The Saintly Serpent

Killer Maid’s Pride

The Great Cathedral of the Eternal Light was a marvel of white marble and stained glass, smelling of high-grade incense and the kind of "purity" that made Elara’s skin crawl. Thanks to her new, heavy-duty undergarments, Elara moved with a stiff, graceful precision. She looked every bit the elite guest server, carrying a silver tray laden with delicate finger sandwiches and a porcelain tea set.

Inside, her All-Hearing Ear was picking up the terrifyingly loud clink of spoons and the low, buzzing hum of dozens of aristocrats gossiping.

"Stay sharp, Mochi," Elara whispered into the tiny communication crystal hidden in her earring. "Hops, give me a heartbeat count."

"Clear, Master," Hops’ voice crackled back. "But watch out. There’s one heartbeat near the altar that’s... different. It’s slow. Heavy. Like a predator pretending to be a sheep."

Elara adjusted her grip on the silver tray and entered the solar. There, bathed in the "holy" glow of a sun-catcher window, sat Bishop Vale.

Vale was a man who radiated a curated warmth. He had silver hair, a gentle smile, and hands that looked like they had never touched a day’s work in their lives. But as Elara approached to serve his tea, the H.U.D. flickered with a warning.

H.U.D. ANALYSIS:

Target: Bishop Vale.

Aura: [Sanctified Corruption]

Warning: High-level magical wards detected. Direct assassination via traditional blades will trigger a Cathedral-wide alarm.

"Ah, a new face," the Bishop said, his voice smooth and melodic. He looked Elara up and down, his eyes lingering just a second too long on her waistline. "The Guild promised their most... capable server. You carry yourself with a certain... weight, child."

Elara didn't flinch. She poured the tea with a steady hand, the silver pot glinting. "I take my service very seriously, Excellency. I believe in being... prepared for any appetite."

"Good, good," Vale chuckled, taking a sip. "Because tonight, we have much to celebrate. The 'shipment' from the northern woods is arriving. Strong, healthy stock. The fighting pits haven't seen such specimens in years."

Behind him, standing like a statue of cold steel, was the Wolf-kin Knight, Fen. Her gray ears were flattened against her head, her yellow eyes fixed on a point in the distance. Elara felt a surge of 'Predator' recognition. Fen wasn't a guard; she was a prisoner in armor.

As Elara turned to leave, her 'Persistent Growth' gave an insistent throb against the reinforced linen of her new shorts. It was uncomfortable, restrictive, and made her miss her lace.

The Bishop’s Gala was in full swing, a cacophony of tinkling glass and high-society laughter that made Elara’s Auditory Sensitivity feel like someone was playing a drum set inside her skull. She needed a break from the noise—and more importantly, she needed to check the structural integrity of her "industrial" corset.

She slipped into the silver-polishing room, a quiet, windowless chamber filled with the scent of lemon oil and tarnished metal.

"Master, the Bishop just moved to the private balcony," Mochi’s voice crackled through the earpiece. "He’s talking to a slave trader. I’m in the vents, but I can’t get a clear shot with the 'Holy Barrier' active. It’s like trying to shoot through a brick wall of pure smugness."

"Copy that," Elara whispered, leaning against a heavy oak table. She let out a long, shaky breath, her hands trembling as she adjusted her server’s vest. "Hops, what’s the perimeter?"

"Five guards in the hall, Master," Hops whispered. "But... wait. One heartbeat is stopping at your door. It’s heavy. It’s... oh no. It’s the Wolf."

Elara barely had time to straighten her apron before the door creaked open. Fen stepped inside, her gray-furred ears twitching. She didn't look like a knight right now; she looked like a tired woman carrying the weight of a thousand sins. She closed the door behind her and leaned against it, her yellow eyes locking onto Elara.

"You aren't a server," Fen said, her voice a low, gravelly rasp. "Your pulse is too steady for a maid, and your scent..." She took a deep breath, her nostrils flaring. "You smell like shadows. And you smell like a pack."

Elara didn't reach for a knife—she knew the Bishop’s wards would fry her the moment she drew steel. Instead, she picked up a heavy silver polishing cloth and a large dinner spoon. "I'm just a girl trying to make a living in a very dusty world, Sir Knight."

Fen stepped closer, her armor clinking softly. She stopped inches from Elara, her height making the room feel suddenly very small. "Don't lie to a Wolf. I can smell the pheromones on you. You have a thief and a scout in your service. And I can smell...this."

Fen’s gaze dropped to Elara’s waistline. The 'Industrial' shorts were doing their best, but the intense proximity of a powerful female warrior was causing Elara’s 'Persistent Growth' to thrum with a violent, predatory energy.

"The Bishop has a collar on me," Fen whispered, her stoic mask finally cracking. "A magical contract. Every time he hurts my kin, I have to stand there and watch. I’ve been looking for a 'Predator' strong enough to break the chain. But I didn't expect to find one wearing lace and carrying a tea set."

Elara felt the 'Pride' mana in her blood surge. This wasn't just a conversation; it was a challenge. Her 'Morning Wood' throbbed so hard the whalebone in her corset groaned.

"You want out?" Elara asked, her voice dropping into that dark, commanding register that usually accompanied a 'Claiming.'

"I want a new Master," Fen growled, her own tail giving a sharp, involuntary wag. "One who bites back."

H.U.D. URGENT PROMPT:

New Potential Pride Member: Fen (The Disgraced Knight).

Bonding Method: Override the Bishop’s Contract with a 'Predator’s Mark.'

Warning: This will require a 'High-Intensity Release.'

Elara looked at the door, then back at the towering Wolf-kin. She reached out, her fingers catching the edge of Fen’s steel breastplate.

"Mochi, Hops... go dark," Elara commanded into the earpiece. "I’m about to perform a... 'deep-clean' on the Bishop’s security."

She turned the heavy brass bolt on the door, locking them in. The silver-polishing room was about to live up to its name because Elara was about to show the Wolf exactly how 'Proper' her Predator class could be.
