She had slaughtered countless pigs before—normally, an average pig weighed about four hundred catties. But this one? Easily over a thousand.
What a pity.
She wasn’t the butcher today.
Chef Li Da lifted his knife, the blade glinting coldly. His first strike went straight into the Blackgold Beast’s neck.
The creature let out a piercing, agonized howl.
Then the knife slid downward—from its neck all the way to its hindquarters.
The sharp blade flashed beneath his solemn expression, perfectly matching his calm, composed demeanor.
“Good!”
The crowd roared in approval as the beast’s last shriek echoed through the air.
Then Chef Li Da thrust his arm straight into the creature’s abdomen. After a few moments of rummaging, he pulled out a pig heart the size of a basketball.
The sight of that steaming, bloody heart made the onlookers cheer wildly.
Expressionless, Chef Li Da raised his knife again, slicing out the remaining organs with swift, clean movements. He tossed them straight into the waste channel.
Then, with a few spinning motions of his blade, he peeled off an entire layer of skin—pigskin and fat still intact. Finally, with a few decisive chops, he severed the enormous head, tail, and hooves and threw them all into a pit.
There was no denying it—his knife work was mesmerizing.
Judging from his posture and strength, Shen Guoguo guessed that Chef Li Da was at least a mid-level warrior.
That display sent the atmosphere soaring. The crowd’s cheers were as loud as a wasteland music festival, nearly making Shen Guoguo’s ears ring.
As Chef Li Da washed his hands and removed his apron, the beast’s owner rushed up to him, whispering something. The chef tilted his head slightly toward his assistant, who raised his wristband—likely to make a payment transfer.
Everyone nearby looked on enviously.
Shen Guoguo, however, stared in disbelief.
That’s it?
That was the entire butchering?
No bloodletting, no hair removal, not even proper sectioning.
And the head, the innards, the skin, the tail, the trotters—all those treasures—he just threw them away?
She could only sigh and shake her head at the barbaric ignorance of this world.
In the wasteland era, most people lived off nutrient supplements—she’d tried them herself. Bland, flavorless, joyless.Eat that three times a day for too long, and you’d go mad.
So when people hunted mutant beasts, they did it purely for the thrill of real meat.
Unfortunately, the data they relied on all came from pre-apocalypse records—back when animals and plants hadn’t mutated. The names remained the same, but the species were entirely different now.As for slaughtering techniques—those had been mechanized long before the apocalypse, so there were no detailed instructions left.
Chef Li Da’s current “method” was just something he’d invented himself.
So, really, Shen Guoguo couldn’t blame him.
But still—if she had been the one handling it…
No. Stop!
She had to stay low-profile. Absolutely no showing off her skills yet.
Suppressing the urge, Shen Guoguo quietly pushed Huo Tao out of the crowd and into a corner where no one would notice them. They waited patiently for the people to disperse.
“You want to butcher that Blackgold Beast yourself, don’t you?” Huo Tao asked quietly.
Shen Guoguo nodded. “Someday. Not now. We’ll grow stronger first… then amaze everyone.”
The slaughterhouse’s smell soon drove the crowd away.
Once it was empty except for a few robots and Huo Tao, Shen Guoguo sprang into action.
She climbed down to the waste pit and began hauling up the huge pieces Chef Li Da had discarded—the pigskin, organs, tail, and more.
Perfect. None of it was dirty.
“Brother, help me out here—lend me some hot water,” she said cheerfully to a robot guard. Without waiting for permission, she lit a fire and connected the pipes.
Then she grabbed a long knife from the workbench and began scraping the thick white fat from the inside of the pigskin, collecting it into a basin.
Soon she had a whole basin of pure lard.
That much fat alone could feed her and Huo Tao for a year.
The pig heart was gone—Chef Li Da must’ve taken it for another purpose.
Next, she began sorting through the organs: lungs, liver, kidneys—nothing was going to waste.
She picked up the enormous lungs, cut away the leftover bloody tissue, found the airway, and started filling them with water. With rhythmic slaps, she inflated them until every alveolus puffed up.
After washing them inside and out several times, the lungs changed from crimson to white. She tossed them into a basin.
Then came the liver and kidneys. In normal pigs, they’d be the size of eggplants—but these mutant ones were as big as melons.
No flour for cleaning—she just rinsed the blood off and dropped them into another basin.Soon, another one was full to the brim.
She suddenly remembered something and rummaged in the pit again—ah, the pancreas! She washed it and added it to the collection.
Then came the smelliest parts: stomach, small intestine, large intestine.
Just as she was about to start, she noticed Huo Tao watching with a frown.
“Uh… maybe don’t look. Just wait and eat later,” she said with a grin.
It was true—most people couldn’t handle the sight of pig offal. Better to just enjoy the cooked result.
“Oh.” Huo Tao obediently nodded, turned his wheelchair, and rolled away, carrying their clothes.
That gentle look of his nearly melted her heart.
Smacking her lips, she focused back on the task.
Without flour, cleaning intestines was a hassle. She squeezed out the waste, flipped them inside out, and cut away excess fat.The fat wasn’t usable—she discarded it.
Soon, she had another basin piled high with tripe and intestines.
By then, the water in the pot had come to a boil. Shen Guoguo threw in the pigskin, blanching it several times.
When she saw Huo Tao still sitting with his back turned, she called out, “Alright, you can look now!”
He rolled over, staring at the basins full of fat and organs. “Are all these… edible?”
“Pretty much,” Shen Guoguo said confidently. “Trust my cooking—you’ll be amazed.”
She picked up a small knife and began scraping the hair from the pigskin.
Pigskin was precious—especially such a massive sheet.
Huo Tao watched, fascinated. Even the robot guard shuffled closer, recording the scene with blinking red sensors.
As the hair peeled away, the clean white skin gleamed beneath.
“This can be eaten too?” Huo Tao asked.
Without looking up, Shen Guoguo tossed the pig’s tail into the hot water to scald it, replying, “All of it’s edible. But I’ve got another plan for the skin.”
The robot’s red lights flickered uncertainly—its programming had no data for this behavior.
Meanwhile, Huo Tao wondered if there was anything in Shen Guoguo’s world that couldn’t be eaten.
Before long, the entire pigskin and tail were finished.
“Tsk, tsk… Chef Li Da really is worthy of his title,” Shen Guoguo murmured admiringly. “That knife work, that precision…”
After her praise, she pulled out another basin and placed the pigskin inside.
From the discarded hair, she carefully picked out the bristles—those would come in handy later too.
“Heh heh…” Shen Guoguo chuckled like a mischievous collector as she stared at the massive pig head.
After a moment’s thought, she began separating the good parts—the ears, the cheek meat, the tongue.
The head was too big to take entirely, so she decided to keep only the best bits.
As she pried open the beast’s mouth and neatly sliced out its thick tongue, both Huo Tao and the robot froze.
Shen Guoguo… do you still remember you’re supposed to be a lady?
Not an executioner?
But Shen Guoguo ignored their stares and moved on to the trotters.
She found a smaller workstation, pushed the pot aside, and lit the fire again. One by one, she roasted each trotter to singe off the outer layer.
Then she boiled them briefly, scraped off the charred skin, trimmed the nails, and placed them with the pigskin and head parts.
Efficient, precise, and utterly fearless.
In the wasteland, nothing was wasted—and Shen Guoguo was proving herself the true master of that rule.
