1347, Loen Kingdom, Tingen City.

Levi opened his eyes in the Darkness.

What met his gaze was a pale, sickly green face.Full novel: Lord of Mysteries: The Witch of Desire — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

The face rapidly lost its color, becoming cold and distorted, as its short black hair grew and spread outward, transforming into slick, pitch-black tentacles.

Levi gasped; he was intimately familiar with this face—it was his own.

“A mirror?”

The mirror’s surface, like rippling water, flashed with an eerie, cold light, giving Levi a moment of realization.

He was facing a mirror with a silver-patterned frame, watching his body undergo a bizarre transformation—

Slick tentacles grew from the tips of his hair, getting longer and longer, winding and twisting like venomous snakes.

Their ends writhed constantly, sprouting snake heads with glowing red eyes.

Gradually, the tentacles slowly wrapped around his body—his neck, chest, abdomen, and between his legs—tightening bit by bit, causing him a suffocating pain.

“Help…

me…”

Levi called for help feebly, but no sound came from his throat.

Only bursts of ethereal laughter rang out, filled with an allure that carried a bone-deep terror.

Then, as if receiving a command, the tentacles simultaneously reached for his lower body, opened their fanged snake mouths, and bit down hard!

A heart-piercing pain immediately surged through him!

“Aaahhh!!”

Levi jolted awake, snapping upright in bed and gasping for breath.

In the dark night, a cold wind blew through the dilapidated window frame, making him, drenched in cold sweat, shudder uncontrollably.

The dream just now had been so real that even now, he felt waves of phantom pain in his lower body.

He quickly reached down to check.

Phew, thank goodness, it was still there.

“I’ve been transmigrated to this hellhole for half a year, and I’ve had similar dreams countless times…”

Levi sighed, still feeling a lingering fear as he recalled the recurring Nightmares over the past six months.

His original name was Li Wei, an ordinary university student from a nation of foodies, but he had transmigrated to this world while visiting a temple during a trip to Thailand.

Then, he replaced the original soul and became Levi Garcia.

Unlike other protagonists, Levi had no golden finger, no system, both parents were dead, and his family was poor.

He could only live with his older brother and his brother’s fiancée in a slum area like Iron Cross Street.

Aside from his somewhat handsome looks and a quick wit, he had nothing.

However, even with such a poor family background, his brother Jason worked hard to support his studies at the Tingen Technical School.

Jason’s fiancée, Emily, who studied in the Mechanical Engineering department at Tingen University of Technology, also frequently tutored him in his schoolwork and took great care of him.

Therefore, despite the poverty, Levi had slowly accumulated some precious familial affection in this strange world.

“I just don’t know when I’ll be able to go back, back to my hometown…”

Levi sighed, and just then, the old window opened with a creak.

By reflex, Levi reached under his pillow and gripped a self-defense dagger while warily turning his gaze.

A dark shadow had already quickly darted in through the window and jumped to his side, moving so fast his naked eye could hardly keep up.

Levi was about to open his mouth when his neck was encircled by a cold arm, and his back was pressed against two soft objects.

“Don’t move!”

A somewhat affected female voice came from behind him.

A complicated expression flashed in Levi’s eyes.

He took a breath and slipped out from the arm encircling his neck with a’swish,’ then quickly turned around to stare intently at the woman who wore a playful smile.

She was tall with a fair, beautiful face, her wavy golden hair shining in the dark night, and the two objects on her chest were exceptionally firm, making her look quite lovely.

Levi suddenly threw a punch, hitting the woman’s chest, and complained:

“Jason, can you stop being so childish!”

The “woman” burst into laughter, pulled off the golden wig with one hand, and removed the human skin mask covering the face, revealing a face similar to Levi’s—it was indeed Levi’s brother, Jason.

“Levi, you hit so hard.

What if you broke the tools I use to make a living?”

Jason smilingly pulled out two bundles of cloth stuffed with cotton from his chest, stroking them affectionately while speaking in a clear male voice.

