Although I found myself in an unfamiliar environment, I did not stand still for long, as I knew it would cost me this new life I had. Especially when the severed head of some soldier rolled right up to my feet. I also was not gonna waste this perfect chance to experience such an exhilarating battle!

I didn’t know who to fight or which side I should join, so I just started swinging. My first foe was a soldier from the side with the brighter silver-plated armor and plain helmets. He charged at me, screaming at the top of his lungs, his sword raised high above, trying to cleave me in two!

I jumped back as I was surprised by the fully armored man’s speed, for he closed the gap much faster than I thought an armored man could move. The man did not give up when his downward slash missed, and instead pivoted his foot and thrust it straight at my heart!Full novel: Martial Anomaly — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

This was a thrilling yet difficult situation, as I was unarmed, unarmored, and seemed to be wearing what I had been wearing when I died. So I knew my unprotected fists would do nothing against these fully armored soldiers.

Seeing that rapid thrust approaching me, faster than any blade ever had before, I sidestepped, barely avoiding a second death. Still, I felt a hot, stinging pain rip across my chest as the blade nicked my chest, tearing my shirt and skin open. With the man’s arm right in front of me, I hooked my right arm around the cold, steel-plated arm and grabbed the top with my left, pushing down, trying to get him to drop the sword.

However, I was shocked to find out that I could not get it to budge at all! I then turned to look at the armored man’s helmeted face. "Could I call a quick time-out? This usually doesn’t happen to me." I said, faking a smile. He replied with a headbutt that rocked my world as I stumbled back, falling flat into the mud behind me.

The soldier stepped forward, swinging in a wide, powerful slash aimed to decapitate my fallen body. My survival instincts flared as I planted my arms down into the muddy ground, lifting my lower body as I kicked upward, catching the bottom of the man’s arm. I felt a vast amount of resistance as I barely caused the man’s arm to move from my full-powered kick, yet it was enough to save my life, as the sword passed right over my head!

At this point, I knew that these people were not ordinary, at least by my standards from back home. My strength did very little, and I was pretty strong and jacked by Earth’s standards. So, I had to fight smart to survive.

I didn’t want to waste time, as this man was incredibly fast and would recover soon enough. With that in mind, I reached up and grabbed onto the arm that was passing over my head, while at the same time wrapping my feet around the man’s nearest leg. I held on with all the strength I could muster, using the man’s own momentum from his swing to destabilize his balance.

I smiled in satisfaction when it actually worked, even though my muscles screamed in agony, as the man stumbled forward! It was enough to have the man fall forward toward me as he lost his balance. I let go and rolled to the side, not wanting this fully armored man to crush me beneath his weight.

Upon seeing his body hit the ground, causing a large splash of mud to shoot up and obscure both our visions, I stumbled over, toward his head. My goal was to remove his helmet and choke him to death, since I saw no other way to end the threat currently.

I quickly made my way over, through the mud and corpses, as many others were fighting all around us. The man himself was trying to clear the mud from his visor as he swung his sword wildly, trying to hit anything nearby. Dodging one of his wild swings, I made my way over on all fours and gripped the side of his helmet to yank it off.

However, I was unlucky. Although I was able to get the helmet halfway off, the man swung his offhand backward, backhanding me across the face, sending me reeling backward into the mud once again. I was sure this broke my nose, as it hurt like hell. I tasted the metallic blood in my mouth as my vision blurred temporarily.

I got down on my knees, coughing and hacking up blood! I cleared my vision and saw the armored man trying to stand up, even though he had yet to fix his helmet, which only covered the top of his head now. Still, I smiled happily as I was currently having the best time of my damn life!

Quickly glancing around, I spotted something useful. A broken spear, this part being with the sharp metal point. I wasted no time grabbing it, wobbling as I stood up, and sprinting as best I could toward the man who was just about to fully stand up, trying to get the mud off himself.

The man, although not all the way up, saw me coming and swung his sword in a quick but wide sideways arc! I wasn’t going to falter, fully intent on killing this man here and now!

So, when I saw that sword swinging toward my torso, I jumped and dove, holding the broken spear with both hands above my head, pointed at the armored man! The sword swung underneath my body as I dove above it, letting my momentum carry me as I pierced the spear directly into the man’s unprotected mouth!

It pierced all the way through and out the back of his head, with blood splashing against my face! My weight slammed into the man, slamming him into the muddy ground, with me groaning in pain as my body hit his metal plate armor. A gurgling sound erupted from the man for a few seconds until he went silent!

I let go of the broken spear and struggled to stand up as I was huffing heavily from pain and tiredness as the battle raged on around me. I was about ready to enter into another life-or-death battle, and then, before I could, a loud horn blared across the battlefield. Then, following that, another slightly different horn sounded from the opposite side.
