Tony took off on the spot, flying toward the weapons cache not far away.
Those weapons were all supplied to this group of terrorists by Obadiah, and without exception, every single one was stamped with the Stark Industries logo.
For Tony, who had only recently announced the shutdown of Stark Industries’ weapons division at a press conference, the existence of this cache was undeniably a severe slap in the face.
That was why he had agreed so readily to Leon’s proposal to split up.
“Alright.”
“Who’s the leader around here?”
As he spoke, Leon casually fired a backhand shot, blowing away a masked terrorist who was trying to sneak up on him from behind…
Well, actually, Leon was just lucky; he only grazed and severed the guy’s junk, and Arcee ultimately finished him off with a shot from her beam cannon, sending him straight to the afterlife.
The scene…
not a scrap of bone remained.
It was gruesome.
Yet that single gunshot and cannon blast completely ignited the violence of the terrorists.
Jabbering away in languages no one could understand, they all pulled out their guns, aimed at Leon and Arcee, and opened fire in a heavy barrage!
Leon raised his shield in a token defense while asking Arcee beside him, who wasn’t even bothering to take cover, “What gibberish are they spewing?”
“Dari, Pashto, Mongolian, Persian, Russian…
a bit of everything.
They say you and I are monsters.”
Having mastered these languages almost instantaneously for Leon’s sake, Arcee replied nonchalantly.
“Is that so…”
“Monsters and monsters make a pretty good pair, don’t they?”
Leon nudged Arcee’s long leg, then changed the subject.
“Still…
with so many languages, no wonder they’re just a bunch of low-rent terrorists.
Serving them lead is doing them a favor!”
Leon had no interest in learning these terrorists’ foreign tongues, but he retained his patience, not forgetting the main purpose of this strike.
He called out loudly to the Gulmira civilians around them—some held hostage, some hiding in the shadows, some fleeing—”Are any of you related to Ho Yinsen?”
Before coming, Leon had checked: in this world, Yinsen’s family was still alive.
Since Yinsen spoke English, Leon assumed by default that his family did too.
After a long pause, no one answered.
Rat-tat-tat-tat-tat!
The terrorists’ firepower continued to pour out.
But Leon completely ignored it, even blocking a few autocannon rounds for Arcee that her gold-titanium alloy body would have found hard to tank without damage.
During this process, Arcee’s rainbow-hued optics grew increasingly bright.
She gained a whole new understanding of how durable…
how hard her new partner was.
Perhaps…
Leon really was her destiny partner.
After a long while, following nearly two and a half minutes of full-auto firing, the terrorists’ ammunition reserves finally ran out.
“Oho~”
Leon lowered his shield, a smirk curling on his lips.
“Are you guys done shooting?”
“…”
No one answered; there was only the sound of Adam’s apples bobbing and saliva being swallowed.
In that round of concentrated fire just now, not only had they failed to injure the enemy in the slightest, but over a dozen of their comrades had been killed by bullets ricocheting off that shield.
Such a bizarre scene truly sent a chill down their spines.
“Arcee, their threat level has been dropped to the minimum now.
You know plenty of foreign languages, so go find Yinsen’s family.
Leave these guys to me.”
“Alright.”
“Good luck to you all.”
Her last sentence was addressed to the terrorists.
A ferocious tiger rushing into a flock of chickens whose claws had been worn flat…
the outcome was self-evident.
“Hey guys, do any of you speak English, Japanese, or Chinese?”
“I’m here on a community goodwill visit.
Don’t be nervous, don’t be afraid.
As long as you drop your weapons, I promise you’ll all get a taste of American hospitality.”
With that, as a gesture of sincerity, Leon walked up to a somewhat familiar-looking, bearded terrorist leader and waved his .50 AE caliber Desert Eagle in front of him.
Then he fired eight shots into the air in quick succession, continuing until he emptied the theoretical maximum magazine capacity, before saying, “See?
Now my gun’s out of bullets.”
However, as soon as they saw Leon empty his magazine, the bearded leader raised a hand, and the rest of the terrorists gathered their courage and closed in, wielding tactical knives of various designs.
It was as if they believed their tiny knives could pierce the defense of an enemy whom even autocannons couldn’t scratch.
To Leon, this scene was no different from Danzo stabbing Susanoo with a kunai—purely comical.
One of the terrorists, who had a small mustache on his upper lip, spoke in fluent Japanese, “You speak Japanese?”
“Hai!”
“Yoshi!
There is an old proverb in China: ‘He who understands the times is a wise man.’ I’m sure you’ve heard of it, so be a good boy and put down your shield…”
*Bang!*
Seeing someone finally speak a language he understood, Leon was so deeply touched that he gifted him an American-made lead jellybean.
The little Japanese terrorist’s head instantly exploded like a watermelon, and he collapsed right in front of his comrades.
To the surrounding terrorists, that gunshot was nothing short of the Grim Reaper knocking on the door.
They immediately scattered into chaos, not daring to gamble on whether Leon’s gun actually had bullets left.
Only…
“Hehehe!”
“Since you’re here, don’t even think about leaving!”
Leon had been waiting for this exact opportunity.
Within 2.5 meters, anyone can be a gun god.
*Bang bang bang bang bang bang bang!*
Empowered by the concept of infinite ammunition, Leon pulled the trigger of his Desert Eagle so fast it sounded like a machine gun.
