Harry helped Dobby settle into the manor.
The elf was almost too excited to start working for the great Harry Potter sir.
There were special quarters available for house elves in the basement of the manor.
The quarters were built as per what the elves liked and suited them.
Dobby was very thrilled and happy to find his new living space.
He kept on thanking Harry continuously with sometimes tears brimming from his eyes.
After a good deal of hassle and lighthearted arguing with Dobby, Harry finally managed to convince him to shorten the address.
They ultimately agreed on Harry sir.
It was far more comfortable for Harry compared to the address of the great Harry Potter sir.
Dobby immediately wanted to get to work, but he quickly realized that the manor required no cleaning or organizing, as the ancient runes had already handled the heavy lifting.
Furthermore, he could not even begin cooking or gardening in the surrounding lands without any supplies.
Understanding the situation, Harry handed Dobby a handful of coins and tasked him with stocking the kitchen and procuring whatever plants he desired for the grounds.
Harry left all the arrangements of his manor in the elf’s house who promised that he would definitely impress Harry sir.
With Dobby gone to the markets, Harry stood alone in his room.
It was time for the next step.
As he was contemplating, in one corner, he saw Hedwig, his most faithful companion, perched on a beautiful stand he had unearthed from the manor’s stores.
Harry could not quite pinpoint it yet, but Hedwig had changed.
He was sure about it.
Though the affection and the bond between them remained as strong as ever, she was appearing significantly more intelligent to Harry.
Even before Harry’s transformation, Hedwig had been the most perceptive owl Harry had ever known.
But now she was appearing almost conscious.
It was as if she was understanding every word he was speaking.
In the Peverell memories, Harry had found a wealth of information regarding owls, magical bonds with animals, and the nature of familiars.
Yet none of it perfectly explained Hedwig’s recent shift.
He shook his head to clear his thoughts, deciding to focus on the task at hand for now.
He waved his hand and cast a powerful Glamour Charm on himself.
His appearance altered and he now looked like a middle aged man.
He had no intention of being caught roaming Diagon Alley by the public, especially not by any of Dumbledore’s stooges.
He realized now how foolish he had been during his earlier visits, thinking a simple hood was enough to hide his identity.
It had been pure luck that no one had noticed Harry Potter wandering through the streets.
With the glamour firmly in place, Harry Potter disapparated, vanishing from the manor in a blur of motion.
When he reappeared, he was appearing directly on the very footsteps of the gates leading into Gringotts Wizarding Bank. Visit g.com for the full chapter.
It was the closest location any wizard could apparate to the bank.
A single step closer and the powerful wards of Gringotts would come into effect.
And if he tried forcefully, the wards would rip him apart.
Well, given his power, if Harry wished, he could bypass the wards but you get the gist of it.
Harry moved with a quick pace, marching into the massive hall with newfound confidence.
Two weeks ago, he had walked these floors as a scared, anxious and an uncertain child.
But now, he was a completely different man.
Last time, he had no idea what his legacy entailed or what his duties were, but now he was knowledgeable.
Last time, he was weak and would jump at the faintest sound, but now he was powerful.
His arsenal of magical spells was likely the largest in all of magical Britain.
Furthermore, the innocent boy with no political acumen was gone.
While he was still technically inexperienced, he had become a shrewd strategist overnight.
The three Peverell brothers had been founding members of the society that eventually became magical Britain, and they were seasoned politicians in their own right.
Combined with their wisdom were the memories of Voldemort.
The man was a master manipulator who had fooled dozens of ancient and powerful pure blood families into following a half blood.
While Voldemort’s raw power had been the main source of his dominance, his political cunning could not be ignored.
It was another of the benefits of having experienced Voldemort’s life.
Harry walked through the atrium of Gringotts.
He was greeted by the familiar sight of goblins meticulously weighing gold and scribbling at ledgers with sharp quills.
He ignored the general hustle and moved toward a specific teller.
Runook was hunched over his desk, stamping parchment with rhythmic and aggressive thuds.
Harry approached the goblin and he cleared his throat and murmured, “Excuse me?”
The goblin looked up with a snarl.
“What?” Runook barked aggressively.
Harry did not reply verbal;ly.
He concentrated on the magic over his face and allowed the glamour to shimmer and fade just enough for the goblin to see the emerald eyes and the faint lightning bolt scar beneath the fringe of his hair.
Runook’s expression shifted instantly from irritation to professional alertness.
He straightened his waistcoat.
“Ah.
Yes,” he said.
“Follow me.” New chapters come out on novelping.com first.
As they walked toward the private corridors, Harry spoke in a low, respectful tone.
“Good morning, Mr.
Runook,” he greeted.
“May your gold flow in your vaults and blood drip from your blades.”
Runook stopped for a fraction of a second, his dark eyes widening in surprise.
While Harry had been polite during his previous visit, this was different.
Wizards were almost always disdainful of goblins, rarely offering a proper Good morning, let alone a traditional goblin greeting.
“Good morning, Mr.
Potter,” Runook replied, his voice carrying a new note of respect.
“May your vaults be filled with gold and your business flow like water.”
“It seems that in these two weeks you have gathered quite a bit of knowledge,” he remarked.
“Yes, Mr.
Runook,” Harry sighed, his gaze fixed ahead.
“I cannot remain ignorant forever.
Recent events have forced my hand, and while the process was difficult, it has been for the best.”
Runook nodded but remained silent as he led Harry into a familiar private meeting room.
It was the same room where Harry had first begun to realize the depth of his inheritance.
“Wait here, Mr.
Potter,” Runook stated.
“I will inform Sharptooth of your arrival immediately.”
Left alone, Harry took his seat on one of the chairs and exhaled slowly.
He was feeling the weight of the Peverell legacy and the clarity of Voldemort’s memories sitting in his mind.
He was also feeling a lot of other things that were approaching him.
Today, a lot of games end.
He would finally uncover how deep Dumbledore’s hands were in the Potter vaults and whether Molly Weasley was a willing thief or a manipulated pawn in the Headmaster’s grand design.
He would discover the depth of Dumbledore’s manipulation.
