Daniel swore to himself, "I am never taking Carol flying again."
She was absolutely terrifying.
After getting over the initial discomfort, Carol had spent the entire flight wriggling around on his back, excited out of her mind.
Daniel had to keep flying, keep an eye on her, and answer her endless stream of questions all at the same time. It was exhausting.
And he couldn’t even fly that fast.
He was traveling at less than half the speed of sound. To Daniel, that wasn’t even crawling.
But Carol was still just a normal human. She couldn’t handle breaking the sound barrier.
If he were alone, Daniel was confident he could reach any place on Earth within a few minutes.
The worst part was that Carol never sat still. She kept directing him from behind, pointing here and there as if she were the pilot and he was the airplane.
"Dive!"
"Turn!"
"Spin around!"
"Go over there!"
"Whoa! This is so cool!"
Carol couldn’t stop exclaiming in amazement.
At this point, she was genuinely jealous.
Flying.
Just imagining being able to soar through the sky whenever she wanted made her envious of Daniel’s powers.
"Can you stop moving around for one minute?" Daniel said irritably. "And stay close to my back. I’m going to speed up."
At their current pace, reaching Africa would take an entire day.
"If it starts getting too much for you, tell me immediately!" Daniel shouted over the wind.
The air rushing past them was so loud that anything quieter would be impossible to hear.
"Got it!"
Daniel began accelerating.
They shot through layers of clouds, leaving a long white trail behind them.
Even while flying, Daniel kept his super vision active.
He avoided passenger planes.
Avoided radar coverage.
Avoided satellites.
After all, fewer complications meant fewer headaches. He wasn’t afraid of being exposed.
He just hated trouble.
For Carol, maintaining high-speed flight for long periods was still difficult.
So they traveled in stages. After every hour or two, Daniel would stop somewhere and let her rest before continuing.
And so they flew.
From morning until well into the night.
More than ten hours passed before they finally arrived above the African savannah.
Daniel had been far too optimistic.
He hadn’t expected the trip to take this long.
Fortunately, there was nearly a seven-hour time difference between their departure point and Africa, so when they arrived, it was still afternoon.
The summer savannah was overflowing with life.
Golden grass stretched endlessly toward the horizon.
Warm winds swept across the plains.
Animals moved freely through the vast wilderness.
After arriving, even Daniel found himself becoming interested.
There was a wildness here.
A primal atmosphere that seemed to permeate everything.
The moment he stepped onto the grassland, he felt noticeably more relaxed.
Daniel quickly led Carol into an uninhabited region.
This was truly an animal paradise.
Countless wild beasts roamed the area.
Even veteran hunters would tread carefully here, always alert, never letting their guard down.
Daniel, however, didn’t have to worry about any of that.
And because he was here, neither did Carol.
On this stretch of land, with Daniel by her side, she could practically do whatever she wanted.
Knowing how absurdly powerful he was, Carol wandered through the grasslands completely at ease.
She looked less like someone exploring dangerous wilderness and more like a tourist on a relaxing outing.
"Let’s take a look around first," Daniel suggested.
Neither of them had anything urgent to do.
Strictly speaking, this trip was a vacation.
Helping Carol get stronger was just a side objective.
Now that they had finally arrived in Africa, Carol wasn’t in any hurry either.
Many of the animals here were ones she had only ever seen in zoos.
But seeing them this close?
In their natural habitat?
That was completely different.
And with Daniel acting as her personal bodyguard, there was no reason to worry.
"Sure," Carol said enthusiastically. "I want to ride a lion!"
Daniel blinked.
"What?"
"I said I want to ride a lion!"
Her eyes sparkled.
"Not just a lion. I want to ride a rhinoceros too. And a tiger. I’m riding all of them."
Every animal she named was some kind of dangerous beast.
"Are there even tigers here?" Daniel asked.
Carol paused.
"There aren’t?"
"Go find one."
"Oh."
She thought for a second.
"Then I won’t ride a tiger."
"Are you not worried they’ll bite you?"
"Nope."
Carol answered casually.
"You’ll be right beside me as my bodyguard."
To her, the logic was simple.
Daniel could fly.
He could cross half the planet carrying another person on his back.
Compared to that, a few wild animals were hardly a threat.
With her safety guaranteed, she was completely letting loose.
