(A/N: This will be a short Chapter, since my shoulders are injured by writing too much and am currently doing real-life stuff as well. I’ll be back soon so enjoy the Chapter.)
In the small bed of the shed, John and Lyra were still in an embrace with the warm blankets around them. The two would give each other lazy kisses and "good mornings" with the soft morning light outside the single window.
Aiko was already gone, claiming to the two that she’d be registering in the guild.
Naturally, the two soon pulled away from each other, getting their clothes in order before making their way outside. The village chief was there, clearing the snow in the path. They asked him about the location of the guild, but he merely pointed down the path.
"Just follow the signs. You two will find it eventually."
It was an odd response, but they thanked the old man and followed the signs. These were wooden signs with numbers and pointers in the path, deep into the settlement. Eventually, John and Lyra found themselves in the territory of the town in the Frostveil. Here, the people looked more like the ones of Alderia; common clothes such as tunics, jackets and trousers. The cold winter weather did not bother any of the people as they went about their day. Stalls could be found on either side of the street. Some had meat hanging from the roof or walls, while others sold winter clothing such as coats, boots and gloves. Weapon stalls were also found on the street, advertising spears, axes, shortswords and other various weapons.
Eventually the two came to a large building, which had a wooden sign hovering above the entrance.
Frostveil Guild,
it read.
Inside was a busy guild. Loud voices filled up the hall, where hunters and other adventurers occupied the long tables. Others brawled in drunken messes or read the notices that were pinned up in one of the walls. The smell of roasted meats and cheap ale filled the room.
Next to the wall with notices, there was a single counter. Behind it stood a receptionist, a calm looking woman with glasses and a tidy uniform. Aiko was not to be seen nearby, instead she was seen in a corner, eating a bowl of noodles quietly.
John and Lyra approached the receptionist.
"What brings you fine folk to the guild today?" The receptionist asked politely.
"We’re here to register." John responded.
Registering proved to be a fast process, though they had to list their classes. John signed down as a Mage and Lyra as a Thief. It would prove difficult to use their actual classes with the attention it would bring. Their licenses would most likely be revoked if they failed to complete at least one mission in a month.
"Right, now remember that if you fail to complete at least one mission within a month, your licenses will be revoked and you will be locked in a cell until you manage to do so." The receptionist warned them as she handed over their guild passes.
John was slightly relieved by this news, since the last thing he wanted to do was to return to the guild for each single mission.
The two approached the table that Aiko had been eating at. Her expression was sour the moment she saw them.
"Took you long enough, lovers." Aiko muttered.
John smirked at her. "Wanna tag along with us next time? You can, you know."
Lyra immediately turned her head to John’s direction. A look of loathing filled her face, a silent warning.
Aiko snorted. "No thanks. I’m only on your side for the reason of wanting to kill off the one that killed my master... as well as that Earth Mage."
She turned her gaze at Lyra. "Not to mention that she’s emitting strong yandere vibes, so no can do."
John blinked at the latter part, tilting his head to the side.
Aiko sighed. "It’s a thing common in Japan. It refers to a woman that becomes incredibly obsessed and possessive of a person she likes, to the point of becoming dangerous."
John took in this information for a second, before nodding. "Ahh, so it’s a term for obsessive women in Japan. Got it."
He turned to the two. "Right, shall we go and find a cave?" Both Lyra and Aiko gave a nod, before the three of them stood up and exited the guild in unison.