“Who told you to scare me so late…

How many times have I told you, knock on the window first when you come home at night…”

Levi continued to complain, but his voice grew softer.

After all, Jason did those shady jobs for the sake of the family and often worked this late; he had no right to criticize his brother.

“So, was the mission successful this time?”

He changed the subject, showing concern for his brother’s work.

“It was quite smooth, and…

I got what you wanted!”

While taking off the female clothing, Jason proudly pulled several yellowed pages of notes from a pocket in his undergarments.

“Emperor Roselle’s notes, you actually got them!”

Levi took the papers in pleasant surprise, and with one glance, the familiar square characters leaped off the page.

“It really is Chinese!”

Instantly, the heartstring named ‘hometown’ was plucked, and he felt his eyes nearly well up with tears.

Shortly after transmigrating, Levi realized that Emperor Roselle might be a fellow transmigrator, but his notes were extremely rare.

Even a handwritten copy was not something an ordinary person could obtain.

Later, Levi had accidentally run into Jason slipping home in women’s clothing at night.

After persistent questioning, Jason finally told Levi the truth: he had become a Beyonder, a Sequence 9 Assassin, serving a secret organization and often cross-dressing to complete shady missions.

Jason also taught Levi some knowledge about Beyonders.

Levi wasn’t surprised and accepted it very quickly; he had already transmigrated to this world, so it would be stranger if there weren’t some miraculous things!

However, Jason rejected Levi’s idea of becoming a Beyonder.

According to him, it was a very dangerous path.

Levi didn’t insist but instead asked Jason to look for Emperor Roselle’s diary, wanting to see if he could find a way to become a Beyonder from his notes.

After several months of effort, the notes written in Chinese by his ‘fellow countryman’ Roselle finally reached Levi’s hands.

“Take your time reading.

Remember to light the gas lamp so you don’t ruin your eyes.

I’ll go see Emily after I change.”

Jason neatly packed the female attire he had taken off into a box, preparing to tuck it into Levi’s wardrobe.

Emily knew nothing about the Beyonder world or Jason’s work—this was Jason’s way of protecting her.

For some things, merely knowing about them meant danger.

Levi nodded in agreement and began to read the yellowed pages with excitement:

[“December 29th, it’s almost the new year again.

“All the mausoleums have been built; there is no turning back now.”

“I think I might not be the only transmigrator in this world.

“If anyone else can understand my diary, you must remember to choose your Beyonder Pathway cautiously.

“Once this is determined, it means your allies and your enemies are also largely determined.

“I cannot offer specific advice because I cannot see the Seven Deities clearly, nor the true faces of those Evil Gods.

This might be related to part of the contents of the hidden second ‘Blasphemy Slate’ of that ancient organization.

Unfortunately, I only suspect there are hidden parts and cannot obtain confirmation.”

“Similarly, I do not know what is written on the first ‘Blasphemy Slate.'”

“A useful warning is: do not choose a Pathway where the Sequence 0 position is already occupied, and be careful of the Sequence 0 and Sequence 1 of neighboring Pathways.

I suffered greatly in this regard.”

“As for what Sequence 0 represents, if you don’t know yet, remember to collect my other diaries.”

“Heh, this page is like an afterword to my life.

If I succeed, what follows will be the life of a god, another story entirely.

If I fail, then there is no ‘after.’ Probably, well, you understand.”

“Go, my friend who can understand my diary.

Go explore the secrets of our transmigration and the truths buried within.

I will be watching you, if I am still alive.”

“One last reminder, you must remember:

“Beware the Moon!”]

“Beware the Moon…”

Levi pondered over this sentence repeatedly.

Something seemed to faintly emerge in his mind, and a bone-chilling coldness welled up in his heart.

Suddenly, he felt something and abruptly turned his head toward the crimson Moon outside the window.

Under the scarlet moonlight, a pale face was pressed against the window, its bulging eyeballs staring intently into the room.
