Two: Run away together.

Three: Seek help from the local security forces.

No matter how you think about it, the choice should be three.

How could local officials turn a blind eye to the daughter of a city-level leader?

Of course, there’s also the possibility, like in some movies, that the person you ask for help is actually in league with the enemy.

But that possibility is minuscule.

If I were Rudy, I would definitely seek help from a local mid-tier noble.

Given Eris’s status, they couldn’t possibly ignore it.

Moreover, Eris and Rudy are dressed in fine clothes, not commoner outfits like Henry or Hans; they look like noble children at a glance.

“Are you an idiot?”

“Huh?” Rudy was stunned, not understanding why I was scolding him.

“At a time like this, you’re still thinking about taking a public carriage?

Shouldn’t you be seeking help from local officials?”

“If we do that, we won’t achieve the goal of educating the young lady!”

“You’re still thinking about education?

Still thinking about playing house?

If it were just an act, that would be one thing, but now it’s the real deal.

Do you really think these people will let you go?

Have you thought about what accidents might happen along the way?”

“I…” Rudy was left speechless by my words.

Although he seemed mature on the surface, he was still quite naive and often thought very one-dimensionally.

Actually, Rudy told me earlier that they had taken a public carriage from a town called Wedding this morning to get here and transfer to the carriage for Roa.

He had already taken the young lady on one carriage ride.

He hadn’t considered what would happen if someone intercepted them halfway; the driver is just an ordinary person without any combat skills.

I patted Rudy’s rear and threatened, “I’ve heard there are many perverts in this world.

Don’t think you’re safe just because you’re a boy.

If you don’t want to be snatched away and turned into a little cat-boy, then hurry up and do as I say.”

“I…

I understand.”

It seemed Rudy had realized it too.

One only needs to weigh the pros and cons slightly to know the outcome.

Carrying a playful or immature mindset will lead to a huge loss.

“Are you two done talking?

And who is she?”

Although she looked quite cute, her bossy attitude was really infuriating.

“Her name is Luna, she’s my younger sister.” On one side was the haughty young lady, and on this side, Rudy looked humble; the two formed a sharp contrast.

This child must have been spoiled rotten by the elders in her family, probably the grandparents.

Since her father could come up with a scheme like self-staging a kidnapping, he didn’t seem like the type to spoil a child.

“Your sister?

You don’t look much alike.”

“Yeah, people say that often, but we really are siblings—twins, in fact.”

“Hmph!

Whatever.

When is the public carriage coming?”

“Uh…

we’re not taking the public carriage anymore.

We’re going directly to the mayor of this town to ask for help.”

After Rudy finished speaking, he stole a look at Eris’s expression, afraid his sudden change of decision would make her angry.

“Oh, then let’s go.”

Eris was slightly disappointed, but she didn’t reject the proposal from Rudy and me.

Since a moment ago, she had been looking around restlessly, hiding by Lilia’s side at the slightest sound.

She was a different person from her haughty self just now; she was likely a bit scared because she’d been hurt when the play turned real.

Since we decided to go to the local mayor for help, Lilia and I would naturally give Rudy a hand.

“Lilia, is it okay if we head back a little later?”

“No problem.”

And so, we walked along the crowded street.

Lilia and I carried the goods and walked behind, Rudy led the way in front, and Eris was sandwiched in the middle.

She looked around like a curious baby; it seemed she really rarely left home.

Rudy said there were two kidnappers, both fierce-looking mercenaries, but I felt that no matter how strong they were, they couldn’t possibly kidnap Eris on this street in broad daylight, right?

However, I seemed to have overestimated my own judgment and underestimated the opponents’ lack of moral bottom line.

As we passed a small alley, someone suddenly lunged out, covered Eris’s mouth with one hand, and grabbed her body with the other, snatching her away into the deep, complex alleyway in broad daylight.

By the time we reacted, it was too late to call the guards, and Rudy had already chased after them.

“Lilia, I’m going to help Rudy.

You go call the guards.”

“Wait, Miss Luna…”

Ignoring Lilia’s words, I could only follow into the alley to find that hothead Rudy.

Before long, I saw the two kidnappers at a corner, their retreat blocked by Rudy’s Earth Magic.

The two kidnappers looked like completely vicious desperadoes.

The fact that they dared to kidnap the daughter of a high-ranking noble in broad daylight suggested they had an escape route, or perhaps they had a protector and weren’t worried about the consequences.

Rudy, rushing in recklessly, could very well end up as a corpse, or get captured by these people as well—a ‘buy one get one free’ deal.

With my wand in one hand and my dagger in the other, I used ‘Earth Spear’ to launch myself while their attention was on Rudy.

I performed a mid-air flip to position myself behind the enemy, creating a pincer formation with Rudy.

“Rudy, now!”

