With Sage unconscious and everyone else injured, they couldn’t keep traveling with wounded team members.

Her gaze fell on the rainbow-colored core in her hand, then shifted to Sage’s pale, unconscious face.

She thrust the core at Jasper without hesitation.Full novel: Marked by the Monsters I Created — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“Give this to Sage. Maybe it’ll get him back on his feet faster.”

Maya knew the timeline from the novel.

Marcus would die sometime after mating season.

The villains would learn about his death and cut off their mate marks.

So if they reached him before mating season, they should still be able to save Marcus.

Mating season couldn’t be far away now.

She didn’t want to waste time on the road.

But when the guys saw Maya give away a C rank Beast Core without thinking twice, they were shocked.

Jasper looked at the core in his hand.

“Even though this is C rank, Sage won’t level up from it. Are you sure you want to give it to him?”

Maya nodded quickly.

“At least it’ll help restore his mental energy, right? He used up all his power.”

Only by recovering his mental energy could he heal the injured guys.

Then they could leave sooner.

All the guys stared at Maya after hearing her words.

Was she really thinking about Sage, or did she have other reasons?

Caleb’s face went completely dark.

His red eyes looked even more gloomy as he watched Maya with obvious tension.

He remembered how Maya had kept her distance from him after crying earlier.

His chest felt tight and uncomfortable.

He knew that among all her mates, only Sage wasn’t someone Marcus had forced to bond with her.

They’d known each other before.

She was willing to give him a precious C rank Beast Core without hesitation, even though it could only restore mental energy, not help him level up.

Jasper held the Beast Core and looked at Caleb’s dark expression, then at Maya’s determined face.

He didn’t say anything more and walked to Sage, carefully placing the core near his lips.

The Beast Core looked solid, but once in his mouth, it turned into light that flowed in with his breathing.

After a while, it was completely absorbed.

Sage’s eyelashes moved slightly and he slowly opened his eyes.

His face was still a bit pale, but much better than before.

“You’re awake?” Jasper said first, pointing at Maya.

“Maya just gave you the giant bird’s C rank Beast Core. How’s your mental energy?”

Sage turned sharply to look at Maya, his amber eyes full of shock.

He clearly understood how precious C rank Beast Cores were.

Maya could trade it for many things, yet she’d rather give it to him just to restore his mental energy?

Sage’s gaze swept to the beast hide wrapped around Maya’s shoulders, still seeping with faint bloodstains.

She was obviously badly injured.

He frowned slightly.

Though he didn’t know her purpose for giving him the Beast Core, since she’d given him such a precious C rank Beast Core and he’d recovered some mental energy, he should heal her.

He immediately pushed himself up to stand and walked toward Maya, reaching out to unwrap the beast hide on her shoulder.

“Let me heal you.”

Maya quickly stepped back, dodging his hand.

“No need. Caleb already bandaged me.”

She paused, her gaze turning to the injured Hunter and Finn nearby.

“You just recovered your mental energy. Heal them first. They’re hurt worse than me. If they get better quickly, we can travel sooner.”

Maya thought that though Sage had recovered his mental energy, several of her mates were seriously injured.

Using mental energy to heal each person definitely wouldn’t be enough.

The best way not to delay travel was to use mental energy to heal the seriously injured beastmen, while she could secretly use her healing ability to fix her own wounds.

But her thinking sounded different to the beastmen’s ears.

Sage’s movements instantly froze, his amber eyes full of bewilderment.

Before he’d passed out, he’d clearly seen the giant bird’s claws dig into Maya’s shoulders. Follow the newest chapters on g.com.

Those wounds were definitely not light, yet she’d rather endure the pain herself and have him heal the other beastmen first?

This behavior wasn’t like her at all.

If it had been the previous Maya, forget such serious injuries – she’d take her temper out on them for being too cold or too hot.

Sage looked at Maya’s serious expression, his brow furrowing as he spoke firmly.

“They’re males with thick skin. They’re not that delicate. I’ll heal you first. I absorbed the Beast Core and recovered quite a bit of mental energy. After treating you, I’ll give them simple treatment. It won’t delay our travel.”

Maya had wanted to save Sage’s mental energy, but hearing it wouldn’t delay travel, she immediately relaxed and nodded.

“Then… okay.”

Though she had her healing ability, the amount was too limited.

She didn’t know if that power could completely heal the wounds.

Since Sage said it wouldn’t delay travel, she naturally didn’t want to suffer unnecessarily.

Sage stepped forward and carefully unwrapped the beast hide from her shoulder.

The wound was still seeping blood, the edges red and swollen, looking worse than he’d imagined.

His fingertips glowed with a faint light as he gently covered the wound.

Warm energy instantly wrapped around the painful area, and the originally sharp pain dissolved like being melted by warm water, gradually fading away.

In just moments, the wound healed at a visible speed, finally leaving only a faint red mark.

After a few more seconds, even the red mark disappeared, leaving the shoulder skin smooth as before.

“Done.” Sage withdrew his hand, the glow on his fingertips gradually fading as his face paled again.

Maya happily touched her shoulder – no pain at all.

While delighted, she also worried about Sage’s mental energy.

“Healing me must have used a lot of mental energy. Can you still treat them? Will it affect our travel?”

Sage walked toward Hunter nearby.

“Their injuries just need simple treatment. It won’t use much mental energy and won’t delay travel.”

He first treated Hunter’s arm wound.Pale golden light fell on the bone-deep wound, quickly stopping the bleeding and reducing much of the swelling.

Then he moved on to Finn’s tail and Caleb’s missing scales, giving them both the express treatment.

Not exactly good-as-new, but definitely functional enough to keep them moving without leaving a blood trail.
