Jones was delighted, but Yale behind him was in no mood to share his happiness.
Staring viciously at Jones’s departing back, Yale’s face was filled with a gloomy expression.
He had every reason to resent Jones.
Yale’s status among the terrorists wasn’t particularly high either, but at least he hadn’t originally been assigned the troublesome and thankless job of guarding Tony.
But after what happened with Jones, although the Boss had confirmed that Tony wasn’t responsible, he had still become somewhat more cautious and vigilant.
That was why he had decided to keep an eye on Tony day and night.
Watching him around the clock naturally couldn’t be handled by Jones alone.
Someone unlucky had to be found to take turns with Jones.
And Yale was the unlucky one who had been chosen.
Jones naturally understood this, but he didn’t care in the slightest.
So what if he had offended Yale, a terrorist with little authority?
As long as it meant he could stay under the sunlight every day, Jones wouldn’t care even if he offended four or five terrorists.
What was there to fear?
They couldn’t possibly kill him on the spot anyway!
Bathing once again in the warm sunlight, Jones was in an exceptionally good mood.
As terrorists, and more specifically, the terrorists who had kidnapped Tony Stark, Jones and the others didn’t have any other plans for the time being.
Anyone who hadn’t been assigned a task was free to move around as long as they didn’t leave the base.
Since Jones had to take the night shift, he now counted as someone without any daytime work…
The moment he walked out of the cave, Jones climbed onto a crate of ammunition, lay directly on top of it, and then…
simply opened his eyes wide and stared at the sun in the sky.
The ammunition crate was high enough that the people below couldn’t see whether Jones’s eyes were open, so he didn’t have to worry about his behavior attracting suspicion.
As for what would happen when he had no energy left to stand watch at night?!
Who cared!!!
Compared with his own life, none of that mattered!
…
And so, Jones settled into a routine of absorbing light and radiation during the day and watching Tony at night.
The abilities of his eyes also grew stronger with each passing day.
All of Superman’s enhanced visual abilities had now been activated, and as far as long-distance vision was concerned, Jones could even clearly see flies two or three kilometers away.
As for the heat vision that Jones cared about the most, it was also far more powerful than when he had first tested it.
Although his circumstances prevented him from conducting any precise tests, Jones estimated that the temperature of his heat vision had already reached the point where it could melt steel.
And even without considering temperature, in terms of pure impact force, his heat vision could directly shatter a small rock.
This level of strength was still far inferior to Scott’s optic blasts, but it was already enough for Jones to protect himself.
Moreover, Scott’s optic blasts were primarily based on concussive force.
Although the two abilities looked similar, they were actually developing along completely different paths.
Thinking about Scott and his optic blasts, Jones couldn’t help feeling a little sour.
Scott’s optic blasts came from his mutant powers, and they were an especially powerful type among mutant abilities.
The moment Scott awakened his powers, his strength was already extraordinary, and it only continued to grow stronger as time passed.
As for Jones, when his eyes first awakened, they were basically no different from those of an ordinary person.
He had worked himself to the bone absorbing light and radiation every day, and it had taken nearly three months for him to reach his current level.
The difference was truly enormous!
That’s right!!
Nearly three months had now passed since Jones first awakened Superman’s eyes.
Although he didn’t know much about physics or energy-related sciences, by observing through his X-ray vision, Jones had more or less determined that Tony’s Iron Man armor was almost finished.
And correspondingly, the Boss’s patience…
was already nearing its limit!!
That day, not long after Jones had relieved Yale, he saw the Boss leading a group of men toward the room where Tony was being held.
Looking at the tightly closed iron door in front of him, the Boss took a deep breath before turning his gaze toward Jones.
“Open it!”
“Yes!”
Jones nodded lightly.
He immediately pulled out the key from his pocket and unlocked the large padlock on the iron door behind him.
Of course, the door imprisoning Tony Stark couldn’t possibly be secured by a single lock.
After activating several more mechanisms, the Boss finally pushed hard against the door and managed to open it.
The Boss then led a group of fierce-looking terrorists inside one after another…
Jones naturally followed them in as well.
The moment he entered, Jones’s gaze instinctively shifted toward Tony and Yinsen.
Faced with the sudden intrusion of the terrorists, the two instinctively exchanged a glance, their eyes filled with confusion…
and unease.
“Still…
this guy looks a lot more spirited than he did three months ago!”
Quietly observing Tony Stark, Jones drew a conclusion.
“It’s not just his appearance.
Tony himself seems completely different.
Sure enough, this experience of being kidnapped has completely changed the way Tony thinks!
Although the Iron Man armor hasn’t been fully developed yet, he already has the mindset of Iron Man!”
After all…
he wasn’t the only one growing stronger in this world!
