“Casually saved your life?
I’ve casually saved a lot of people.”
Gaia looked at the girl’s long blonde hair, realizing he had no recollection of her at all.
Just as he was about to rack his brain over when he had ever met Gwen Stacy—this iconic character from Spider-Man—Little Gaia leaped onto his shoulder and delivered a hard punch to his head, barking in reprimand:
“Hey!
What the hell are you doing?!
Our priority right now is keeping an eye on Peter!
If Peter gets bitten, we’re going to suffer horribly—even if I don’t know what kind of horrible we’re talking about!”
Gaia rubbed his head.
“Sorry, pal.
You’re right.
I was being a dumbass, forgetting what’s important.”
After apologizing to Little Gaia, Gaia looked up at Gwen and gave a polite smile.
“Ah, so it’s you, Miss Stacy.
Pleasure to meet you.”
The moment the words left his mouth, Gaia wiped the smile from his face, turned his gaze away from Gwen, and locked it right back onto Peter.
His expression turned deadly serious, looking like a sniper zeroing in on a target.
Gwen watched the entire process of Gaia talking to thin air, standing frozen in place, momentarily at a loss for words.
She knew about Gaia’s condition, but she hadn’t expected him to be this severely ill.
*Poor Mr.
Parker…
and he’s such a good person.*
Gwen looked at Gaia with eyes full of pity.
Soft-hearted as she was, she voluntarily stepped beside him to guard him against anyone who might mock or pick on this poor patient.
The exhibition path flowed like a meticulously designed river, guiding the crowd of students from the main lobby toward the central display area.
Gaia trailed three paces behind Peter like an alert sheepdog.
His eyes stayed locked onto the back of Peter’s head, occasionally scanning the ventilation ducts on the ceiling and the holographic projection gear hanging under the dome.
Oscorp’s security system looked tight enough to the naked eye.
But Gaia knew that the real danger often came from those seemingly harmless, transparent glass containers.
That damned Spider-Totem was a master at finding loopholes just to ruin poor Peter’s life.
“Gaia.”
Harry noticed Gwen following right behind Gaia.
With a mischievous smirk, he slowed his pace and dropped back next to Gaia, giving him an “I get it” look.
“Not bad, bro.
She’s really pretty.”
Gaia looked at Harry in surprise, about to say something, but as he lowered his head, his peripheral vision caught a flash of a multicolored spider.
In a trajectory that defied both physics and aerodynamics, it zigzagged through the air, flying straight toward Peter!
“???!!!”
Gaia was thoroughly stunned by the utter shamelessness of the Spider-Totem.
Little Gaia threw a fit right on his shoulder, jumping up and down while screaming obscenities: “Motherfucker!
Out of all the parallel universes with so many Peters who aren’t Spider-Man, why are you fixated on my Peter?!”
Snapping out of his shock, Gaia immediately lunged forward, reaching out to yank Peter out of the way.
What nobody expected, however, was that Gaia’s step landed right on a discarded banana peel!
With a heavy *THUD*, Gaia crashed violently to the floor.
Little Gaia’s voice cracked into a screech: “Who was it?!
Who threw a banana peel on the floor with zero manners?!
And this janitor—fire them!
They must be fired!
So damn unprofessional!”
At that exact instant, the spider landed on Peter and bit down hard.
Watching this unfold, Little Gaia stomped his feet in pure rage.
“Did we really fail in the end?!
Motherfucking Spider-Totem, son-of-a-bitch Master Weaver—you deserve being imprisoned by the Inheritors!”
Seeing Gaia fall, Gwen and Harry rushed forward to help him up.
Gaia just lay there semi-reclined on the floor, motionless, staring blankly at the bitten Peter.
At this moment, he felt as though the Death Star were shining directly over his head.
Just as Gaia hit rock bottom and opened his mouth to unleash a torrent of curses, he suddenly felt a sharp pain in his neck, as if something had nipped him.
Realizing something was wrong, a cold sweat broke out across Gaia’s entire body.
He hastily reached up to grab his neck, but apart from a thin strand of spider silk, he caught nothing.
*Could it be?!*
Little Gaia covered his face with both hands, wailing in despair: “Two Spider-Men in one universe?!
Holy shit!
Master Weaver, if you’re picking someone, pick properly!
