Truman knew very well that a Witch’s black flames could only affect things with life or spirituality, so with proper preparation, they weren’t difficult to defend against.
He stated his purpose before Trissy could launch her translucent frost spears.
“Since digesting your potion requires creating terror and being hated, why not target those high and mighty big shots?”
“Oh?
What do you mean?”
Trissy stopped her actions upon hearing this and asked with interest.
“Congressman Maynard of the Conservative Party, a strong contender for the next mayor of Tingen City, and one of those damned rich people.”
“If you kill him, those usually polite gentlemen will be terrified and show their true ugly colors.
The New Party and the Conservative Party will also turn against each other—all of which will help you digest your Witch potion.”
Truman said in a seductive tone.
Trissy stuck out her tongue and licked her lips, seeming tempted.
But the next moment, she put on a seductive expression and said playfully:
“Truman, am I to understand that you’re inciting a Witch?”
“This is a task assigned by the Demoness Sect, isn’t it?
Otherwise, you wouldn’t bother picking a fight with some fool?”
Truman looked at Trissy’s alluring smile and couldn’t help but admire the power of the Witch potion.
Just a few days ago, Trissy had been a total man, and now she had already learned the art of seduction without any teacher.
“Yes, this is a task I need to complete to apply for the Sequence 7 potion.”
Truman nodded.
He didn’t hide it from Trissy.
“The Demoness Sect is really good to you—they gave you the potion in advance even though you haven’t completed the task yet.”
Trissy said through gritted teeth.
“I’d rather they treated me worse.
You should know that there’s no such thing as unconditional kindness in this world.”
Truman shook his head.
He didn’t tell Trissy about the hidden dangers lurking in the Apprentice pathway.
Advancing through the Apprentice pathway was not necessarily easier than the Assassin pathway.
Trissy fell silent for a moment.
Having grown up on the streets, she naturally understood the implication in Truman’s words.
She changed the subject and asked:
“Why do you want me to do it?”
“You’re a Sequence 7—can’t you kill an ordinary person?”
Trissy felt that Truman was using her as a free tool.
“Killing that congressman would be really easy for me, but I think it would be safer if you did it.”
“Since you won’t be able to stay in Tingen City anyway after setting up the curse altar and killing the survivors of the Alfalfa, taking care of him for me won’t delay your escape.”
Truman had actually just asked casually this time.
He no longer had any compelling reason to stay in Tingen.
If Trissy refused, he would assassinate the Conservative Party congressman tonight and leave.
“Are you joking?
You know very well that Witches have anti-divination abilities, don’t you?”
Trissy felt that Truman was completely underestimating her.
Her strong pride would never allow anyone to look down on the power she had gained by sacrificing her gender.
“You don’t actually believe in that so-called anti-divination ability, do you?”
Truman looked at Trissy suspiciously, his gaze resembling that of someone looking at a failing student, an illiterate, and an idiot who had gone stupid from drinking potions.
“When I learned that anti-divination abilities existed in this world, I lost all basic trust in divination and anti-divination.”
“How can you be sure that your anti-divination ability is superior to your opponent’s divination ability?”
Trissy didn’t take Truman’s words to heart.
She felt that he was deliberately trying to provoke her.
“Enough talk.
Aren’t you an Astrologer?”
“Let’s have a competition.
If you can divine my location, I lose.”
“I’ll willingly help you kill that congressman and incite conflict between the old and new parties.”
Trissy sprinkled a handful of shimmering powder over herself, and her figure disappeared inch by inch.
Invisibility?
Truman looked around the empty room and frowned.
He had actually been prepared to deal with that congressman himself, but Trissy’s suggestion seemed like it might help with his potion digestion.
“Whatever.
With Trissy’s strength, assassinating an ordinary congressman won’t be a problem.
And after she finishes the dirty work, no one can stop her from running away.”
Truman thought it over and decided he was being overly cautious.
Tingen City was just a small place—the official Beyonders here were at most Sequence 7.
How could they possibly divine Trissy’s location?
Even if she accidentally exposed herself, with him and Madame Sharon to back her up, she wouldn’t be in any danger.
“Trissy, don’t go back on your word if you lose.”
Truman called out to the empty room.
He closed his eyes and formed a hand seal.
“Release!”
A small portion transformed into wisps of spirituality, temporarily strengthening his spirit body.
Truman took out his astrology crystal ball.
His left hand swept across it, and the dim stars flickered and twinkled in response.
“I want to know where Trissy is hiding.”
Relying on his keen spiritual intuition, Truman began gathering information from the room.
The brilliant stars in the crystal ball began to extinguish one by one, until only a few smaller stars remained in the west.
Whoosh!
Whoosh!
Two marbles flew out and struck certain objects before bouncing back.
Truman watched the light spots in the crystal ball begin to shift position and smiled.
“Trissy, you were really planning to cheat, weren’t you?”
When he saw Trissy covering her chest with a look of shame and fury, Truman’s smile froze on his face, and the two marbles he was fiddling with stopped spinning.
“Um…
for the sake of fairness, I didn’t activate my spiritual vision, so strictly speaking, this was just an accident.”
Truman discreetly hid the hand holding the marbles behind his back, looking earnestly at his good brother, hoping for understanding.
“Truman, go to hell!”
Trissy, humiliated and enraged, hurled two frost spears.
Now completely furious, she only wanted to tear Truman apart.
“Trissy, can’t you be reasonable?
I said it was an accident!”
Whoosh!
The wind howled.
Truman leaped backward, using wind magic to glide and dodge Trissy’s attack.
“Die!
Die!
Die!”
Trissy, as if possessed, blindly hurled a barrage of frost spears and black flames at Truman.
Truman had no choice.
He clapped his hands together, and a three-meter-long thick wooden staff appeared in his hands.
He first dodged several frost spears, then used the illusory black flames to ignite both ends of the staff, feeding the burning black flames with his own spirituality.
Boom!
As the two illusory flames flickered and danced, every incoming attack was precisely deflected.
