The Academy was unusually quiet that morning.
No loud voices.
No laughter.
Today was the day of assignment.
Liebe stood among dozens of students in the main arena.
Sia beside him.
“Is everyone always this nervous?” he asked quietly.
“Because this decides everything,” she replied.
At the front stood a raised stone platform.
The instructors were already there.
Among them—Aurelion Weiss.
His eyes swept across the students.
Stopping on Liebe for only a moment.
But it was enough.
An elderly master stepped forward.
“Today, you will be assigned to one of the Academy’s four divisions.”
His voice echoed through the arena.
“Magic.”
“Melee Combat.”
“Support.”
“Mechanisms.”
A murmur spread.
“Each division contains five classes.”
Symbols appeared above the platform.
I.
II.
III.
IV.
V.
“First is foundation.”
“Fifth is elite.”
A pause.
“Those who complete the fifth class will join Moniyan’s military ranks.”
Liebe felt his chest tighten.

“Your division will be determined through combat.”
The arena tensed.
“Not by strength.”
The master narrowed his eyes.
“But by the nature of your energy.”
The matches began quickly.
Fire.
Metal.
Support fields.
Wind.
One by one, students revealed their paths.
Then his name was called.
Liebe stepped forward.
Across from him stood a tall boy with burning red eyes.
“Rein Carter.
Fire discipline.”
Liebe nodded silently.
His heart pounded.
“Begin.”
Flames erupted instantly.
Fast.
Aggressive.
Liebe barely dodged.
Heat scorched his face.
Too fast.
He raised his hand.
Nothing.
Rein was already closing in.
A strike.
Liebe twisted away.
Aurelion’s words echoed.

Allow it.
He exhaled.
Raised his hand again.
Warmth.
Quiet.
Real.
Light burst forth.
Not as an explosion.
As a stream.
Pure.
Controlled.
It pushed the flames back.
The crowd gasped.
Rein stumbled backward.
Liebe froze.
He had done it.
For the first time.
The match was stopped.
The master raised his hand.
A glowing symbol began forming above the arena.
Bright.
Clear.
But before it could fully appear— a flash concealed it.
“Results will be announced tomorrow.”
The crowd erupted in whispers.
Liebe stared upward.
Trying to understand.
But the symbol was gone.
As students began leaving, Aurelion passed by him.
Without stopping.
Leaving only one sentence behind.
“Now the real training begins.”
