Westview is a small town with complete facilities.

It has everything you would expect from a town, including a playground and a food street that stretches all the way to the end.

Several shops are open at noon.Full novel: Marvel: Living the Laid-Back Life — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

There isn’t much foot traffic, and only a few customers are scattered around the tables.

“Chinese food.

The owner grew up in China and learned how to cook well.”

Levi sat down in his usual seat, the warm autumn sunlight shining through the window and falling across his face.

Looking at the woman eating across from him, he spoke slowly.

“I haven’t had Chinese food before, but it tastes pretty good.”

Wanda ate the braised pork from her bowl with a fork, the corners of her mouth slightly stained with oil as she spoke.

Her bewitchingly beautiful eyes revealed the lingering melancholy she had in the movie.

“Wanda, did you move here for work?”

Naturally, Levi wasn’t going to let such a good opportunity pass him by, so he asked directly.

“I…

I don’t have any other plans at the moment.

I just want to settle down here.”

Wanda was slightly taken aback when she heard this, then changed the subject.

“You don’t know me?”

“You’re an Avenger, and I think there are very few people who don’t know you.”

Levi replied.

“I’m not famous, and not every Avenger is popular.”

Wanda shook her head.

In fact, after five years, she was far less famous than before.

Besides, she had never been particularly famous to begin with, so few people knew her.

Obviously, asking this wasn’t narcissism.

She simply wanted to change the subject.

“But all Avengers are heroes, and sometimes they just can’t help themselves.”

Levi watched as Wanda subconsciously tightened her grip on the fork and softly comforted her.

“Thanks.”

The gloom in Wanda’s eyes showed that she didn’t want to talk about the Avengers.

“The environment in Westview is nice.

I heard that many people choose to come here for vacation.”

“Ahem…

It’s actually just a marketing gimmick.

Westview isn’t as beautiful as people imagine.”

Levi choked slightly when he heard her say that.

Other people might not hear the hidden meaning behind her words, but as someone who knew what was going to happen, he felt that Wanda’s words sounded exactly like an emperor evaluating a city after choosing it as his destination.

“When I was a kid, I yearned for sitcoms.

People in them had happy lives.

They never seemed to cry over the hardships of life, and everything always went well…”

Wanda spoke with her beautiful eyes slightly lowered and sighed deeply.

“Because they’re optimistic and yearn for hope.”

Levi could feel the woman’s depressed mood.

He could even sense the Chaos Magic inside her, which had begun behaving strangely with her emotional fluctuations, as though everything around her was being affected.

As a transmigrator, he knew what Wanda was feeling at that moment.

She had grown up amid the flames of war, in a dark and bleak environment.

Although the sitcoms on television were in black and white, they were among the few things that could bring her joy during her childhood.

Even the fantasy world Wanda created with Chaos Magic played out in the style of a sitcom.

Some people said that it was Wanda’s call for hope from the bottom of her heart, as well as her subconscious plea to the world for help.

That was why she ultimately chose to stop.

“Optimism…”

Wanda muttered to herself.

Then something suddenly occurred to her.

She quickly wiped her mouth and stood up.

“Levi, thank you for lunch.

I have to leave early.

Bye.”

“Bye.”

Levi originally wanted to follow her out because he still hadn’t figured out what Wanda was thinking.

After all, judging from the current timeline, Wanda’s takeover of Westview could happen at any time, and he didn’t want to end up living inside someone else’s fantasy town.

However, if he followed her out too rashly, it would definitely arouse her suspicion.

Moreover, this whole incident would happen eventually, and it was probably impossible for it to happen within just a few hours.

So he would put it aside for now.

At the same time.

Wanda left the restaurant, walked onto a deserted street, and opened her hands.

Strange Chaos Magic appeared in her palms, wrapped around her entire body, and lifted her into the air as she flew toward the sky.

In the eyes of outsiders.

There was nothing but empty space in the sky.

A moment later.

With the help of magic, Wanda arrived at a building.

The place was heavily guarded, with men in black patrolling outside everywhere, guns in hand.

She landed and walked straight toward the entrance.

When she reached the lobby near the elevator, someone at the front desk spotted her and hurried over to block her path.

“Sorry, ma’am.

You can’t go in.”

“Step aside.”

Wanda’s tone was indifferent, and a faint reddish glow flickered in her eyes, ready to burst forth.

It seemed as though it would pour out in the next second.

“She’s Wanda Maximoff.

Let her in.”

At that moment, a low voice sounded in the receptionist’s ear.

“Yes.”

The receptionist looked up at Wanda and slowly said, “Go in.”

He raised his hand and opened the elevator doors.

Wanda was puzzled.

She looked at the camera above her with indifferent eyes.

She could tell that the man knew she was coming and also knew what she intended to do here.

But the other party actually let her in…

…

A moment later.

The elevator started moving and carried Wanda down to the underground laboratory.

The heavy metal doors slowly opened, revealing a man in a suit and dress shoes who was already waiting there.

“Hayward, Director of S.W.O.R.D.”

Hayward politely held out his hand and smiled.

“Why did you let me in?”

Wanda was a little puzzled.

“Please, follow me.”

Hayward didn’t answer directly.

Instead, he pushed open the door and walked toward the central area of the laboratory.

Wanda followed behind him, still puzzled, but she continued through the reinforced glass doors and into the exhibition hall.

Then the sound of mechanical disassembly reached her ears.

Wanda glanced down, then turned to Hayward.

“What is this?

Why are you showing me this?”

“Didn’t you say before that you wanted to see him?”

Hayward responded lightly.

Wanda’s heart tightened when she heard this, as if she had realized something.

She stiffly turned around and looked down.

If she looked closely, she could see a robot being dismantled by the staff, who were using high-speed cutting tools to remove its legs and arms.

As the staff moved aside, the view from above finally revealed the robot’s head clearly.

It was a former member of the Avengers—Vision!

Except that at this moment, he had lost all vitality, and the dark red color of his former body had turned gray.

“Stop…

stop…”

Wanda watched as her former lover was dismantled before her eyes.

Her eyes unconsciously turned red, and she asked in a trembling voice, “Why?

What are you doing?”

“We’re dismantling the most sophisticated and advanced sentient weapon ever created.”

Hayward’s expression remained flat, as if he were explaining something completely ordinary.

“But Vision isn’t a weapon.

You can’t do this.”

Wanda defended him almost instinctively.

“Actually, S.W.O.R.D.

is legally and morally obligated to do so.”

Hayward explained unhurriedly.

“I just want to bury him properly.

That’s my only request.”

Wanda suppressed the emotions in her heart and stated her request.

“You sure?”

Hayward continued, “Not everyone has the ability to bring their soulmate back online.”

“Sorry, Wanda, but he isn’t yours, and no one can bring him back to life.”

“I won’t let you take this two-billion-dollar Vibranium asset and bury it in the ground.”

Wanda looked down at Vision with a slightly dull expression, obviously not listening to Hayward.

For a moment, a faint gleam appeared in her beautiful eyes, and dark red energy began to flow…

She didn’t know what she was thinking…
