13 Winchesters
At a different fast food restaurant across the town, Dean smiled at Sam while eating a sandwich “How much you wanna bet Sammy, that kid will be eating slop in a jail cell by the end of the tomorrow.”
Sam flipped through the newspaper in his hand, and said in a bad mood “You asked Nick to meet up at the same diner right now, and here we are.
I hate lying to people Dean, it’s especially dumb to make enemies with a fellow hunter.”
Dean shook his head and said, “You don’t understand how bad the world is, Sammy.
That kid was hiding something and with the bounty on my head, I’m not taking chances.
What if he goes after my bounty, this ghost would go on to kill more people.”
Sam snorted, “Are you really going to live your life relying on ‘what ifs’?”
Dean shrugged “In our profession, paranoia is your best friend Sammy.
If that kid truly didn’t set us up, then after we solve this case, we can just call him and teach him a few things as an apology.”
Sam’s facial expression froze as he stared at the magazine in his hand.
After a moment, he blinked then put the magazine in front of Dean “I don’t think he’s gonna call the police on us Dean…
He is the police!”
Dean frowned and looked at the magazine suspiciously.
‘Insanity erupted on flight 121, during a routine flight over the south pacific close to 1,000 venomous snakes were unleashed onto the planes unsuspecting passengers!’
According to the description of this article, over a month ago on a flight from Hawaii to Los Angeles, thousands of venomous snakes had been secretly put onto the plane by terrorists.
Fortunately, there were two N.I.A.
agent onboard the plane, and under their leadership, the passengers had worked together and managed to escape.
“According to this story, one of the agents, a Rambo-like action star, came to life.
It was stated that even as they were surrounded by hundreds of snakes, they fought their way past them to save a trapped mother and her baby, before bringing them back to safety.
Afterwards he shot out a widow on the plane to use the air pressure difference to suck out the poisonous snakes, before carrying the pilots against the wind into the cockpit!
Dean’s seyes widened “He shot out the window to suck out the snakes, thats some John McClane action…
But so what?
We fight literal monsters, some dude killing snakes isnt impressive.”
Sam didn’t speak, he just showed Dean the picture that was posted with the article, inferring that the agent was in the picture.
It was the photo that had obviously taken from a long distance and was magnified after restoration, appeared in front of Dean,
In the photo was a familiar looking young man getting off the plane while carrying a wounded man.
Although his facial features were a bit blurred because of the distance, Dean could still tell that the person in the photo looked almost exactly the same as the ‘newbie hunter” who they were supposed to be meeting!
Sam whispered “Now you know why I am surprised, right?”
Dean pointed to the photo, “They look very similar, but it could also be some else entirely.
We’ve fought shapeshifters, a simple look alike can exist Sammy.”
“Why are you so adamant that it’s not him?” Sam’s voice gained an edge.
“You know in your heart that it’s him, you just refuse to accept it.”
“Fine Sammy, let’s say you are right, the kid could’ve just been a passenger on the flight that day, not that N.I.A.
agent in question.”
Sam was a little speechless “This entire article was about how badass an agent was, and it shows a picture with one man taking up over half of it.
Dean, that newbie we met, was a real N.I.A.
agent…..”
Dean pursed his lips in reluctant realization.
“You asked him, invited him to lunch, then deliberately blew him off, definitely annoying him and probably pissing him off….”
Before Sam could finish, Dean stood up and gritted his teeth and said, “We should get going Sammy, we need to go to the hote-”
Dean sat back down and let out a long sigh “It’s too late.”
Sam followed Dean’s eyes and saw Nick, who was still wearing his black suit, black leather shoes, white shirt, and blue tie, walking into the entrance of the restaurant.
“Damn it, I knew that it is impossible for people in our business to dress so neat!
Even if we have to wear a suit, it’s usually an ill-fitted suit on clearance from JCPenney!
Just looking at his suit, it screams expensive!”
Dean gritted his teeth and muttered.
“They’re blowing our taxpayer money on cloth!”- Dean angrily grumbled.
“You don’t even pay taxes!
Just calm down dean, we need a plan.”
Sam looked at Dean with a nervous face “Dean, if he can find us here, it could mean that other police officers have called me as well.”
“Your right sammy.
Right now this restaurant is probably surrounded, I wouldn’t doubt it if they have snipers on the rooftops.
I was once caught having decapitated an entire coven of vampires, they probably think I’m a dangerous psychopath!
Just comply quietly and we can break out of prison later!”
While Dean was finished talking, Nick had already walked up to them and smiled “I may have misremembered, but didn’t we agree to meet at noon inside the Restaurant that we met at?”
“Uh…” Faced with such a question, Dean was dumbfounded.
Sam had no choice but to make an excuse “Excuse us agent, me and my brother were weary when we found out about your true identity.”
Nick raised his eyebrows slightly in surprise, before he noticed the newspaper on the table.
After seeing the photo on the page, he instantly understood what was going on.
Although N.I.A.
has tried its best to suppress Nick’s personal information in order to protect the Agents privacy, it was impossible to prevent leaks from appearing.
“So you’ve found out…” Now that his identity was exposed, Nick dropped the inexperienced Hunter act.
The akward shyness vanished from Nicks demeanor as he now radiated a confidence.
“As far as I know, Dean, you and your father, John, are wanted in several states?
Quite a big bounty for your arrest” Nick spoke authoritatively.
Dean’s teeth gritted in anger as his fist were clenched tightly, the atmosphere was tense as Dean had anger in his eyes.
Placing his hand on his brother’s shoulder to calm him down, Sam quickly said “Please hear us out since you know about hunters!
My dad and brother were doing just hunt-”
Nick waved his hand before adopting a mischievous smirk, “It’s just a joke guys, c’mon lighten up.
By the way Sam, isn’t it your turn to treat me for dinner?
Then can I order now?” The tense atmosphere dropped as both Dean and Sam were dumbfounded by Nick’s sudden personality shifts.
“Excuse me ma’am, I’d like the breakfast platter with extra sausage and bacon, the mash potatoes and steak tips, 2 blueberry crepes, a milkshake and a coffee….Uh yes scrambled, and can I have a country fried steak in a to go box”
Wanting to get back at the brothers for draining his wallet, Nick went ahead and ordered enough food to make up for the meal he had bought Dean.
Faced with such a situation, the Winchesters could only sit back and watch as Nick ate nearly a hundred dollars worth of food.
