Thanks to the Hydra soldiers ceasing their attack, Russell gained enough time to recover.

Though Russell couldn’t see his own injuries, he could clearly feel his wounds closing rapidly.

Russell was well aware that the Dionysus Factor only triggered when the host sustained damage.Full novel: Marvel: The DC Apostle System — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Thus, he felt no surprise at this moment, nor did he make any unusual movements.

Once he confirmed that the wounds on his right arm and left leg were completely healed, Russell silently clenched his fists.

Then, under the watchful eyes of Jack and the others, Russell leapt up and charged toward Jack like lightning.

The instant Russell leapt into the air, Jack decisively pressed the red button on the remote, engulfing him in severe electrical shock once again.

This time, however, Russell did not collapse directly to the ground as before.

*Even if I die, I’m dragging you down to hell with me!*

Though the intense electrical discharge hampered Russell’s speed, it failed to stop his furious charge completely.

Seeing Russell, swathed in crackling electricity, still advancing step by step toward Jack, the Hydra soldiers squeezed their triggers despite receiving no order to fire.

Jack was their superior; protecting his safety was their duty.

Thus, they had no time to worry about whether Russell was a vital Abomination soldier; their sole priority was eliminating the threat he posed to Jack’s life.

The intense current in the collar came fast and vanished just as quickly.

Once Russell weathered the initial two or three seconds, this shock lost its power to affect him any further.

Moreover, whether due to a lack of power from shocking him twice in short succession, Russell noticed the second jolt was somewhat weaker than the first.

Though the shock from the collar ended, the Hydra soldiers’ barrage did not; armor-piercing sniper rounds and electrical blasts from stun cannons poured toward Russell relentlessly.

With Russell completely focused, these attacks created some nuisance, but not a single one hit him again.

Seeing Russell still doing everything possible to sprint toward him, Jack silently moved his thumb over the black button on the remote.

The red button meant electric shock.

The black button stood for detonation.

The instant the black button was pressed, Russell, currently leaping and bounding across the field, would turn into a corpse.

But right now, Jack hesitated to press that black button of death.

Although in headquarters’ eyes Russell was merely a failed semi-finished product, he was still Hydra’s exclusive asset.

If Jack destroyed him out of malice, his fate wouldn’t be much better than death.

After weighing his options, Jack ultimately slid his thumb off the black button and turned to Alan and Hathaway nearby.

“You two!

Get up there and take him down!”

If possible, Jack didn’t want to issue this command.

Giving this order meant admitting he had lost his leverage to control Russell directly.

Although the collar around Russell’s neck could deliver powerful shocks, its physical size limited it to only two such charges in short succession.

To use it again, it required recharging—one of the reasons these collars were never mass-produced.

As for detonating the collar to kill Russell, Jack still didn’t dare—at least not without explicit orders from Hydra headquarters.

Though Alan and Hathaway were reluctant, they exchanged a glance and silently stepped onto the training field.

As Alan and Hathaway entered, the Hydra soldiers received orders to hold fire.

Unhindered by armor-piercing rounds and shock blasts, Russell easily closed the distance to Jack.

However, Alan and Hathaway standing in his way made him realize there was one final barrier between him and Jack.

“I’m only saying this once: if you don’t want to die, move!”

Russell was still consumed by extreme rage; he didn’t care who stood before him.

“We can’t let you do this!”

Having already transformed into a mini green giant, Alan stood in Russell’s path and tapped the collar around his own neck with a finger.

Russell knew Alan and Hathaway were acting out of compulsion, but regardless, he had no intention of backing down.

While Alan and Hathaway blocked his way, Russell noticed Jack making a quick break for the training ground exit.

“It seems I was too gentle with you before, giving you the illusion that you could oppose me!”

Just as Alan frantically searched around for him, Hathaway’s voice called out: “Behind you!”

Though Hathaway wanted to stop Russell, the distance between her and Alan doomed any rescue attempt to failure.

Although Alan heard Hathaway’s warning, it was too late to react; he could only instinctively brace his muscles, hoping to tank Russell’s blow.

Had this been a simple training session, Russell might have pulled his punch.

But now, he held nothing back, unleashing his full, terrifying strength.

*BOOM!*

The 2.1-meter-tall green Alan took a devastating strike straight to the back of his head from Russell, sending him flying like a swatted fly before crashing heavily onto the ground.

Russell hadn’t held back in the slightest.

Alan wasn’t just knocked flying and rendered unconscious; green blood gushed from his nostrils.

Thanks to his enhanced body, Alan’s head didn’t explode from the strike, but the blow was enough to completely strip him of all combat capability.

“You want to block me too?!”

Having dispatched Alan, Russell turned his gaze to Hathaway.

Sensing the terrifying killing intent radiating from Russell, Hathaway involuntarily recoiled several steps.

“You’re not a warrior, and I don’t want to hit a woman.

So get out of my way!”

Russell issued his final ultimatum to Hathaway; if she refused to step aside, he wouldn’t hesitate any longer.

Jack was already approaching the exit.

If he didn’t stop him now, Russell might not get another opportunity like this.

Ultimately, Hathaway stepped aside, dropping her transformed state and returning to her human form.

Just as Jack reached the exit, he glanced back, catching the moment Hathaway reverted—only to see Russell descending upon him like an angry god.

“Director Jack, where do you think you’re going?”

Reaching Jack, Russell snapped Jack’s right arm with a brutal twist, then seized his neck and hoisted him into the air like a chicken.

With his broken arm, Jack couldn’t hold onto the remote controller.

The device that had once brought him immense security clattered onto the floor like a piece of meaningless trash.
