Blaine announced himself as the only god of three worlds. The worlds did not become peaceful enough to confirm him.

Hollows fed on souls in the living world. Hunters from the Eidolon Reach killed what crossed their patrols. Every death and forced passage shed spiritual energy, and Blaine's pocket realm drew the loss toward him through the three prisoners at its center.

Power accumulated around Blaine until his body changed with it. He had engineered the conditions, coerced the person whose weapon made the realm possible, and arranged himself as the beneficiary.Full novel: Marvel/DC: My Biological Sandbox System — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

None of that made the transformation false. It made the route to it an atrocity Michael had allowed to continue.

The system chimed.

New genetic pattern recorded: Spirit King form.

Primary expressions: pocket-space formation and manifested weapons. The pattern retains a human configuration and has significant developmental capacity.

Michael read the assessment twice. "That's all?"

Initial expression depends upon the host, available energy, and compatible structures.

The answer avoided promising what Blaine could do in a realm built to feed him. Michael transformed anyway.

Silver armor closed around his body. His hair lengthened, his eyes lost most of their color, and a straight sword formed in one hand. The system identified access to spiritual movement and a personal weapon structure.

Michael tried to rise. His boots left the ground for less than a second.

"He calls himself a god," Michael said, "and this form can barely float."

"Blaine has a domain, three captive sources, and a constant supply of stolen energy," Lilian said. "You copied the pattern. You did not copy the conditions."

"The description included movement through space."

"A capacity is not mastery."

Michael examined the sword. It carried an incomplete architecture similar to Lilian's adaptive material, but similarity did not grant him her experience.

Lilian studied it with him. "I may be compatible."

"The system says your pattern is recessive while I hold this form."

"Recessive does not mean absent. I can test the interface and withdraw if it attempts to absorb me."

"Your decision."

She dissolved from her human shape and entered the sword.

The weapon changed in Michael's hand. Lightning climbed its length, passed through his armor, and rose in a column above the sandbox. Power that had felt distant became immediate enough to hurt. Follow the newest chapters on novelping(.)com.

"Lilian?"

"Present."

"Can you separate?"

"Yes."

He called her name again to verify the answer was not an automatic response.

"If you repeat it without a reason," she said inside his thoughts, "I will separate and let you discover how well the form floats alone."

Michael smiled despite the strain. "Confirmed."

The form held because Lilian remained within it. Michael felt her force alongside his as they moved.

Odin saw the lightning from beyond the biological barrier.

He had followed the familiar divine signature expecting an answer to the resemblance he had noticed before. Instead, he found a small constructed world, three regions bleeding into a fourth, and a system of seals holding power in reserve.

The method caught his attention before the self-proclaimed god did.

Blaine stood among the dead and demanded submission from beings already trapped inside the consequences of his design. The power passing through him was vast by the standards of the pocket realm. It was still borrowed, concentrated, and dependent upon prisoners who could not refuse.

"I am the Spirit King," Blaine declared. "You stand before a god."

Odin measured him once, then released a single bolt.

The lightning crossed Michael's barrier, struck Blaine, and broke his body into spiritual energy. There was no contest and no second declaration. The pocket realm shuddered without its intended ruler, while the three sealed sources remained where Blaine had put them.

Michael felt Lilian tense through the sword.

"External intrusion," she said. "The stranger from the street. Same signature, much stronger now."

Through the Spirit King form, Michael saw the outline of a figure hidden above them. The concealment distorted ordinary sight, not the divine force now passing through his body.

He had watched Blaine exploit three worlds in hope of acquiring a gene. Odin had ended Blaine with less effort than Michael spent activating it.

The comparison corrected the title. Spirit King was a form with potential. It was not proof that Blaine had become untouchable, omniscient, or divine by anyone's standard but his own. Enjoying the story? Read on at novelping . com.

Michael raised the sword toward the hidden figure. "You can stop pretending I don't see you."

Odin descended with his arms open.

"My son," he said, smiling as though the conclusion had already survived debate. "You know your father after all."

Michael stared at him. "I know your name. That is not the same thing."

Odin lowered his arms a little. "The power surrounding you comes from the same source as mine."

"I derived a pattern from energy associated with Thor and combined it with an artificial life-form."

Lilian remained within the sword. "Resemblance of energy does not establish descent."

Odin's curiosity sharpened. He had already seen her power separately and now felt it braided through Michael's new form. He studied the joined signature before speaking again.

"Asgardian power is not reproduced by an ordinary experiment," he said. "You may reject the name, but you cannot disguise what you are."

"You are treating certainty as evidence."

"And you are treating refusal as proof."

Michael had acquired a divine pattern without understanding every part of its mechanism. Lilian's power came from artificial systems, Uru, adaptive material, and choices of her own. Neither history made Odin their father.

Odin offered an invitation instead of an argument.

"If you decide to come home, call for Heimdall. He will take you where you should have been raised."

Rainbow light gathered around him.

Before the light carried him away, Odin looked once more at the pocket realm and the power Blaine had stored outside his own body. Something in the seals held his attention. Michael could not tell why.

Then Odin vanished.

Lilian separated from the sword and resumed her human form.

"That claim remains wrong," she said.

"Confidently."

Below them, Blaine was dead. Lance, Voyager, and the Hollow king were still sealed. The experiment had given Michael the pattern he wanted, but acquiring it had freed none of the people used to create it.

The Spirit King form faded from Michael's body. Its cost did not.
