Jiang Han’s roar echoed across the mountain, spreading through the wilderness.

By the time the Jiang Clan cultivators sprinted over, Jiang Han was nowhere to be seen. The first thing they saw was the gruesome corpses of their two clansmen. Seeing the wretched state of the bodies, the group exchanged uneasy glances.

Those who dared to hunt Jiang Han lacked no combat experience. They could tell at a glance that both men had been slain by a single, fatal strike.Full novel: Martial Starbreaker — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

What did this mean?

It meant Jiang Han’s combat strength vastly surpassed theirs.

Both men were at the seventh level of the Purple Mansion Realm, yet they had been obliterated in one move. Could Jiang Han’s combat strength have already reached the ninth level of the Purple Mansion Realm?

“Chase him down!”

Jiang Long, a man as thin as a bamboo pole, had spent the last few days leading his men on a fruitless, exhaustive search. His chest burned with pent-up rage. Now that he had finally found a trace of Jiang Han, only to see two more clansmen slaughtered, boundless killing intent flooded his heart.

Without another word, he shot toward the mountain peak.

The others exchanged glances. Leaving two behind to handle the corpses, the rest surged after Jiang Long in pursuit.

The Heavenly Fox Mountain Range was perilous at night. A large group moving together was practically an invitation for Demon Beast attacks, but they could no longer care about the risks.

At that moment, Jiang Han was sprinting at full speed, his mind racing to formulate an escape plan.

Although his cultivation had reached the sixth level of the Purple Mansion Realm, he was simply too slow compared to a ninth-level expert like Jiang Long. Even with the poor night visibility, it was only a matter of time before he was caught.

Once caught, he would undoubtedly die.

“I’ve got it!”

An idea finally took root in Jiang Han’s mind. He remembered a pack of blue demonic wolves residing on the Third Peak. These wolves rarely emerged during the day but were terrifyingly active at night. If he lured his pursuers there, they would absolutely disturb the pack.

Swiftly crossing the Second Peak, Jiang Han headed straight for the Third Peak.

He could already faintly hear the heavy thud of footsteps behind him. The enemy was closing in. He frantically circulated his profound energy, wringing out another burst of speed as he unleashed a series of long, piercing howls.

“Has Jiang Han gone mad?”

Hearing the howls, many of the pursuing Jiang Clan members grew suspicious. Was Jiang Han afraid they would lose his trail? He actually dared to make such a racket? New chapters come out on novelping.com first.

“You can’t escape!”

“Just submit to your death!”

When the group finally charged onto the Third Peak, they caught sight of Jiang Han’s distant figure. Murderous intent blazed in Jiang Long’s eyes as he roared, “Jiang Han, today I will butcher you with a thousand cuts!”

Roar!

Awooo!

At that exact moment, massive roars erupted from nearby, rising and falling in an endless, terrifying chorus. The expressions of the Jiang Clan members drastically changed. Someone screamed, “Jiang Han’s howling… he was luring the demonic wolves!”

Everyone in the Jiang Clan knew the Third Peak was home to hundreds of blue demonic wolves. Now that the pack was stirred, the deafening roars suggested at least a hundred of them were charging in. If they got bogged down here, they would be in severe peril.

“Jiang Long!”

Someone urged, “Let’s withdraw and resume the hunt tomorrow. This is too dangerous!”

“He’s right!” another agreed. “Where can Jiang Han possibly run to in these mountains? We can guard the passes at the base of the mountain tonight. He won’t escape.”

“If you cowards are scared, then get the hell out!” Jiang Long’s face twisted in savage fury as he bellowed. “I will kill him tonight! He dies tonight!”

After days of searching without a shadow of Jiang Han, he finally had the boy within arm’s reach. How could Jiang Long bear to give up now?

As a ninth-level expert of the Purple Mansion Realm, even if dozens of demonic wolves descended upon them, he was confident he could slay Jiang Han and retreat unscathed.

“Then let’s keep chasing!”

Seeing Jiang Long’s sheer obstinance, the others exchanged glances, gritted their teeth, and pressed the pursuit.

However!

Just breaths later, they realized a dark silhouette was charging straight toward them. Looking closely, it was none other than Jiang Han.

And right on Jiang Han’s heels were demonic wolves as massive as oxen, their eyes glowing with a sickening green light.

“Die!”

Completely ignoring the giant wolves roaring behind the boy, Jiang Long drew his longsword in a flash. Moving like a thunderbolt, he surged toward Jiang Han with endless killing intent.

A faint light flickered across Jiang Han’s body. Jiang Long’s sword effortlessly pierced through his afterimage, while Jiang Han’s true body manifested several paces to the left.

Jiang Long and the others faltered in surprise. Before they could redirect their attacks toward Jiang Han, deafening roars erupted right in their faces. The demonic wolf pack crashed into them like a tidal wave, threatening to swallow them whole.

“Get lost!”

Jiang Long roared furiously, impaling a demonic wolf with a single sword thrust.

But there were simply too many. His figure was quickly submerged by the pack.

Whoosh!

Jiang Han activated the Phantom Shift twice in rapid succession, instantly transporting himself dozens of feet away.

With Jiang Long and his group trapped by the wolves, Jiang Han actually had an opening to launch a sneak attack and claim a few more lives.

However, he chose not to risk it. The duration of his Power of Frenzy was rapidly nearing its end. Once the inevitable period of weakness set in, even if the Jiang Clan didn’t kill him, he would end up as food for the wolves.

“Move!”

More reinforcements were bound to arrive soon. Not daring to linger, Jiang Han flickered through the shadows and vanished into the sprawling mountains under the cover of night.

Heading down to the foothills was no longer an option. He had to risk spending the night deeper in the mountains.

And not just tonight-he would likely be trapped in these peaks for the next few days. The Jiang Clan hunting patrols would definitely lock down the base of the mountain, leaving him no opportunity to slip past.

“Wasn’t there a small cave on the Fifth Peak?”

A memory surfaced in Jiang Han’s mind. After a brief moment of hesitation, he locked onto a direction and advanced rapidly.

“Fall back! Fall back down the mountain!”

Back in the bloodbath, Jiang Long had finally regained his senses.

Jiang Han had long since escaped, yet the demonic wolves seemed to multiply with every kill. Several members of the hunting patrol had already sustained severe injuries. Unwilling to drag out the meat grinder any longer, Jiang Long led his men in a desperate fighting retreat.

Moments later, a fresh wave of hunting patrol members arrived to reinforce them. Combining their strength, the group repelled the wolf pack and quickly descended the mountain.

“Set up the blockade!”

The instant they reached the mountain base, Jiang Long barked his orders. “Lock down every path down the mountain! Do not give Jiang Han any chance to escape. Furthermore, spread the word that Jiang Han is trapped here. Draw in the martial artists from the surrounding clans to box him in. First thing tomorrow morning, we sweep the mountains. If I don’t tear Jiang Han limb from limb, I swear I am not human!”
