'claimed' expression, the game was up.

"Wait!" Elara cried, holding up a silver spoon like a holy icon. "Excellency! Before you count your gold... have you ever seen a maid perform the 'Dance of the Twelve Utensils'?"

The Baron paused, his hand inches from the silk pillows where Hops was currently trying to dissolve into the fabric. He turned, his jowls quivering with a mix of suspicion and perverted curiosity. "The Dance of the Twelve Utensils? I’ve heard of the Seven Veils, but this... is this some new custom from the Capital?"

"It is the pinnacle of domestic service, Excellency," Elara lied through her teeth, her heart hammering. "A display of... dexterity and precision."

H.U.D. OBJECTIVE:

Task: Perform the 'Dance of the Twelve Utensils.' ( you said it, blame yourself )

Goal: Keep the Baron’s eyes on you for 180 seconds.

Bonus: Integrate Silverware for a 2.5x XP Multiplier.

Elara swept a hand across the sideboard, her fingers closing around a set of silver dinner forks, steak knives, and soup spoons. With a flick of her wrist the utensils began to blur.

She didn't just juggle them; she turned them into a lethal, gleaming vortex. Using her 'Prim and Proper' training, she spun on her heel, the silver reflecting the candlelight in a dizzying strobe effect that forced the Baron to squint.

"Watch closely," she purred, her voice dropping into that husky, 'claimed' register. She tossed a steak knife high into the air, caught it with the tip of a fork, and balanced a soup spoon on her nose while dropping into a split.

The movement was elegant, but it was also a desperate struggle. Her 'Rolling Pin' was currently acting as a stabilizer, and every time she spun, she prayed the Baron thought the rustle of her petticoats was just "artistic flair."

The Baron was mesmerized. He stepped away from the cage, his mouth slightly agape as Elara performed a backflip, sending all twelve pieces of silverware into the air simultaneously.

"Magnificent..." the Baron wheezed, his tiny eyes tracking the spinning silver.

"And for the finale!" Elara cried. She caught the silver serving tray and held it aloft. Thanks to her Auditory Sensitivity, she heard the exact moment Hops finally scrambled out from under the pillows and slipped behind a heavy velvet curtain, silent as a ghost.

Clatter-clink!

Elara landed with the silverware perfectly arranged back on the tray in a neat, symmetrical pattern. She was panting, her face flushed, her 'Predator' aura practically vibrating off her skin.

H.U.D. FEEDBACK:

Performance Rating: S-RANK (Cleanliness preserved!)

Reward: +500 XP.

Effect:Baron Vane is [Dazed].

"I... I have never seen such... service," the Baron stammered, wiping sweat from his brow. He looked at Elara, then at the tray, his greed for the silver competing with his desire for the maid. "Come here, girl. I think I have a 'bonus' for such a dedicated worker."

Elara’s ears twitched. She heard Hops' heartbeat steadying behind the curtain, and Mochi’s pulse racing in the laundry basket.

"Actually, Excellency," Elara said, her eyes glinting with a cold, professional light as she gripped a silver butter knife hidden in her palm. "I’m here to collect..."
