Chapter 6 Solenne The Radiant

Max Level Reincarnation: Retrieve My Primordials

In the eastern reaches of the continent, where the morning sun first blankets the world in a warm, amber glow, lies the grand heart of religious power: Valethia, the Grand Holy City.

Situated within the borders of the Valerian Empire, Valethia is a breathtaking architectural marvel. At its center stands the massive Sanctuarium a sprawling fortress-cathedral constructed entirely from pristine, unblemished white marble. Soaring high into the clouds, its colossal, solid gold domes reflect the sunlight so brightly they look like miniature suns resting upon the earth. Surrounding this holy fortress are rows of neat brick and concrete estates, divided by wide avenues paved with smooth, glistening white marble.

The city is protected by concentric, towering white stone walls and a deep, rushing azure river that acts as a natural moat. The only entry is through the massive main gate, accessible via a heavily reinforced drawbridge. This holy region is guarded with absolute rigidity. On the ground, legions of Holy Guardians clad in full, polished white plate armor patrol every corridor. High above in the endless sky, elite beast-tamers mount majestic, soaring Griffins, maintaining an impenetrable, highly secured aerial defense.

Deep within the serene halls of the Sanctuarium, the gentle humming of prayers from priests and priestesses echoes through the vaulted corridors. Leading this holy order is the beloved spiritual pillar of the Empire: Saint Solenne the Radiant.

Inside a brightly lit, arched classroom, Solenne was currently teaching a group of young acolytes and orphans. Her presence was calming, her smile radiating genuine warmth as she looked down at the children.

"Therefore, remember this, children," Solenne spoke, her voice smooth and melodic. "Divine power is solely pure. It cannot be bought or forced; it can only be channeled through a pure heart and unwavering faith in our Goddess Vale. She is the one who blessed this continent, delivering us from the dark ages and bringing us into this glorious golden era."

The children looked up at her, their eyes wide with absolute admiration and pure excitement. "Woahh... Yes, Sister Solenne!" one of them cheered. Solenne’s smile widened, her heart filling with joy at the sight of the next generation. They possessed so much untapped potential. But Solenne didn't just see their outer enthusiasm; she was born with a rare, miraculous gift that allowed her to look past the mortal veil.

Blinking softly, she activated her unique perception skill.

[Divine Eyes]

In her vision, the children's hidden talents, elemental affinities, and latent soul statuses materialized as faint, colored aura readouts. It was a powerful tool, one that allowed her to nurture the best talents for the realm.

Suddenly, the heavy wooden doors of the classroom creaked open. A Royal Guard stepped inside, stopping near the entrance. Catching Solenne's attention, he gave a quiet, respectful nod and whispered, "He has arrived, Your Highness."

Solenne understood immediately. Turning back to the class, she clapped her hands softly. "Alright, little ones. The lesson will be continued by Sister Celes for today."

Instantly, a chorus of disappointed groans filled the room. "Aaww... but we want to stay with you longer, Sister Solenne!"

Solenne let out a soft, melodic laugh, waving her hand reassuringly. "Haha, maybe later we can spend more time together. For now, listen to Sister Celes closely. If you all get high grades, you will grow up to become the proud pillars of this great Empire."

The children’s competitive spirits ignited instantly. "Sister Solenne, I won't let you down! I'll study hard!" "Yeah! When I get high grades, I want to stand right by your side, Sister!"

With a final, warm wave, Solenne exited the classroom, her expression shifting into a calm, serious mask as the heavy doors closed behind her. Walking alongside the Royal Guard, she asked quietly, "Where is he?"

"He is waiting in the Grand Hall, Your Highness," the guard replied respectfully. Solenne merely nodded, adjusting her sacred silken robes as they walked toward the heart of the Sanctuarium.

They entered the Grand Hall a vast, breathtaking chamber beneath a wide, cavernous dome supported by towering columns.

Standing near the center of the hall was a young man with flawlessly styled blonde hair and piercing blue eyes. He wore a luxurious uniform tailored from vibrant red silk and white-gold fabric, heavily adorned with opulent golden ornaments that jingled slightly with every movement. Standing rigidly beside him was a stark contrast: a warrior with sharp, silver hair and firm, disciplined green eyes. He was clad in heavy, pristine white battle armor, and strapped securely to his back was a legendary weapon the massive, azure-tinted Moonlight Sword, which faintly hummed with a celestial glow.

Seeing her approach, the blonde man flashed a bright, charming smile. "Ah, you've finally arrived."

Solenne bowed her head with flawless grace, offering a humble, polite smile. "Yes, I just left the classroom, Prince Damien von Valeria."

Prince Damien smirked, stepping forward casually. "Please, just call me Damien, Your Highness. I've told you so many times using formal names only makes the distance between us feel even further."

Deep inside her chest, Solenne felt a wave of profound disgust. She knew exactly what kind of man Damien was; his notorious, filthy soul regarding women, which he hid well behind his genius and talent. But in front of me, he didn’t hide that, he was a silver-tongued flirt, a predator wrapped in royal silk. Yet, as the Saint, she maintained her perfect, submissive mask, offering a self-deprecating chuckle. "Ah... I could never dare to do something so inappropriate, my prince."