Neither Khonshu nor Mephisto wanted me—how can a higher-dimensional being like you fall for me?!
And Spider-Goddess, you damned slut, how could you jump me right after finishing off Peter?!
I don’t want to be Spider-Man!!!”
Being a transmigrator who still had both parents had already been a stroke of pure luck.
Now he had two layers of Spider-Man buffs stacked on top of him—red and blue buffs fully loaded.
He was completely finished.
Feeling that life was hopeless, as if foreseeing a future where he was abandoned by friends and living in dire poverty, Gaia was just about to console himself that it wasn’t like there weren’t Spider-Men who lived happy, fulfilling lives…
when a scream shattered the air beside him.
Gaia instinctively looked over and saw Gwen right next to him.
On the back of her hand were two tiny puncture marks bleeding tiny drops of red.
In her other hand, she held a squashed, black-and-white dead spider.
“???!!!”
Gaia and Little Gaia said at the same time: “Three Supreme Beings in one family?!
Two guys and a girl—why?!
Is it because a triangle is the most stable shape?!”
Before Gaia could ponder what kind of universe would ever require three Spider-Men, the concerned voices of Peter, Harry, and Mary Jane broke out around them.
“Gaia, are you okay?”
Gaia shook his head, feeling a bit dizzy.
He glanced at Peter, who was sweating bullets, then forcefully stood up and said with absolute gravity, “I’m fine.”
With that, Gaia grabbed Gwen’s hand, snatched the dead spider right out of her palm, and shoved it straight into his mouth!
He didn’t even know why he did it, but he couldn’t care less anymore.
Everyone present stared in absolute shock, their mouths wide open, unable to utter a single word.
How could they even begin to describe this scene?
After falling down, Gaia had first stared blankly, then for some unknown reason turned purple in the face with pale lips.
Finally, he suddenly bolted upright and ate a dead spider!
Dear God!
Gaia chewed twice and swallowed the spider down.
How to describe the taste?
There was a distinct foul, fishy stench upon entry, like a rotting beetle.
The outer shell was hard and rough, with a gritty texture as he chewed, and the inner fluids carried a bitter, astringent bite.
Gaia felt his tongue going insanely numb.
Sticking his tongue out, Gaia abruptly turned his head toward Peter.
Peter, who was already feeling feverish and miserable from the spider bite, instantly shivered from head to toe.
[Spider Mini-Theater: Oh man, you would not believe this scene.
Cousin Gaia looks like a zombie, a vampire, or an Eastern jiangshi right now.
I remember when I was little, he used to tell me ghost stories from the East.
He said that when a corpse turns into a jiangshi, it goes after its blood relatives first.
(Little Gaia kicks open a coffin lid, crawls out, and pounces on little Parker who’s crying at a grave.
Ignoring little Parker’s wails for mercy, he bites into little Parker’s neck and sucks him dry into a withered corpse.)]
Peter let out a dry, terrified laugh.
“Gaia…
how are you feeling?”
Gaia looked at Peter, who was drenched in sweat, then turned to look at Gwen beside him, seeing that she was also covered in cold sweat.
Within a single second, after a fierce internal mental struggle, Gaia scooped up Gwen over one shoulder, then charged over to Peter and hoisted him up over the other shoulder.
Amid the confusion and bewilderment of Gwen and Peter, and under the shocked gazes of everyone present, Gaia hauled one person on each side and bolted out of the Oscorp exhibition center at blinding speed, vanishing from sight in the blink of an eye.
Watching Gaia sprint off carrying two people, Harry scratched his head.
“How should I put this?
I really think Gaia should compete in the Olympics or play professional football.”
Mary Jane shook her head.
“No, I think Gaia should enlist.
He’d be the ultimate soldier—like Captain America.”
As the two talked, the teacher leading the tour couldn’t help but speak up.
“Um, shouldn’t we call the police?
That guy just ate an Oscorp experimental specimen and kidnapped a female student from another class!”
Hearing this, Harry and Mary Jane exchanged a look.
Harry pulled a thick stack of hundred-dollar bills from his jacket and tossed it to the teacher.
The teacher instantly understood.
He slapped his chest, made a zipping motion over his mouth, turned around, and began instructing the remaining students to keep quiet.
