The terrace had been transformed into a glass room, with lush greenery arranged haphazardly, and moonlight pouring in, casting a gentle glow on the few white flowers in bloom.

In this environment, Su Yao couldn’t help but slow down her breathing, then chuckled, “I’ll say something that might ruin the mood a bit, but will we get bitten by bugs if we drink here for New Year’s Eve?”

There were three or four dim white lights hanging in the glass room, providing just enough illumination. Liang Chuyuan looked at Su Yao and said, “I haven’t tried it yet. If we get bitten by bugs while drinking here, there are a few bottles of medicinal wine inside, so we’ll be prepared.”Full novel: Mind Reader — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Su Yao raised her eyebrows in agreement. She poured some wine into her glass, took a small sip, and her face flushed. “Then let’s make a bet. If we don’t get bitten by bugs, we’ll celebrate. If we do get bitten, we’ll commiserate with each other, okay?”

Liang Chuyuan looked at her complexion and asked, “How’s your alcohol tolerance? This wine has quite a kick.”

“It’s alright, I guess? I don’t drink much, and the few times I did, I didn’t get drunk.”

Su Yao forgot to mention that those few times, she hardly drank anything.

“That’s good.” Liang Chuyuan glanced at his watch. There were still about fifteen minutes left until the end of the year.

Tonight, after the two of them finished eating the winter crabs, they played video games and board games, passing the time quickly.

Liang Chuyuan was someone who knew how to enjoy himself. He knew how to keep himself entertained at home.

For Su Yao, it was her first time here, and everything felt incredibly fresh. After the entertainment room, she was still curious and went to see Liang Chuyuan’s art studio. It was only one-fifth the size of the previous art studio she had visited, not crowded but spacious. However, because there were many things inside, it looked quite full.

What caught Su Yao’s interest was the painting she saw as soon as she walked in.

The frame was elegant, and the protagonist in the frame was her.

“It’s you.” Liang Chuyuan took the painting down from the cabinet and handed it to her. “After I took you to the art studio that day, I went to Shanghu because I saw some things that puzzled me. My mind was in a mess, so I started painting when I got back, and before I knew it, ‘you’ had taken shape.”

Su Yao looked at herself in the painting, almost mesmerized by those eyes. She chuckled, “This doesn’t match the real me. I’m not that pretty.”

“Really? But that’s how I see you in my mind.”

“I guess I’ll have to pose for you in person for you to paint accurately. If you imagine me too much, my head will start spinning.”

Liang Chuyuan chuckled softly, “Consider this painting a gift from me, a token of… inviting you to be my muse.”

“Really for me?” Su Yao felt pleasantly surprised as she saw Liang Chuyuan nod firmly. “Thank you, I really like it.”

It was the most unexpected gift she had received this year.

And this most unexpected gift now quietly sat in the corner of the living room, facing the spot where the man and woman were chatting in the glass room.

Su Yao pointed to the east. “In a little while, we’ll be able to see the fireworks over the river from here.”

Sitting here offered an excellent view of the scenery.

Su Yao remembered two years ago when Guan Ting dragged her out of the house after eleven o’clock, and they squeezed into the crowd, looking up at the fireworks over Wenjiang. The next day, her neck was sore, and her face was cracked from the cold. You are reading on novelping.com, the official source.

She thought, given her laziness, she wouldn’t see this grand fireworks display again.

But then she met Liang Chuyuan.

So she ended up sitting here.

Liang Chuyuan said he was very happy to have met her, and she felt the same way.

Liang Chuyuan was someone worth getting to know.

Reflecting on the ups and downs of the past year, various emotions flooded Su Yao’s heart, and she drank quite a bit of wine.

The most frequently uttered phrase was, “I want to resign.”

Liang Chuyuan said she was drunk and told her not to drink anymore.

She refused, or more accurately, she didn’t see his gesture and kept drinking. As she drank, she only felt the refreshing sensation going down her throat, enjoying it more and more. But when she stopped, she tasted a hint of dizziness.

With sparks flying in her stomach and on her skin, Su Yao absentmindedly propped her cheek on her hand and stared at the quietness outside the glass room, murmuring, “3, 2, 1, bang!”

Before the fireworks burst into various colors, Liang Chuyuan quickly reached out—

And he just happened to catch Su Yao’s flushed cheek.