Damien scratched the back of his neck, chuckling arrogantly. "Why not? Your position in this realm is already practically equal to mine. And of course, you've been using those miraculous eyes of yours to scout the best talents, laying down the perfect foundation to make our Empire great again, haven't you?"

Solenne didn't want to engage in his tedious small talk any longer. Wanting to cut straight to the point, she redirected the conversation politely. "You flatter me, my liege. But tell me, what brings you to the Sanctuarium today?"

Damien’s playful expression shifted into something colder, more ambitious. He gestured toward the stoic, silent warrior standing beside him the acclaimed Hero of Valeria. "Our top asset, Kael, needs your holy blessing before his deployment. The borders are shifting, and I hope we can get this done swiftly to ensure the Empire remains unmatched."

Solenne turned her gaze to Kael. As she looked at the silver-haired swordsman, a pang of genuine pity filled her heart.

Through her Divine Eyes, she could see the heavy, suffocating weight pressing down on his soul. In this current era of forced peace, a 'Hero' was no longer a savior of mankind he was merely a glorified tool of deterrence, a devastating weapon of war utilized by the royal family to threaten neighboring kingdoms. Kael had been forced into this brutal destiny against his will, stripped of his humanity to become a political asset. 'I truly pity you, Kael,' she thought to herself.

"Of course, my liege," Solenne spoke aloud, her voice soft and compassionate.

Step by step, Kael walked forward and dropped to one knee before the Saint, bowing his head respectfully. "I shall be in your care, Saint Solenne."

Solenne raised both of her hands, hovering them gently over Kael’s bowed head. Closing her eyes, she began to whisper a sacred, ancient incantation, calling upon the divine ether of the heavens.

[Saint's Blessing]

Instantly, a soft, radiant golden light began to emanate from her palms. The divine particles swirled gracefully through the air, multiplying rapidly until a brilliant, warm cocoon of holy light completely enveloped Kael’s armored body. The heavy, dark fatigue straining Kael's muscles began to dissolve as the light slowly, perfectly absorbed inward, embedding itself deep within his flesh and soul core, reinforcing his power.

After that, Kael stood up straight once more and offered a polite, shallow bow. "Thank you, Saint Solenne."

Damien stepped forward, casting a lingering, possessive glance at the Saint. "This is for the greater good, Solenne. Just remember that," he whispered, a smug smile playing on his lips. "And perhaps, marrying me is also for the greater good. After all, Goddess Vale permits her faithful followers to wed. She is full of understanding when it comes to what humans truly need."

Solenne’s hands tightened, her knuckles turning white as she forced herself to maintain a serene expression. "Then that is a matter for your own future, my Liege. If you will excuse me, I must return to my duties."

Without waiting for his response, Solenne turned sharply on her heel and swept out of the Sanctuarium. The moment her back was turned, her calm visage crumbled into utter disgust.

'Ugh. What an ugly, brown, rotten soul. I hope he dies a miserable death,' she thought bitterly, her footsteps echoing down the grand marble hallway.

Watching her retreat, Damien smirked and yelled from afar, completely unabashed. "You cannot run away from me forever, Solenne!"

He chuckled proudly, thoroughly amused by his own arrogance. Then, his expression instantly shifted into something cold and demanding as he looked down at Kael. "Forget everything you just heard and saw. Pretend I never uttered a single word of that."

Kael’s eyes remained hollow, his voice completely devoid of life. "Understood, sir."

Satisfied with the absolute obedience, Damien adjusted his posture, smoothing out the wrinkles of his heavy royal robes. In an instant, the petty man disappeared, replaced once more by the picture-perfect image of a dignified, flawless royal prince.

"Well then," Damien declared, gesturing toward the grand exit. "Let us return to my father."

Leaving the holy atmosphere of the city behind, they boarded a heavily guarded royal carriage, setting their course back to the heart of the empire, the bustling capital of Valeria.

The journey from the Holy City to the Valerian Capital took three days by carriage. Throughout the entire ride, the contrast between the two men inside the velvet-lined cabin couldn't be starker.

Damien spent most of the time swirling a glass of expensive elven wine, muttering about his future political maneuvers and how he would eventually bend Saint Solenne to his will. He viewed the world as a chessboard, and himself as the undisputed king.

Kael, on the other hand, sat perfectly still in the corner. He didn't eat unless commanded. He didn't sleep unless permitted. To any passing observer, he looked like a beautiful, terrifying living weapon-a loyal hound waiting for its master to drop the leash.

But beneath that lifeless exterior, deep within the locked corners of Kael's suppressed mind, something was slowly shifting. The pure, radiant mana of the Holy City had left a lingering warmth in his chest, a stark contrast to the cold, suffocating commands Damien constantly forced into his head.

"We are approaching the gates, Your Highness!" the carriage driver called out, breaking the silence.

Damien peered through the curtain, a cruel, ambitious smirk widening on his face. Towering white walls, golden banners bearing the crest of the Valerian dragon, and thousands of cheering commoners lined the streets to welcome their crown prince.

"Look at them, Kael," Damien whispered, his eyes gleaming with greed. "Soon, all of this will be mine. And you... you will be the shadow that clears the path to my throne."

Kael’s golden eyes flickered slightly in the dim light of the carriage, reflecting the massive dome castle ahead.

"As you wish, Master," Kael murmured softly, though somewhere deep inside his soul, a faint, unrecognized spark of resistance finally began to burn.
