Xie Youci lay flat on his back on the bed.

He tilted his chin upward, looking somewhat defeated as he stared at the ceiling before closing his eyes, his Adam’s apple bobbing up and down.

Xie Youci’s voice was hoarse, “Do you have any idea what it means not to provoke a man who’s just woken up in the morning?”

Chi Yang: ?

She didn’t understand.

She shook her head.

She even reached out and gave Xie Youci a little push, “Do we have any baby death bags or something like that at home?”

Xie Youci glanced at her out of the corner of his eye with a complicated expression.

Chi Yang blinked at him, “I think we do, right? When the wedding house was being decorated, your parents had someone send some over? Are they in the drawer? Let me look—”

As she spoke, she climbed up.

She tried to reach over Xie Youci to search.

But as soon as she got up, before she could even touch the drawer, she felt like she had brushed against something strange.

The moment the electric current surged through them.

Both of them froze abruptly.

Even Chi Yang, who hadn’t understood the meaning of Xie Youci’s earlier words, was petrified in place.

And Xie Youci, who had been holding back and maintaining his defenses, completely broke down at that moment. He tilted his chin upward, closed his eyes, and let out a low, tense sigh.

“Chi… Er… Er—”

Chi Yang’s face flushed bright red almost instantly!

She was like a crab that had just been thrown into a pot, jumping up as a rosy hue spread all over her body.

“I… I… I…”

Chi Yang hurriedly scrambled off him, her face red as she clutched the blanket tightly, trying to defend herself, “I really didn’t mean to…”

Xie Youci lay on his back without responding.

He slowly raised his hand, his knuckles clearly defined as his fingers ran through his hair, his knuckles gradually tightening as he gripped it, the veins on the back of his broad hand faintly pulsing.

Chi Yang nervously looked down at him.

She saw his prominent Adam’s apple bobbing up and down, his lips slightly parted. Though he made no sound, the way they opened and closed as he swallowed exuded a deadly allure!

Xie Youci seemed to be calming himself, holding back.

After a long while, he finally lifted his eyelids, his deep, dark eyes fixed on Chi Yang.

“Are you… okay?” she asked timidly.

After all, it was her fault, and Xie Youci was the one suffering, making her feel guilty even trying to defend herself.

Xie Youci let out a cold, mocking laugh, “What do you think?”

“…I think you’re probably fine.” Chi Yang worriedly hugged the blanket and scooted back a little.

Now, she didn’t even need to pretend.

The atmosphere in the bedroom was charged.

Although nothing had happened the night before, the earlier incident had left a lingering sense of intimacy.

It was truly a fatal provocation…

“Ding-dong—”

Just then, the doorbell rang downstairs.

Chi Yang now felt that her in-laws had become her saviors. She rubbed her slightly burning ears, “Um… your parents seem to be here.”

Xie Youci let out a tense “Mm” in response.

He pressed down on the blanket and sat up, one arm propping him up on the bed. The muscles of his taut forearm were smooth and firm, the scent of testosterone practically hitting her in the face.

For the first time, Chi Yang felt that.

When Xie Youci wasn’t being annoying, he actually had a certain masculine charm…

But she quickly averted her gaze, hurriedly threw off the blanket, and got out of bed. She walked around to Xie Youci’s side of the bed, pulled open the drawer, and sure enough, she saw the baby death bags. Her face flushed even redder. “I, I’ll take a few out and leave them outside, to pretend we did that…”

“Mhm.” Xie Youci’s voice remained low and husky.

He sat for a few more moments to calm down, only getting out of bed after he had regained his composure. “I’ll go open the door.”

Chi Yang still kept her head lowered, not daring to look at him.

She fumbled clumsily and awkwardly with the outer packaging, feeling as if the cardboard box and the plastic wrap outside were both as hot as burning coals.

“Click—”

The sound of the door lock came from behind.

Chi Yang thought Xie Youci had left, and in frustration, she stomped her bare feet wildly on the carpet.

But she forgot that the first click of the lock should have been the door opening.

The second click would have meant he had already left.

Hearing the “tap-tap-tap” of Chi Yang’s stomping, Xie Youci lazily tilted his head to glance over, then let out a faint, careless chuckle.

This was already the second time she had actively crawled into his bed.

And she had rubbed against him like that.

Yet she still refused to admit she liked him?

Tsk.

But Xie Youci, mindful of the girl’s pride, didn’t bother to expose her, nor did he remind her that she had started stomping a bit too early. Silently, he slipped his hands into his pockets, turned, and went downstairs to open the door.

Meanwhile, outside the Xizi Bay villa.

Su Jinyue and Xie Xiangming had rung the bell and waited for quite a while, but the newlywed couple had yet to come and open the door.

“Honey,”

Su Jinyue said somewhat unhappily, “do you think we might be turned away today?”

She had deliberately not called Xie Youci before coming.

As his mother, she knew him well—if she had given advance notice, Xie Youci would have had eight hundred reasons to stop her.

But Su Jinyue had been raised with impeccable manners.

She really wanted to visit Xizi Bay, but she also felt that even as a mother, she shouldn’t just show up unannounced. She should at least give a heads-up, so she had called Chi Yang in advance.

Chi Yang had said they were at Xizi Bay.

But…

The information from the auction house suggested that Chi Yang had been living at Hua Banli all along, which couldn’t be entirely false.

Xie Xiangming, however, was quite certain. “We won’t be turned away.”

Although he could tell that Chi Yang didn’t have any romantic sparks for his son, still…

“Er Er has never been good at lying since she was little.” He had a basic understanding of her character.

Su Jinyue nodded in agreement. “That’s true.”

So the two of them stood outside and waited a little longer.

A few minutes later, the door indeed opened. The couple looked up to see Xie Youci leaning lazily against the doorframe with his hands in his pockets, lifting his sleepy eyes to glance at them.

“You two, instead of enjoying your weekend as a couple, you come barging in early in the morning to disturb my sleep?”

Su Jinyue pushed past him with a mix of affection and annoyance. “We’re not here to see you. Where’s Er Er?”

“She’s still asleep,” Xie Youci replied dismissively.

He lazily straightened up to let them pass, then followed them inside with a bored expression.

But unexpectedly,

as soon as he turned around, he was met with a warm, soft embrace, followed by a sweet, fragrant scent that invaded his senses.

Xie Youci slowly lowered his gaze.

His eyes met a pair of shimmering, captivating ones. Chi Yang’s eyes seemed to drown in tender spring water, and when she looked at him, they seemed to hook him like a lure. “Good morning—”

Even her melodious voice tugged at his reason.

Chi Yang reached out and wrapped her arm around Xie Youci’s, tilting her head to rest on his shoulder. “Husband~”
