Although Jones held Obadiah in great contempt, he was also wary of him.
Even though Jones hadn’t actually helped Tony escape, Tony wasn’t going to tell anyone about that.
As far as everyone else was concerned, Tony had returned safely because of Jones’s help.
And there were plenty of people around the world who wanted Tony dead.
Yet the person who had come closest to succeeding was Obadiah.
Jones had single-handedly ruined his plan.
He had no reason to believe Obadiah wouldn’t try to get revenge on him.
However, for the time being, Obadiah probably wouldn’t make any extreme moves.
Thinking about this, Jones couldn’t help feeling a headache coming on.
Putting everything else aside, he had barely arrived in the Marvel world and hadn’t even accomplished anything yet, but he had already offended both the largest and second-largest shareholders of Stark Industries.
That was quite an achievement.
The only thing worth being thankful for was that neither of them would make a move against him anytime soon, right?
With a self-mocking smile, Jones followed Obadiah and Tony into the press conference.
A wealthy and powerful playboy like Tony was undoubtedly one of the media’s favorite subjects.
The reporters outside had already been looking impatient to get their hands on him.
Now that they had entered the actual press conference, the reporters could no longer hold themselves back.
They immediately surrounded Tony!
Facing the reporters, Tony handled himself with ease.
He kept talking to them without revealing any information of real value, while his footsteps never stopped moving.
Before long, he had reached the podium.
Perhaps because he needed to announce Jones’s existence, Tony didn’t sit on the floor and eat a hamburger while talking to the reporters as he had in the original story.
This made Tony appear considerably more serious.
“All right, everyone can quiet down now!”
Looking at the reporters below, Tony cleared his throat and spoke.
“You all know that I just escaped from a place I’d rather not talk about.
Honestly, under normal circumstances, I should be in a hospital right now undergoing all kinds of examinations, or perhaps at my mansion enjoying the happiness of being home after so long.
But instead, I’m standing here.”
Tony paused briefly before continuing.
“Of course, I’ll still do those two things after this press conference.
But before that, I have two things to announce here!”
As he spoke, Tony waved toward Jones behind him.
Seeing Tony’s gesture, Jones naturally understood what he intended to do.
A smile appeared at the corners of his mouth as he walked toward the podium.
“The first thing is that I want to introduce someone to all of you!”
Tony wrapped an arm around Jones’s neck, looking completely familiar with him.
“Jones, the guy who saved my life.
Without him, I don’t even know whether I’d have had the chance to make it back to America!”
Hearing Tony’s words, the reporters below froze for a moment before a barrage of camera flashes erupted.
Film was practically being wasted on Jones as the reporters desperately took pictures.
While they were doing so, the envious looks in their eyes even made Jones feel a little uncomfortable.
Tony Stark’s lifesaver.
Jones didn’t know the value of this identity.
If the reporters below had been given a choice, they probably would have been willing to trade places with Jones even if it meant breaking an arm or a leg.
Of course, putting aside how valuable this identity was, even if Jones knew its worth, he wouldn’t care.
Tony’s current behavior was completely an act.
If Jones weren’t holding information that Tony absolutely needed to know, he would probably already be lying on an iron bed in an American prison.
There was one person who genuinely deserved Tony’s gratitude.
It was just a question of whether Tony could still find his body among a pile of charred remains.
After Tony finished introducing him, Jones immediately stepped down from the podium.
Although his exposure was already unavoidable, it was still better to minimize it as much as possible.
Tony didn’t care about Jones’s actions.
After all, Jones wasn’t the main purpose of today’s press conference.
Glancing at the reporters below who were still frantically taking pictures of Jones, a strange smile appeared on Tony’s lips.
The next piece of news should give them quite a shock, right?
…
“Mr.
Jones!”
Not long after Jones stepped down from the podium, Pepper suddenly walked up to him.
Beside her was a man who looked to be under forty, with a slightly receding hairline.
“This is Agent Coulson.
He’s from the Strategic Homeland Intervention…”
Pepper suddenly paused and turned toward Coulson, an embarrassed expression appearing on her face.
“Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division.
I’m Agent Coulson.
Nice to meet you, Mr.
Jones.”
Seeing Pepper’s expression, Coulson naturally finished her sentence.
“I’d like to hear the details of how Stark escaped.”
“Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division?
That’s quite a mouthful!”
Hearing Coulson’s words, Jones curled his lips, but he didn’t answer Coulson’s question directly.
