Manhattan, New York, United States.
Inside a pet shop named X, cats and dogs of all kinds lay in their cages, napping in the warm sunlight.
At the counter, however, a young Asian man with black hair and dark eyes was sighing.
“What am I supposed to do…?”
He looked deeply troubled.
“So much for transmigrators getting special perks.”
The young man muttered something no one else would have understood.
His name was Adrian Cross, and he was a transmigrator.
As both a movie buff and something of a comic-book fan, Adrian Cross had figured out exactly what kind of world he had arrived in on his very first day here.
The way he figured it out was simple—when he first transmigrated, he discovered a Captain America poster hanging in his room, while the television was reporting news about some mutant committing a robbery…
So it hadn’t taken Adrian Cross long to determine that this was the Marvel universe, and judging from what he had seen so far, it seemed to be primarily based on the movie universe.
As for his new identity, he was now a Chinese-American young man whose parents had died when he was young.
After inheriting their estate, he had opened a pet shop in Manhattan.
His name was Adrian Cross.
Of course, by all rights, his current life—raising cats, feeding dogs, and running his little shop every day—was actually pretty comfortable.
But there was no way Adrian Cross could truly relax and settle into a peaceful life!
Did he not know what kind of place the Marvel universe was?
This was a dangerous world where superpowered people were everywhere and alien invasions happened with alarming regularity!
Forget everything else—even when that purple sweet potato invaded a few years from now, all it would take was one snap of his fingers, and Adrian Cross would have a fifty-fifty chance of dropping dead.
That was why Adrian Cross had already made up his mind from the moment he arrived in this world.
He needed power.
Otherwise, how was he supposed to survive all those disasters waiting for him in the future?
“Am I seriously supposed to go find a spider and make it bite me?”
Adrian Cross muttered to himself as he fed a Pomeranian in the cage in front of him.
But just then…
[World adaptation complete.
Total time elapsed: 3 months.
‘Legendary Pokémon Summoning System’ activated.]
[Binding host…]
[Binding successful.
Summoner Panel activated.]
[Summoner: Adrian Cross]
[Summoned Pokémon: None]
[Skills: None]
[Points: 0]
“What the hell?”
Hearing the voice inside his head, Adrian Cross was speechless.
So transmigrators really did get special perks after all?
But wasn’t his cheat a little too unreliable?
He had heard of delayed deliveries, but who the hell delivered something three months late?
Complaints aside, Adrian Cross knew exactly what he needed to do.
First and foremost, he had to figure out what this system could actually do!
After awkwardly feeling his way through the system and studying it for a while, Adrian Cross quickly understood.
The Legendary Pokémon Summoning System was exactly what its name suggested—Adrian Cross could summon all kinds of legendary creatures.
However, these “legendary creatures” weren’t the dragons, phoenixes, and other mythical beasts Adrian Cross was familiar with.
They were Legendary and Mythical Pokémon from another anime franchise—Pokémon.
Furthermore, whenever Adrian Cross summoned one of these Pokémon, he himself would randomly obtain one of that Pokémon’s abilities, along with corresponding attribute enhancements.
Of course, the system could also randomly summon powerful items related to Legendary Pokémon.
“This is incredible!”
Adrian Cross was naturally no stranger to Pokémon, and he knew perfectly well just how powerful its Legendary Pokémon could be.
Even relatively weaker Legendary Pokémon like Articuno could easily freeze the ocean.
That alone would put it at roughly the level of an Omega-level mutant.
As for the strongest Pokémon, Arceus was the creator deity of the Pokémon world.
In terms of sheer status, it was probably comparable to Marvel’s five great cosmic entities.
“System, how do I summon something?”
[The host may perform five initial summons free of charge.
The success rate of these initial summons is increased by 20%.]
[All subsequent summons require Points.
Each summon costs 100 Points.]
“How do I earn Points?”
[The host can earn large amounts of Points by participating in and altering the original course of events in this world.]
[Points can also be obtained by increasing Reputation, collecting treasures, and defeating enemies.]
Adrian Cross was quite satisfied with the system’s answer.
Having so many ways to earn Points was undoubtedly good news for him.
With nothing else left to ask, Adrian Cross immediately went to the bathroom, washed his face, and even made the rare effort of using facial cleanser.
It was simply basic preparation for an infamously unlucky gacha player about to test his luck.
Then…
“System!
Start summoning!”
[Summoning initiated!]
The system responded immediately.
An illusory wall of light appeared before Adrian Cross.
Beyond that translucent wall, he could see countless silhouettes.
There was an enormous silhouette resembling a whale—the embodiment of the sea, Kyogre.
There was a colossal silhouette resembling a dinosaur—the embodiment of the land, Groudon.
There was a silhouette with sharp protrusions covering its body—the deity of space, Palkia.
And besides the silhouettes of Pokémon, there were also silhouettes of several unique items within the summoning space.
The Flame Plate of the creator deity, Arceus—while held, it granted immunity to all Fire-type attacks.
A Key Stone for Dragon-type Pokémon—while held, it could allow Dragon-type Pokémon to undergo Mega Evolution.
As the summoning began, all those silhouettes instantly started flickering and changing.
[Summoning failed.
Better luck next time.]
[Summoning failed.
Better luck next time.]
[Summoning failed.
Better luck next time.]
[Summoning failed.
Better luck next time.]
“What the hell?!
I can still be this unlucky even with a boosted summon rate?
Don’t tell me my cursed FGO luck—the kind that gives me absolutely nothing after a hundred pulls—followed me into this world!”
Staring at the notifications informing him that he had failed four summons in a row, Adrian Cross nearly coughed up blood on the spot.
But then…
“Hm?”
Just as Adrian Cross was sinking into despair over his cursed luck, probability itself finally decided not to abandon him.
[Congratulations, host.
Summoning successful!]
As the voice rang out, one of the countless silhouettes before Adrian Cross gradually became clear.
Then, as the system’s announcement faded, the phantom before him directly transformed into a tiny figure.
It was a fairy-like creature with a green body and enormous eyes.
[The host has obtained the Mythical Pokémon—Celebi!]
