20 Exorcism
A Exiting the shower and drying off with a towel, Nick wiped the steamy bathroom mirror to reveal the new tattoos that now adorned his chest.
After spending the past two months with Bobby Singer, recording and copying all of his knowledge, Nick compiled a personal list of knowledge that would help him in combating the supernatural and immediately put this knowledge to use.
He went to a tattoo shop and had a rune that prevented Demon possession tattooed on him, granting him a little bit of protection against the unseen and ethereal beings.
Looking at the marking that protected him from demons, Nick shook his head as he couldn’t help but remember what had happened just a week ago.
He had just finished copying everything Bobby was willing to share and loaded up a large trailer hitched to his SUV, both filled completely with books and pictures he copied.
Nick begrudgingly made the 23 hour drive back to Los Angeles where he made a terrifying discovery.
Arriving at the Los Angeles branch of the N.I.A, Nick handed off all of the knowledge he obtained from Bobby Singer.
With permission from Deputy Director Holly, he was allowed to use the building intercom.
After spending all that time with Bobby Singer, Nick had gained much needed knowledge about the supernatural and had picked up some tricks.
With Holly shadowing all of his movements, Nick and a few trusted agents covered every entrance and exit to the building with a line of salt before he made his way to the intercom room and turned it on.
“Hello Agents, what I’m about to do is conduct a verbal test for abnormalities within our ranks.
If you see anything strange during the test, please remain calm as it will only last 20 seconds.”
Agents throughout the building looked at the intercoms in curiosity, wondering what this voice had to say.
“I’ll begin now…
Exorcizamus te, omnis spiritus, omnis satanica potestas!” The building began shaking slightly as the lights and power began flashing and flickering!
“Omnis incursio infernalis adversii omnis congregatio et secta diabolica!” screams of horror echoed throughout the building as a person was vomiting a black fog-like substance from their mouth.
Demon were forcefully expunged from their host body, their black fog like forms tried to escape the sound by fleeing the building only to be hit with an impenetrable salt line.
They raged about looking for a way to flee but could, only to feel the suction force of hello beginning to drag them down.
“Ergo, draco maledicte, ecclesiam tuam securi tibi facias libertate servire.
Te rogamus.
Audi nos!”
As Nick finished the exorcism, all the demons had been sucked down into hell as the building ceased its shaking and the powers returned to normal, but the screams continued.
Checking on their coworkers who had been previously vomiting black smoke, they found their body stone cold as if their body had been long dead!
Listening to Holly’s radio buzz to life, Nick figured that only four out of the four hundred and twenty seven Government Agents had been demons.
While this was lower than he had actually thought, this was just a small and new branch of government.
“I want both floors where the bodies were found to be evacuated, and the witnesses to be detained temporarily.
Call Brenda in, I know she’s in California but I want her to perform the autopsy and make su….”
Watching his Aunt take charge of the situation and giving out commands, Nick silently slipped away from her as he exited the building, got into his vehicle and quickly drove off.
After fighting a ghost and spending two months of straight studying, Holly would no doubt demand that he rest with her and the family, but he couldn’t put them in such risk.
Driving down the Sandy and almost uninhabited highway, a bored Nick could be seen speeding along.
Having already just drive over twenty four from South Dakota to Los Angeles, only to have to drive from Los Angeles to Texas was torture especially since he’d been studying for the past two months.
‘There’s been five missing vehicles in 2 months that have traveled Arizona to new mexico, it’s a relatively small lead but I don’t think leads matters much with my luck’
Staying with the old hunter Bobby Singer for over two months, Nick and Bobby had met some dangers even just staying within the Singer compound.
Like how for some reason, a group of violent thieves decided to raid the singer’s compound, or how one of Bobby’s cursed items suddenly attached itself to a rat and caused the duo great trouble.
Even within the hunters house that had wardenings against any and all creatures that the old man knew, Nick’s cursed luck from the entity that brought him here still caused him great trouble.
Bobby even jokingly said Nick was cursed with bad luck, if only he realized just how right he was.
Those two months together was what made Nick realize that chasing after case leads doesn’t really matter much, as long as he was constantly moving he’ll eventually run across trouble.
As he cleared the stretch of highway desert, Nick noticed a small gas station after thirty minutes of driving.
Even though he had a little over half his tank left, he didn’t want to run out in the middle of nowhere and decided to stop off.
Pulling into the shabby gas station, Nick couldn’t believe how decrepit and rusty the machines looked and half wondered if it was abandoned.
As if to clear his doubts, a sloppy looking middle-aged man with a cigarette in his mouth walked out, and said disgruntledly “How much gas?”
Looking at the suntanned man, Nick wondered if he should just leave.
‘I have a Jerry can of Holy gasoline that I can use in a pitch, it could probably get me to an actually trustworthy gas station.
If this dude pours some weird shit into my gas tank then I’m stuck out here, hmm….’
Giving a dry cough, Nick stretched out his hand first for a shake.
“Sorry sir i dont need gas, I’m just lost and need directions to the nearest town.
I’ll pay you $20 for your trouble.”
Unexpectedly, the man looked at Nick’s extended hand and took two steps back vigilantly
“Directions?
Sorry friend, I don’t know much.
It’s best you turn back from where you came from” with a Stern expression, the slovenly man touched his hand to his waist.
Nick’s mind was vigilant but he was confident in his abilities, so he pressed his luck even further.
“Calm down friend, can I ask you something else if you can’t give directions.”
Nick reached into his wallet and took out two one hundred dollar bills, shaking his money at the man.
The man’s eyes widened and hesitated, after a while he leaned close and quickly snatched the money from his hand.
“Alright, what do you want to know kid”
“Nothing much old man, just tell me.
Have you heard about any strange disappearances or deaths around these par-”
Before he finished his words, the man’s face changed drastically.
He reached into his waist and pulled out a smith and wesson revolver, pointing it at Nick when…
“Boom boom boom…”
Seeing the man reaching into his waist, Nick had already quick drew his pistol from his holsters and when he saw the revolver, he fired.
As the man collapsed to the floor, dead, the bushes ten feet away suddenly let out a bestial roar!
A black shadow sprang out of the foliage and ran off into the distance in the blink of an eye.
“What the fuck is going on?”
