“Investigate?”

The corner of Wade’s mouth twitched.

“I’m not exactly an agent.Full novel: Marvel: I Am the Lord of the Stars — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

I can’t guarantee I’ll be able to handle this.”

Fury: “…”

Seeing that Fury was about to lose his temper, Wade continued, “But I’ll be careful.

Hopefully, I’ll find something unexpected.”

In reality, investigating it was pointless.

Mjolnir was a divine weapon, and there was practically nothing they could research from it.

Besides, as long as Mjolnir remained there, a group of people would naturally come looking for it.

Whether it was Thor’s four companions or the sinister and cold Loki, they would all eventually show up.

Fury rubbed his forehead.

“Fine.

Get yourself ready and head over there.

I’ve already had Coulson start handling the matter.

He’ll be waiting for you.”

“Mm, got it.”

Wade nodded.

Just as Fury was about to leave, Wade suddenly spoke.

“Uh…”

“Hm?”

Wade’s expression became slightly bashful.

“What about the payment?

You know, I’m almost an adult now, and I need a little personal space.

So I’ve been thinking about getting a new place.”

Fury’s expression immediately froze.

His cold gaze locked onto Wade, and the temperature in the small room seemed to drop several degrees.

Wade, however, remained completely unfazed.

In fact, he almost wanted to laugh.

After a while, Fury was the first to give in.

He sighed.

“Same as usual.

One million dollars!”

Wade immediately broke into a smile.

“Deal!”

“Greedy little bastard,” Fury muttered under his breath.

Despite saying that, there was no contempt in his eyes.

Because he knew that over the years, Wade had barely spent any of the money he’d earned on himself.

Either he had donated it to Charles’s school or secretly given it to the families who had suffered losses five years ago.

“He’s actually a kind-hearted kid.”

Just as Fury was feeling slightly moved, Wade suddenly grabbed the tablet from the desk.

“Then I’ll be heading out.

I’m terrible with directions, so I need a navigation device.”

Fury stared at the spot where Wade had already disappeared, veins bulging on his forehead.

“Every time you come here, you take a tablet!

That’s already the twentieth one!

Bring that damn thing back!”

But Wade was long gone.

…

About an hour later, Wade finally reached the western desert of the United States.

After all, the journey from S.H.I.E.L.D.’s headquarters in Washington to this place crossed more than half of the country.

“Phew.

Moving such a long distance in one go is pretty exhausting.”

Wade’s breathing was slightly labored.

His method of traveling was simple, in a sense—he stepped on the air itself.

Every movement still consumed some of his physical strength.

He landed near the camp.

A temporary base had already been established in the wilderness, and it was gradually taking shape.

All kinds of equipment were in place, clearly indicating that S.H.I.E.L.D.

intended to conduct further research on Mjolnir.

Not far away was an area surrounded by white tents.

That was where Mjolnir had landed.

Dark clouds covered the sky above the hammer, with faint flashes of lightning occasionally visible.

Everywhere else, however, the sky was perfectly clear.

“You’re certainly fast.”

Coulson, who had been waiting for quite some time, greeted Wade with a warm smile.

This wasn’t his first time working with Wade.

“Can’t be helped.”

Wade shrugged.

“The Director gave me an order.

How could I afford to delay?

So, what’s the situation?”

Coulson was just about to speak when a panicked voice suddenly came from inside the base.

“Mr.

Coulson, we’ve got a problem!

An unidentified man has broken into our base.

He appears to be trying to approach the research subject.”

As his colleague spoke over the communication channel, a projection of the scene appeared on Coulson’s watch.

A tall, blond man was rampaging through the base.

His powerful physique and fierce fighting style left the highly trained agents completely unable to fight back.

Who else could it be but Thor, the God of Thunder from Asgard?

Coulson frowned slightly.

He exchanged a glance with Wade before speaking into his earpiece.

“Don’t panic.

Have the agents take action.

Remember, just subdue him.

Under no circumstances are you to cause any casualties.”

But an even more chaotic voice came through the earpiece.

“This man is extremely strong!

Our agents are no match for him!

Requesting instructions!

Requesting instructions!”

Coulson’s expression turned cold.

He quickly switched channels.

“Hawkeye, pay attention.

We’ve got an uninvited guest at our base.”

Clearly, Fury considered this matter extremely important. Enjoying the story? Read on at g.com.

Not only had he sent one of his most trusted agents, but even S.H.I.E.L.D.’s top marksman, Hawkeye, had been deployed.

“Understood.”

Hawkeye didn’t waste any words responding to Coulson’s order.

Of course, that was also related to his personality.

Calm, composed, taciturn, and efficient—those were perhaps the best words to describe this S.H.I.E.L.D.

agent.

He drew a metal arrow from the quiver on his back, nocked it, and took aim.

“How do you want me to handle this?

He doesn’t appear hostile.

He’s just knocking out our agents.”

His hawk-like gray eyes stared through the pale curtains at the figure fighting inside.

“If I’m not mistaken, he just wants to get close to that hammer.”

“The hammer?”

Coulson was confused.

Did a normal person really need to break into a military-style base just to get a hammer?

They weren’t exactly demons.

If it belonged to him, all he had to do was explain himself.

Once his identity and ownership were confirmed, they could simply let him take it.

Besides, the thing had been sitting there for quite some time.

If it hadn’t been so strange—and impossibly heavy, to the point that no one could move it—S.H.I.E.L.D.

wouldn’t have built a temporary base around it in the first place.

Wade shook his head.

“I’ll handle this.”

Thor’s strength might not compare to the Hulk’s, but his body was genuinely divine.

Calling him impervious to ordinary weapons, with a body of iron and bones of steel, wouldn’t be an exaggeration.

Even though Thor had been banished by Odin and his divine power sealed, conventional weapons still weren’t enough to deal with him.

Not even Hawkeye’s specialized arrows.

Coulson looked puzzled.

“You know him?”

“No.”

Wade looked at Thor on the screen.

“I just have a feeling that he’s pretty frustrated right now.”

At this moment, Thor was growing more and more ferocious despite becoming somewhat fatigued.

Without his divine power, he was relying purely on his physical strength and the combat experience he’d accumulated over countless years of warfare to fight his way through the agents.

“Mjolnir.

So you’re here.”

Thor looked excited.

Ever since he’d fallen to Earth, he’d been searching for the companion that had been with him for so many years—his hammer, Mjolnir.

The towering Thor effortlessly sent the agent standing in his way flying.

His pace quickened.

But then Wade’s figure suddenly appeared directly in front of him.

Wade carefully considered his words.

“Uh…

hello.”

“Hello?”

Thor didn’t care about any of that.

He immediately swung his fist.

“Hello, my ass!

Anyone who stands in my way of retrieving my hammer—dies!”
