“Two and a half years of busting my ass, and I end up awakening a D-Class Enhancement Magic—the ‘Cosmic Rooster’ or whatever.

I’m doomed to be a meathead brawler,” a student muttered from the crowd.

“What good is being ‘high-class’ if your rank is trash?” his friend shot back.

“Chloe and Claire both awakened Elemental Magic, but they only got F-Class!

Not a single instructor is willing to take them on.

You know how it is—it drags down their advancement rates, and around here, promotion is everything.”

“You never know.

Their aunt is Director Diana, an A-Class Mental Mage.

Someone might take the twins just to suck up to her.”

…

Fiore Alliance.

Magnolia City, First Magic Academy.

Spring semester, Year Two—the annual Magic Awakening Ceremony.

‘Must have slaughtered pigs in my past life to end up a teacher in this one!’

Standing at the back of the instructors’ lineup just beneath the awakening stage, Asher let out a long, heavy sigh.

After spending the last few hours pinching himself, he had finally accepted the brutal truth: he had actually been reborn into another world.

He always thought the old saying about teaching being a curse was just a joke, but here he was living it.

In his past life, he had dropped out of high school to take over his old man’s butcher shop, and honestly?

Life was fantastic.

He drank imported spring water, never bothered scraping the foil off his yogurt lids, and paid full price for his artisan coffee without blinking.

He didn’t even use delivery coupons!

So how did he end up here?

A sketchy red-light district, a post-fun cigarette, a flashing traffic light, and an out-of-control truck.

A tale as old as time.

But none of that mattered anymore.

That was the story of a wealthy butcher.

What mattered was *now*.

Asher was currently the worst-ranked instructor at the First Magic Academy.

If he didn’t manage to recruit at least three apprentices today, he wouldn’t even make it to the Practical Combat Exams in six months.

They would fire him on the spot and throw him into the reserve labor pool to “reflect.”

This was Earthland—a world overrun by magical beasts, where everyone awakened to magical power.

Without the protection and salary of a licensed instructor, surviving out there would be a nightmare.

Especially since, according to his inherited memories, his cheapskate father had practically bribed the school to get him this job in the first place.

“Next up, Instructor Asher.

Please step up to the stage and select your students.”

A crisp, icy voice snapped Asher out of his panic.

He glanced over and was instantly struck by a breathtaking face.

She had perfect, delicate features, striking red lips, and a sharp, elegant jawline.

But beyond her model-like figure, her most captivating feature was her eyes—shimmering and deep, like a starry night sky.

It was the Academy’s Director of Discipline, Diana.

As Asher stared, Diana happened to meet his gaze.

The moment their eyes locked, a violent ringing erupted in Asher’s ears.

It felt like a physical blow to his skull, leaving him dizzy and disoriented.

‘So this is a Mental Mage…’ he thought, wiping a sudden bead of cold sweat from his forehead.

The dizziness only lasted a fraction of a second, but the power gap was terrifyingly clear.

Even though Asher was a mage too, he had only just broken into Tier Three, Level One.

Diana was already at Tier Three, Level Nine.

More importantly, she was an elite A-Class Mental Mage, while he was just a C-Class Enhancement Mage.

In this world, that meant he was nothing more than a crude, unrefined brawler.

Whether it was magical power, elemental hierarchy, or social standing, he wasn’t even in the same league as her.

“Instructor Asher, please step onto the stage immediately,” Diana repeated.

Her tone dropped a few degrees, and her elegant brows pulled together in a slight frown when she noticed him staring.

Normally, she wouldn’t let a lingering gaze bother her—she was used to it.

But today was different.

Her two nieces, who had always excelled in their written studies, had just awakened abysmal F-Class Elemental Magic.

Barring a miracle, the chances of any instructor picking them were virtually zero.

If no one took them on, the twins would be forced to take the standard Written Exams next year.

Sure, with good grades, they could still become Magical Botanists or Apothecaries—respectable support roles.

But compared to front-line combat mages, their social standing would plummet.

“Right away,” Asher replied.

Gritting his teeth, he pushed himself forward and marched up the steps to the awakening stage.

He had already made up his mind.

He needed to keep this job at all costs.

He would just pick three kids—any three kids—and make the best of a bad situation.

Even if he was the very last instructor to choose, and all the elites were taken, surely there had to be a few D-Class students left, right?

He reached the top of the stage, took one look at the remaining students, and sucked in a sharp breath.

‘Are you kidding me?!’

The massive stage was packed with nervous teenagers, but there wasn’t a single D-Class magic signature among them.

He swept his gaze across the crowd, seeing nothing but the green and white wristbands that signified E-Class and F-Class awakenings.

Not one D-Class.

Not a single one!

If he didn’t pick three apprentices, he’d be fired today.

But if he picked E-Class students, there was no way they’d pass the rigorous Practical Combat Exams, which meant he would miss his promotion quota… and get fired in six months anyway.

It was the difference between a quick execution and a slow, agonizing death.

Asher stood there in dead silence.

Down in the instructor pool, the whispers started up immediately.

“What’s taking him so long?

Don’t tell me he’s being picky.”

“Is he actually looking for a D-Class student?

Seriously?”

“I don’t know if he’s playing dumb or if he actually is dumb.

Why would we leave any D-Class students for him?

He should be grateful there are E-Classes left.”

“Ha!

The worst teacher picking the worst students.

It’s a match made in heaven.”

“Honestly, it doesn’t matter who he picks.

It’s just a question of whether he gets fired today or a few months from now.”

The mockery was loud, echoing across the silent hall, but the school administrators standing nearby didn’t say a word to stop it.

It was a glaring reminder of just how little respect Asher commanded at the Academy.

Only Diana’s expression darkened.

She clearly despised the lack of professionalism from her staff.

Up on the stage, Asher couldn’t care less about the taunts.

He was too busy panicking.

He *had* to pick three students.

There was no other option.

‘Ding,’ Asher mouthed silently in his head, praying to whatever gods watched over transmigrators.

Nothing happened.

‘Great.

Guess I’ll just pick three random kids and wait for death.’

He let out a defeated sigh, fully prepared to resign himself to his fate.

But right at that exact second, a crisp, mechanical voice echoed perfectly in his mind.

**”Ding!

Otherworldly demonic aura detected.

The [Master Teacher System] has awakened!”**

**”Host information analyzed.

Loading System…”**

**”Congratulations!

You have successfully bound the [Master Teacher System]!”**

Asher’s head snapped up, his eyes suddenly burning with a wild, fanatical light.

‘System!

Max me out!

Thank you!’
