Wade lay down and curiously looked around.

The laboratory was quite spacious, with all kinds of complex, precision machines arranged throughout the room.

These were some of the academy’s most valuable pieces of equipment.Full novel: Marvel: I Am the Lord of the Stars — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

They had been developed through the combined efforts of numerous mutants with extraordinary intelligence.

Jean fiddled with the controls for a while before speaking.

“It’s ready.”

The machine beside Wade began to operate.

Soft light swept over his body as it analyzed his physical strength.

“I need to take a little blood from you.”

The stronger a mutant was, the less casually their blood could be handed over.

The X-gene hidden within their blood could potentially reveal their fatal weaknesses.

Wade, however, wasn’t worried about that.

After all, Charles and the others were undoubtedly among the most upright people in the mutant community.

So Wade nodded.

“Go ahead.”

Jean nodded back.

She became extremely focused while working, displaying a different kind of concentration.

“Huh?”

“Huh?”

Jean, watching the machine’s analysis, and Ororo, examining Wade’s blood sample, both exclaimed at almost exactly the same time.

They turned toward Wade in surprise.

Wade smiled.

“What is it?”

Jean spoke first.

“Your blood is extremely strange.

Apart from abnormally high cellular activity, we can’t detect any of its other characteristics.

It’s almost as though your genes have been protected by some kind of genetic lock.”

Ororo added,

“The preliminary examination of your body shows the same thing.

Apart from confirming that your basic structure is normal, our equipment can’t analyze any of the other data.”

Jean thought for a moment before speaking softly.

“Looks like your biological information is almost perfectly protected.

We can’t determine the source of your powers, so we’ll have to limit ourselves to some conventional tests.”

Wade looked at them strangely.

“Why does it feel like your equipment is kind of useless?”

Jean:

“…”

Ororo:

“…”

These machines were obviously extremely reliable.

They had never encountered a case like Wade’s in all these years.

Who knew what was going on with him?

Ororo pinched the soft flesh around Wade’s waist.

“You little brat, stop talking nonsense and get over here for the next test.”

Wade sucked in a sharp breath and rubbed his waist.

He had heard that Ororo had once been something of a gang leader.

Beneath her mature charm was a surprisingly fierce personality.

The tests that followed could be summed up in one phrase:

Exactly as expected.

They were all fairly conventional procedures, nothing particularly surprising.

However, the final results left Jean and Ororo completely stunned.

Jean repeatedly went through several pages of data, her gaze toward Wade becoming increasingly strange.

“Have you really never experienced your body getting out of control?”

“For example, your strength?”

Wade thought for a moment.

“No.

I’ve always just felt that my body was stronger than normal.”

“As for my actual limit, I really don’t know.

I’ve never needed to use that much strength.”

“Completely controllable abilities that don’t interfere with your daily life at all…”

Jean sighed.

“If every mutant possessed an innate talent like yours, there would probably be far fewer tragedies.”

Far too many mutants had caused tragedies after losing control when their powers first awakened.

“Your current maximum strength is approximately ten tons.”

“And you’re still in the early stages of awakening your abilities, so your strength will definitely continue to increase.”

Jean continued murmuring as she looked through the data.

“Your maximum speed is somewhere between ten and twenty kilometers per second, while your neural reaction speed is several thousand times faster than that of an ordinary human.”

“And that ridiculously powerful regenerative ability.”

Ororo couldn’t help adding,

“You’re practically a human-shaped monster.

Even Beast’s physical abilities can’t compare to yours.”

Beast?

She must mean Hank—the Professor’s trusted assistant.

“The physical examination is finished for now.”

Jean paused.

“But that’s not the most important part.”

Jean knew very well that although Wade’s physical abilities alone already qualified him as an Alpha-level mutant, he possessed an even more terrifying talent.

Wade took the shirt Jean tossed toward him.

The black clothing was made from an elastic material, perfectly outlining his lean yet muscular physique.

“So next, are we finding somewhere for me to see just how big a meteorite I can summon?”

At Wade’s question, the corner of Jean’s mouth twitched.

“We’ll have to ask the Profe—”

“Wade, Jean, Ororo.

Come to my office.”

A telepathic message crossed the distance and various barriers, appearing directly inside the minds of the three.

It was Charles calling them.

“Professor?”

Jean looked slightly puzzled.

But Charles offered no further explanation.

“Maybe the Professor has something else planned,” Ororo said.

“We should take him there first.”

Wade looked slightly disappointed.

“This is so sudden.

I was hoping to spend a little more time with you two beautiful ladies.”

Ororo didn’t seem to mind.

Jean, however, instantly turned cold.

“Get lost!”

Wade: QAQ

After Jean carefully confirmed that all the laboratory equipment had been shut down, the three of them finally left.

Charles’s office was located inside the castle on the estate. This chapter was taken from g.com without permission.

It had once been his personal study, but after the school was expanded, it had been converted into an office.

“You’re here.”

Charles looked unusually serious.

The expression immediately gave Wade a bad feeling.

Jean asked,

“Professor, what’s wrong?”

Charles lightly tapped his finger.

A screen behind them lit up.

A news broadcast was playing.

“A gigantic green humanoid creature has appeared on the streets of New York.

The creature is considered extremely dangerous.

All citizens are advised to avoid the following areas…”

“Is that Hulk?”

Wait.

The camera suddenly gave a close-up.

This wasn’t Hulk.

It was a bald monster with twisted skin.

And it had an ugly, terrifying tail.

Abomination?

Wade recognized the huge green creature almost instantly.

So this guy had already appeared?

Then Hulk should be coming soon too.

At first, Wade was merely curious.

After all, no matter how much destruction Abomination caused, it had nothing to do with him.

But then he saw the location where Abomination was.

Wade’s pupils gradually contracted.

Flushing, Queens.

Grandma?!

Wade felt a chill run through his entire body.

He didn’t dare imagine what would happen if his only family member were caught in the destruction caused by Abomination.

Charles immediately sensed the extreme instability in Wade’s emotions.

“Wade, calm down!”

“He hasn’t caused too much destruction yet.

Your grandmother should still be—”

This time, Charles didn’t call him Silent.

His grandmother?

Jean and Ororo looked at Wade in surprise.

Yet Wade didn’t lose control.

Instead, he remained frighteningly calm.

“Ororo, do you have a phone?”

Wade turned toward Ororo.

Ororo nodded.

“Yeah.

Do you want to make a call?”

Wade nodded.

With modern smartphones, making a call was incredibly convenient.

He dialed the only phone number in his home.

But the call wouldn’t go through.

It seemed…

The phone line had been cut.