The closing terrorists were shot full of holes by Leon’s erratic firing, each taking at least a dozen .50 AE lead jellybeans before kicking the bucket for good.
Only the bearded leader was left running frantically in the opposite direction, trying to get as far from Leon as possible.
At that moment, he was gloating to himself: *Stupid fools!
Luckily I was smart and realized early on that the sneaky-looking guy was ninety-nine percent bad news!
Who on earth takes a dozen autocannon rounds like nothing happened?!
He’s definitely not human—he’s a monster!*
Seeing this, Leon smirked as his playful streak kicked in.
Flipping his grip on the gun barrel, he tried using the Desert Eagle as a throwing weapon, hurling it at the fleeing bearded terrorist.
Boosted by superhuman strength, the Desert Eagle was thrown with the force of a mortar shell.
With a loud *BOOM*, it smashed clean through one of the man’s legs.
“AAAAHHH!”
The bearded man instantly collapsed to the ground, clutching his gushing stump and screaming in agony.
“Holy crap!”
“Am I really that accurate?”
Leon stared blankly at his right hand, which he had just used to throw the Desert Eagle.
The distance between him and that guy had been at least a hundred meters.
For a first-time throw, this level of precision was almost unbelievable.
Could it be that he was a natural prodigy at throwing things?
The more Leon thought about it, the more plausible it seemed.
And no sooner thought than done!
Picking up an empty AK off the ground, he crushed it into an iron sphere.
This time he switched to his left hand, deliberately aiming for the man’s head. Visit novelping.com for the full chapter.
*BANG!!!*
The iron ball made from the crushed AK launched like a cannonball, crossing the hundred-meter distance in under 0.1 seconds.
Under Leon’s eager gaze, the bearded man’s head didn’t burst; instead, half of his left ear vanished, bleeding profusely.
“Trajectory veers left, huh…” Leon muttered with a trace of disappointment.
However, he had confirmed his hypothesis.
As long as he went back and practiced more, reaching the level of Captain America throwing a Vibranium shield should be a piece of cake.
With that thought in mind, Arcee’s voice came through Leon’s Bluetooth earpiece: “Leon, I found them.”
“They were hiding in a concealed cellar, so those guys didn’t find them.
Do you need me to bring them over to meet up with you now?”
“No need.
Take them further away first.
Leave the rest to Tony and me.”
“Alright…
Be careful.”
“OK.
With those words from you, I promise not to lose a single hair.” Leon assured her before hanging up with Arcee.
Then he hurled his shield with a flick of his wrist, striking the target with pinpoint accuracy, slicing the bearded man in two at the waist.
He died with his eyes wide open—a homage to Gojo Satoru and Captain Carter.
“Woohoo~ Feels awesome!”
This feeling of hitting whatever he aimed at was no less exhilarating than the moment of launch for someone accustomed to trajectories veering left and splitting down the middle.
At the same time, Leon finally remembered why that guy looked so familiar: he was the spitting image of that bearded squad leader from the Ten Rings base who had kidnapped Tony earlier.
Leon guessed they were probably twin brothers or something.
Not that it mattered anymore.
After all, both were dead now.
“Job done, wrapping up.”
Taking two steps forward, Leon recalled both the Tungsten-Vibranium Shield and the Desert Eagle from a hundred meters away using his system space inventory as a medium, pulling them right back into his hands.
Just as he was about to head over to Tony’s side, a loud boom echoed in the sky, and Tony crashed down in extreme embarrassment, landing right beside Leon’s feet.
Unlike when they parted, the surface of the Mark 3 armor was now covered in dense bullet pockmarks, its gold-and-red paint heavily scratched.
Most conspicuous was the crater left by the anti-aircraft shell that had just knocked Tony out of the air.
“Yo, if it isn’t Iron Man.
Need a hand?” Leon mocked playfully at Tony lying in the pit.
“Forget it, I can handle it myself…” Tony tried, but failed to pull himself out of the pit, so he awkwardly stretched out a hand to Leon.
“Actually, give me a hand, Leon.”
“That’s more like it.”
Leon slapped his thigh, reached out to grab Tony, and with a single heave, pulled him cleanly out of the dirt.
Next, with the two brothers working together, the remaining terrorist remnants scattered throughout the town of Gulmira were dragged out one by one and eliminated.
Soon, the only ones left were the refugees whose homes had been ravaged beyond habitation.
Rescued, they gathered around Tony and Leon, kneeling down in devout prayer and gratitude.
Though Leon couldn’t quite understand their words, he knew it was all expressions of thanks.
“Big bro, how does it feel being a hero?” Leon asked.
“Not bad, I guess,” Tony replied.
“Aside from the initial excitement, right now I mostly feel sympathy and grief.”
“This is only the beginning.
There’s still a lot we have to do.”
“That may be, but leave the rest to Yinsen,” Leon chuckled.
“I’m sure once he reunites with his family, he’ll be full of drive.”
“True enough.”
As Tony’s voice fell, Leon caught a ride with him.
Under the reverent, god-fearing gazes of Gulmira’s citizens, the two brothers’ figures slowly rose into the sky.
Then, with a sudden burst of horizontal acceleration, they quickly vanished into the edge of the horizon.