When she was a kid visiting zoos, she’d always dreamed about riding those majestic predators.
Now she finally had the chance.
Why wouldn’t she try?
Besides... she’d just spent over ten hours flying through the sky.
Had she looked scared even once?
"Fine," Daniel said with a chuckle.
He was in a good mood and didn’t refuse.
For him, this was nothing more than a trivial task.
When they found a lion, he’d simply walk over and punch it a few times until it lay flat on the ground.
Then Carol could climb on top.
As for whether the lion would willingly stand up and carry her around...
That wasn’t his problem.
"Hop on my back," Daniel said.
"Flying again?"
This time Carol didn’t hesitate in the slightest.
She immediately jumped onto his back with excitement.
"No flying."
Daniel grinned.
"We’re running."
The moment he finished speaking, he launched forward.
His legs exploded into motion.
Dust erupted behind him.
The scenery around them became a blur.
At one point, a cheetah spotted the two humans racing recklessly through what it considered its territory.
The animal immediately became annoyed.
It took off after them.
For nearly a minute, it chased with everything it had.
Unfortunately, it never got any closer.
Eventually, exhausted and panting, it came to a stop and roared furiously from behind.
"Hahaha!"
Carol noticed the pursuit and burst into laughter.
"Eat dust!"
She shouted toward the distant cheetah.
At this point, Caro was basically borrowing Daniel’s power to act tough.
Or more accurately... relying on Daniel to bully wild animals.
After running for a while longer, they finally encountered a pride of lions.
One male lion.
Eight or nine lionesses.
Daniel stopped directly in front of them.
The male lion had been enjoying a peaceful afternoon nap beneath a tree when the two suspicious-looking humans suddenly appeared and ruined everything.
"Daniel, go!"
Carol cracked her knuckles eagerly.
"I want to ride that one!"
Daniel gave her a helpless look before turning toward the lion.
The lion rose to its feet, clearly irritated.
It shook its massive body.
Its fierce eyes locked onto the two intruders.
"ROAR!"
The lion bellowed.
"What are you yelling for?"
Daniel replied.
Then he disappeared.
In the next instant, he appeared less than a meter in front of the lion.
The lion visibly jumped.
It instinctively stepped backward before roaring again.
"ROAR!"
Whether it was a warning or a threat, Daniel had no idea.
He didn’t speak the lion’s language.
While Daniel and the male lion stared each other down, seven or eight lionesses had quietly circled around them.
The pride was preparing to attack.
Daniel noticed it but he simply didn’t care.
As long as they didn’t go after Carol.
"Come on," Daniel said, reaching out a hand.
"Let me pet you."
The lion was in its prime.
Its magnificent mane gave it an especially imposing appearance.
Faced with a hand being shoved right in front of its face, how could the king of beasts tolerate such disrespect?
The lion opened its jaws and bit down hard.
Crunch!
It failed to bite through Daniel’s skin.
Instead, one of its own teeth cracked.
"Whimper..."
The lion immediately let go.
Its tooth hurt.... a lot.
"Wouldn’t it have been better to behave?" Daniel said.
"You insisted on biting me. See? Now your tooth’s broken."
At the same time, the surrounding lionesses launched their attack.
This time Daniel wasn’t going to let them bite him.
If they tore his clothes, he’d be in trouble.
He hadn’t brought any spare clothes.
With a quick flash, he dodged the charging lionesses.
Then he grabbed the male lion by the scruff with one hand.
Spun it around.
Scooped up Carol with the other and vanished.
The lionesses froze.
One looked at another.
Then another looked back.
Where did that thing go?
More importantly...
Where was their lion?
Had that strange creature just kidnapped their husband?
The lionesses became furious.
"ROAR!"
"ROAR!"
Several lionesses roared angrily toward the sky.
That bastard had stolen their husband!
Meanwhile, Daniel carried both Carol and the lion and sprinted over ten miles in one breath.
Only then did he stop, he set both of them down.
The moment its paws touched the ground, the male lion lost every trace of its previous majesty.
Gone was the proud king of beasts.
Now it was curled into a trembling ball.
Shivering.
Terrified.
It was scared.
This bandit had kidnapped it and now something terrible was about to happen to it.
Being a lion was hard enough already.
Why couldn’t they just let lions live in peace?