Hearing my signal, Rudy activated his magic, attacking the two kidnappers whose attention had been drawn by me.

Bang!

A thick’Stone Cannon’ instantly knocked out the man holding Eris.

Eris was naturally saved, but her eyes were red, tears were on her cheeks, and her whole body was trembling.

Clearly, she was so terrified her legs couldn’t stand; she froze in place, so we could only continue fighting the remaining person.

The other man turned his gaze back to Rudy.

Squelch!

I took the opportunity to close in and stab my dagger into his thigh.

I could clearly feel his tendons being severed; blood gushed out instantly, and a thick scent of blood spread.

“Get lost, you brat!”

In his pain, the man swung his sword at me in a backhand slash.

I dodged it instantly; although he was skilled, he still wasn’t as strong as Paul.

With a crack, the stone tiles on the ground where I had just been were shattered by his strike.

This man had Battle Aura; he was an Advanced Swordsman.

But so what if he’s an Advanced Swordsman?

It’s meaningless if you can’t hit your target!

Whoosh!

Whoosh!

Two fireballs from Rudy came flying in.

The Advanced Swordsman turned and used his Battle Aura to shatter them, but I, behind him, also released two fireballs.

Tired out from dealing with both sides and with his leg injured by my stab, he lost his ability to move quickly.

Defeat was inevitable.

“Go to hell!”

Swish!

He threw his longsword toward Rudy, the blade enveloped in Battle Aura.

It was the North God Style Secret Technique—’Sword Throw’.

“Dodge it!

Earth Magic can’t block this move!”

Rudy dropped to the ground instantly, the longsword narrowly grazing his hair.

The Advanced Swordsman took advantage of Rudy dodging to drag his injured leg over to him, then pulled out a dagger.

He probably wanted to take Rudy hostage to escape, since kidnapping the young lady was now impossible.

“North God Style Secret Technique—’Sword Throw’!”

Just as he was about to grab Rudy, I threw my own dagger.

The man blocked it with a backhand, but what he didn’t know was that at the same time I threw the dagger, I also activated my magic.

“Fireball!

Fireball!

Fireball!”

Boom, boom, boom!

The dust and smoke from the instant explosions engulfed the man’s upper body.

When the dust settled, the triple fireballs had blasted the man’s flesh open, and the smell of cooked meat wafted through the air.

His entire face looked as gruesome as Gus Fring’s after being blown up by Hector’s pipe bomb.

The thug who had been shouting about killing just moments ago slumped powerlessly to the ground, lifeless.

“I…

I killed someone?” Yet even seeing such a horrific scene, even if I was the one who caused it, I didn’t feel any sense of nausea.

Was it because I’d seen too many disgusting things before that my threshold was too high?

“Luna, you…

you killed him!” Rudy looked at me with terrified eyes.

“I didn’t do it on purpose, but there was no choice.

I had to kill him to save you.”

Rudy calmed his breathing and tried to force a weak smile, but when he saw the man I had killed, he immediately threw up.

???

“How dare you grab me!

How dare you grab me!”

“Ah!

No!

Stop!”

From behind came Eris’s furious roars, along with the screams and pleas for mercy from the man Rudy had knocked out earlier.

Having regained her composure, Eris had picked up the longsword left on the ground and was frantically hacking at the kidnapper lying on the floor.

“Alright, Eris, stop hacking.

We still need to find out who the mastermind is.”

Under Rudy’s persuasion, Eris finally stopped, though the man on the ground had been hacked nearly to death by her.

After using healing magic, he was a bit better, at least enough not to die immediately.

“Who sent you to do this?”

“It…

it was Thomas.”

Who’s Thomas?

I only know Thomas the Tank Engine.

“So it was him!

When I get home, I’ll have Ghislaine cut him into pieces!”

Eris was livid, gritting her teeth and shouting about getting revenge when she returned.

It seemed Eris knew this man named Thomas; he really was a mole.

“What happened here?”

The guards finally arrived, late as always, just like the backup in an action movie.

With his excellent eloquence, Rudy explained the situation to the guards.

Upon learning that she was the daughter of the Mayor of Roa and a high-ranking noble, the guards didn’t dare to be negligent and escorted us to the local town mayor’s manor.

I had only walked a few steps when I saw a panicked Lilia.

She was limping toward me, clearly having aggravated her old injury in her haste.

Seeing that Rudy and I were unharmed, she first let out a sigh of relief and then pulled me into a tight embrace.

Lilia’s embrace was filled with her warm scent.

“I’m sorry, Lilia.

I made you worry.”

“Don’t be so reckless next time.”

“Okay.”

“And you, Young Master Rudy, don’t be so reckless either, for the sake of Master Paul and Mrs.

Zenith’s peace of mind.”

“I understand, Lilia.”
