I quickly followed her and was immediately thankful that she didn’t seem to be walking too fast and was keeping a pace, I had no issue copying. Honestly, I was pretty blown away by how gorgeous she was, as she put even the best models from back home to shame. Too bad, she also seemed to have a permanent stern look on her face.

"Hey, could I get your name, Miss?" I asked, my voice sounding a bit raspy due to my current injuries.

"The general may have some interest in you, but remember, peasant, speak only when spoken to," she responded harshly without even looking back, her pace not faltering.Full novel: Martial Anomaly — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

"Understood," I replied calmly, though I sighed internally. After all, badass babes are the only ones I am interested in. Well, I guess I should be more focused on getting settled in and rested, since my situation still looks a bit bleak on the survival end, as I am going into battle tomorrow.

Oh, who am I kidding? I am looking forward to getting back into the action tomorrow, even if I die a brutal death! A ravenous smile finds its way to my face as I keep pace with the woman ahead of me.

She even looks back slightly, giving a weird look toward me, though it could have been my imagination, as when I blinked, she was looking straight ahead again. She slowly guides me through the encampment that, to me, felt like a maze.

I saw soldiers sparring, some taking off their armor, and others already out of their armor, cleaning it. Some were already naked, cleaning themselves in tubs of water outside their tents. No one looked at them weirdly or really paid any attention to them at all, as if it were a normal occurrence in the camp.

The things that really caught my attention were the unique individuals who were dressed similarly to the woman in front of me and the so-called General from earlier. The black-robed people, who were men and women. In fact, even among the regular soldiers, I noticed a few women, even some who got naked to take baths. Though it definitely seems like women are the minority amongst the regular soldiers.

Still, the black-robed individuals could be seen giving orders to regular soldiers or even practicing what appeared to be magic spells at times. I was incredibly curious, yet knew that it was now best to keep my mouth shut, at least for now. After all, I at least had some respect for these black-robed people since they were obviously very strong!

After about another thirty minutes of walking, she finally stopped walking as we arrived at a large tent, slightly different from the rest. First of all, while the regular tents were about as large as a small house. This tent is as large as a medium-sized warehouse. There is also a symbol etched above the entrance that I didn’t recognize, but I could understand that it literally said "Logistics".

This confused me until I remembered that I could even understand what the people here are saying, though. I am pretty sure that it’s a language I have never heard before. I guess I can only roll with it, since there are countless things I have yet to understand. So, just add it to the ever-expanding list for now.

"Here you are. Good luck in battle tomorrow, peasant Arthur Vale," the stern woman turns and says with a straight face. She then bends slightly at the waist and jumps into the air, rocketing off, leaving a small crater in the ground. This time, since I was paying attention, I noticed a small light blue symbol that appeared beneath her feet while she was in the air. It only appeared for a short moment before dissipating as she flew off into the distance.

Shaking my head at all the interesting things that I am experiencing, I let out a small sigh as I entered the logistics tent. Upon entering, I immediately noticed absolute chaos, as hundreds of people dashed here and there, completing various tasks. What was interesting was what they were wearing.

The people here seemed like normal folk but also wore all-black clothing, though different from the robes. It looked like simple black linen shirts, black wool pants, and sandals. Pretty simple and plain for the most part, except for a few individuals who had black, circular, brimmed hats.

One of those hat-wearing folk walks up to me, inspecting me. "You must be Arthur Vale." He then turned to the side and yelled. "Bronti, get your ass over here!" From that, I could guess the hat-wearers are the leaders in Logistics.

Not a moment later, a skinny young man no older than twenty with short, wild brown hair ran up. "What’cha need, boss?"

"This one needs new gear. Get him set up and out of here for tomorrow’s battle," the boss orders, then walks off without further care.

The young man then turns to me, giving a toothy smile, and holds out his hand. "Name’s Bronti Koon. Nice to meet’cha!"

I shake his hand and return the smile with a curious glance. "Arthur Vale, same." He vigorously shakes my hand as if happy to meet someone new.

"Alrighty then! Follow me." He lets go and turns to start running off deeper into the warehouse-sized tent.

"Fucking running again," I mutter under my breath with an agonizing sigh.

Still, since I was in much better physical shape than the skinny kid in front of me, I was able to easily catch up and keep pace. It didn’t take long for us to reach the intended destination, as the Bronti slowed down upon reaching a small section off to the side that had a bench and a mirror.

"Wait here for a moment," he said before taking off running once more in a different direction. This time I ended up having to wait a good ten minutes before I spotted the young man come running back, this time with a bundle of items.

"Here you go," he says as he hands over the bundle of clothes. The top is a simple yet thick black long shirt, and the bottom is similar but pants. I was actually surprised by how thick they felt. Only other thing he handed over was a pair of simple black boots.

"I don’t get the black armor of the regular soldiers?" I asked curiously, as that would afford much better protection.

"Hahaha! You’re really funny, man!" Bronti starts to laugh hysterically as he bends over. "Haha, that stuff weighs nearly two hundred pounds, and a non-foundationer wants to wear it into battle. What? You want to be a statue on the battlefield?!"

’Fuck, two hundred pounds of armor! Shit, I am strong enough to probably wear it, though I know for sure I wouldn’t be able to fight in it.’ When I think about it, it makes a lot more sense why I struggled so much to fight that one guy. If they are strong enough to fight like that in full armor of that weight, then these guys are incredibly strong.

Taking a look at the young man who was still laughing, I internally groaned. ’I am probably going to have to act like a literal retard to try and get some information about my situation and this world.’
