Two days later, Ye Fanxing’s cold was finally completely gone.
When she woke up, Fu Jingyu wasn’t at home.
After coming back to Jiangzhou City, he had become busy.
Ye Fanxing was not the type to confine herself at home all day, and even though her tuition had been taken care of, she knew the money would have to be repaid, sooner or later.
She saw part-time job information in a QQ group and headed straight there.
She took a job as an order-taker at the restaurant on the second floor of a hotel.
The job was hectic during meal times, but otherwise, when there weren’t any customers, it was pretty relaxed.
“Ye Fanxing!” Zhao Jiaqi, who had invited a couple of classmates to hang out here, saw Ye Fanxing working as an order-taker when they came down for a meal.
The two girls accompanying Zhao Jiaqi were classmates from their school.
Although they weren’t in the same class, they all were from the same school and recognized each other.
“Ye Fanxing, how come you’re working here?” One of them, Ding Feifei, who was known for her straight hair, had some degree of internet fame.
Ye Fanxing didn’t initially know that there was such an online celebrity at their school, but Zhao Jiaqi frequently gossiped about her in front of her, claiming things like she had undergone plastic surgery, so Ye Fanxing slowly started to remember her.
As Zhao Jiaqi always spoke spitefully about Ding Feifei, Ye Fanxing had assumed their relationship was strained.
But to her surprise, they seemed to be friends.
Otherwise, how could they possibly appear together here?
Ye Fanxing didn’t want to interact with Zhao Jiaqi at all, but this was work, and she was not going to undermine her job over it.
She passed the iPad in her hands to them without answering their questions, and professionally asked, “What would you like to order?”
“Aren’t you studying in Nanchuan?
How come you’re working here?” Although they had had an unpleasant encounter before, Zhao Jiaqi now acted as if nothing had happened, as if they were still good friends, and continued to probe about Ye Fanxing’s affairs.
Ye Fanxing gazed at Zhao Jiaqi.
As the victim, she wasn’t as forgiving.
She would always remember, the words Zhao Jiaqi said in front of the Zhao Family’s house, not forgetting even a single punctuation mark.
“If you are not ordering, I’ll come back later.”
“Wait!” Zhao Jiaqi stopped her and said, “We are going to order, of course!
We came for a meal.
Recommend some of the best dishes!”
Ye Fanxing flipped through the menu and showed it to her, “These are our hotel’s specialties.”
“Ye Fanxing, we heard you were dumped by Gu Yuze?” Ding Feifei looked at Ye Fanxing curiously, with a clear intention of gossiping.
Ye Fanxing froze for a moment.
She gave Zhao Jiaqi, the origin of her troubles, a look but didn’t reply.
“Why aren’t you answering when asked?
Why are you working here?
You were close to Jiaqi, I thought you were wealthy!” Ding Feifei complained when she didn’t get a response.
Ye Fanxing replied, “My family isn’t wealthy, that’s why I’m working here.
Also, I’m currently working and don’t want to discuss personal matters!”
“We’re all classmates, why don’t you join us for a meal?” Ding Feifei was very interested in gossiping.
Ye Fanxing used to do well academically, and she was also decent-looking.
Plus, she was Gu Yuze’s desk-mate.
Hence, everyone was quite envious of her.
Seeing Ye Fanxing working here now gave them a sense of delight.
She was not as great as she had seemed!
Her family was even, apparently, struggling to the point where she had to work.
“No need,” Ye Fanxing declined.
Zhao Jiaqi continuously flipped the menu very slowly on purpose, just to give Ding Feifei an opportunity to grill Ye Fanxing.
