"Mmm~ Hmhmm~" Arthur hummed like the innocent boy he was, watching his ’wife’ get operated on through the one-way glass.
It wasn’t a pleasant sight, but these doctors used magic and other gadgets that didn’t exist in his old world. He was sure she’d be fine.
On that note, it was time for the bi-minute vomit.
"Bleghhh..."
He puked into a trash can before moving it aside.
Yep. He had figured out that he wasn’t very good with blood and guts. He even had two nurses keeping an eye on him so he wouldn’t faint or do something stupid.
Anyhow, since he finally had some time to himself, Arthur wanted to check something.
He had played a bunch of games growing up, and he had also read plenty of manhwa. He had seen some system pop-ups earlier, and if his reading experience had taught him anything, then saying one magic word might make something pop up.
...And he was damn right.

Woahh! It’s actually real?
Arthur tried his best not to freak the nurses out as he maintained a poker face while watching the surgery ahead.
In actuality, he was staring at his status screen.
His stats were so-so, but that explained why he had randomly gotten stronger while carrying her.
Did this mean that if he lifted a bunch of weights, he could get so strong that he could eventually lift full-on boulders?
That thought excited Arthur more than the question of how he was going to pay for that woman’s surgery.
Surgery aside, the thought of magic and becoming stronger made him not want to go back to his old world at all.
Why would he?
There was literally nothing but work waiting for him over there.
Ah, work and depression.
He played around with the system a little more, accidentally pressing the [+] sign right next to his class.

Is that why I was able to rip that stick out of her lung without her dying on me? I got lucky this time. I won’t try something like that again now that I know the limits.
"Are you her husband?"
A deep voice snapped him out of his drowsiness.
He glanced up and saw a young-looking doctor.
"Good morning. Are you her husband?" he repeated.
"Uh, yes. How is she?"
"Her condition is stable to a degree. It will take a few weeks before she’s able to go back home. Speaking of, where is home? She isn’t registered inside Vivum, and neither are you. Are you refugees?"
Arthur knew that being an immigrant or refugee in a place like this could get him into a lot of trouble.
At least, that was how it worked in his old world.
He applied the same logic here, and just as he was about to come up with some excuse, the doctor reassured him.
"A few hours ago, around fifty refugees arrived in our city, claiming they were from another world. As it so happens, Vivum is very accommodating to outsiders, especially those who arrived here without their consent."
"...One might even say their health insurance is free."
"Ah, of course. We’re part of the same group of people," Arthur said.
The doctor nodded. "In that case, I’ll ask one of our nurses to escort you to your new home. After your wife recovers, we will send her there. Once you arrive at your new home, someone should explain what kind of perks you have and what you’re allowed to do to keep them. Now, I need to go back in and perform some supplementary tests on your wife. Let’s wish her a speedy recovery."
There’s definitely some kind of catch, but beggars can’t be choosers.
With that, the doctor went back inside.
As for Arthur, a nurse eventually came up to him and took him along.
He hadn’t realized it at first, but this hospital was massive. He had already forgotten where that woman was staying.
But on the bright side, he didn’t need to worry about her anymore.
[Your Fated Partner’s condition is stable.]
That was the only message he had received since waking up. He was fairly far away from her now, and the system wasn’t telling him to get any closer.
Finally, he could actually take a piss without worrying about the quest failing.
Though, the piss frankly needed to wait longer than he had expected, as the nurse took him to her car and flew him across the city to some kind of residential area on the ground level.
It resembled one of those gated neighborhoods where every single person was a sociopath who would cut their grass every eight hours just to make sure it stayed the exact same length.
"We’re here. Um... I think most of the homes are already filled, but I don’t think the government has fully assigned everyone’s homes yet, so you can..." The nurse paused.
"Ahem. If you want a big house, take it from someone!"
Before he could even process what kind of bullshit she had just murmured, she pushed him out of the flying car and flew off.
Arthur stared at her departing car with a dazed expression before slapping himself out of it.
What in the sadist shit was that?
He had to give her credit, though. He wouldn’t have thought of that himself.
And if he was being honest, it wasn’t that bad of an idea.
He spotted a few genuinely large houses in the distance. In one of the yards, there were several delinquents asserting their dominance over all the women and children like the badasses that they were.
As sarcastic as that thought was, Arthur had always wanted to beat up some delinquents.
That was why he walked over to their yard, got their attention with a whistle, and then simply smiled at them.
"Hello there. I’ve come to bargain."
