As Nick ran into the darkness following the family’s German shepherd, an investigation team had already been assembled and was sent to Nicks location.

The team was made up of eight swat members from a local county and two unknown Agents who specialized in combating anomalies.

Special Agents like Nick were tasked with finding out if cases had abnormalities before retreating, and these unknown N.I.A.

agents were tasked with resolving them.

Inside the armored car, the N.I.A.

The agent that was spear heading this operation looked at the sweaty and nervous swat members disappointedly.

This location they were heading to was in the middle of nowhere, the surrounding county was a small town with a small police force and their swat team was very lackluster.

The worst thing these swat members had seen were accidental deaths, just one of them had actually fired their gun in the line of duty.

“Today’s objective is rescuing a family and N.I.A.

Agent from a group of unknowns.

The Carter family consists of three males, three women and an infant.

The N.I.A agent is 6 ‘1 black haired with green eyes, assuming anyone that isn’t a part of the Carter family and the Agent a potential enemy to be wary of.”

The Agent said to the nervous swat member which elicited a nervous nod from them.

The two Calm N.I.A Agent stood in stark contrast to the swat, they sat confidently with their towering frames and thick body armour that barely contained their well honed muscles.

To them this was more of an excerise than an actual mission, this was a Code green mission after all.

The Agency, in collaboration with veteran hunters, gave anomalies threat levels based on colors.

The threat levels were Green, Blue, Yellow, Orange, Red.

Green being the lowest threat and Red being the highest.

Level Green anomalies were weak and could be resolved by civilains with guns, while Level Reds could only be resolved by high powered explosives.

There were anomalies that even a high powered missiles couldnt hurt but those anomalies would be handle by those beyond even the Agency.

These two Agents were cleared for up to Blue ranked anomalies, given an additional 3 Agents of similar skill and they’d presumably be able to defeat even a Yellow ranked anomaly.

This was why they were so stoic, a Green ranked anomaly would be a walk in the park.

The two carried large guns that were a model none of the other swat members had seen before and they both carried a large duffel bag that housed unknown objects.

If these swat members had beeing gearing up alongside the Agents, they would’ve seen that their bodies had been littered in bullet wounds and scars from previous conflicts.

No doubt they were veteran soldiers tasked with hunting down supernatural instead of other humans.

“We’ll head to the coordinates last recieved, search the area for any tracks and-” “Captain, there is a situation ahead!” The driver yelled out as he slowed the armoured van.

Peaking his head out of the inspection hole, the NIA agent saw a person lying motionless on the road in front of him under the illumination of the Vans lights.

The captain stood silent for a moment before saying in a deep voice “Get out of the car, stay in formation and stay alert!”

The swat members complied as they got out of the vehicle on both sides and entered a sloppy formation that only spoke to how inexperienced they were.

With the two NIA agents surveying the surroundings cautiously with their guns at the ready, they walked over to the motionless person and realized it was a middle aged Caucasian woman.

She was slightly covered in grim and dirt, her clothes looked old and ragged but she was the picturesque image of mature beauty that would attract any ma.

The swat members had to force themselves to look away from her and survey the surroundings, meanwhile the two agents looked at the woman analytically and disregarded her attraction.

As they knelt down next to the woman, she suddenly opened her eyes and firmly grasped the captain’s clothes, pleading desperately “Help, please, help me…”

Instead of the immediate help her like she expected, the captain quickly slapped her arm off of him and trained his gun directly at her head.

Seeing this situation unfold, the swat members felt their blood boiling at the two Agents disregarding the damsels plea for help and instead pointed their weapons at her!

“You bastards, you need to treat her with respect!

We are here to rescue her and her family from human traffickers, not threaten to kill her!” One of the younger swat members said as he pulled a towel out of the truck and wrapped it around her.

The two Agents gave each other a look before nodding, stepping away from the woman as the swat members stepped forward and surrounded the woman.

“What’s your name, the matter with those weirdos, how did you escape?” The eldest member said, bringing out a thermos and pouring her some coffee.

Tears began pouring out of her dirty face “My name’s Carter.

After they fell asleep, I bit the rope with my teeth and ran out secretly.

Sir, please, I remember the way, I can take you there.

They should still be asleep at this time.”

As the swat members made a perimeter around the woman calling herself Carter, The two Agents walked a fair distance away from them to discuss.

“That woman looks to be in her early 40’s, none of the Carter family has someone fitting her age.” The lead Agent spearheading this operation said.

“Lynn Carter is 31 so she could look like that woman, but I also doubt that they are the same person.

The way she spoke felt off, and seeing as how she called herself Carter lowers the possibility that she is another victim and is mostly in on the taking of the family.”

“It’s more likely that she is an abnormality that is trying to trick us…

The question is if we should take the bait.”

The woman’s attractive figure that disarmed the swat members only made the two Agents even more wary, quickly deducing something was wrong with her.

“It’s best if we scope it out before the secondary team arrives, the real Carter family has children that need our help.” The leading Agent said, getting a nod from his partner before they walked over to the group.

“Well Ms.

Carter, we need to know where the location of this hideout is in order to save your family.

Please come with us and show us the way.” The captain said, his voice sounding sincere and kind.

“I-if it’s to save my family…..

I’ll lead the way!” The swat members looked at the woman in admiration.

To go through such a traumatic event and immediately go back in order to save your family was incredibly brave they thought.

Helping the woman get up off of the cold Sandy floor, the swat members and the woman got into the armoured vehicle as the two Agents looked at each other.

With a nod, they both silently switched the safety off of their large weird guns before getting in the back with them.

Where ever she was talking them, they were ready!
