Hello everyone, this intermission leads into the third volume of Misadventures Incorporated. There may be some differences based on which version of the story that you’ve read thus far. Please skip ahead to the appropriate subheadings below for any relevant information.
Second book tl;dr
Claire and Sylvia bond, becoming close friends over the course of the second book, despite a rather blatant betrayal. Following the rekindling of their bond, they're faced with a rather blatant problem. Both want to escape Llystletein, but Alfred has no intention of allowing anyone to leave, at least until he discovers that Flux's paladins are scheming his murder. He presents Claire a choice: she is to either betray the city and eliminate the paladins as the price for her escape or fall alongside them.
Meanwhile, Zelos, Sylvia's father, comes up with a scheme of his own. And in the end, after Claire decides that siding with Alfred is wiser, they briefly clash before Sylvia breaks them up.

If you are coming from Amazon
The amazon version is a fully rewritten version that had several different plot events. What follows on RoyalRoad is the original, and you will find the following discrepancies:
The RoyalRoad version’s writing style is inferior and does not develop into the Amazon style until later on. This primarily manifests in phrasing and italicized thoughts in the RoyalRoad version.
The Amazon version features a character named Lykopis, who is a reincarnator archetype. This character is not present in the RoyalRoad version, and you instead have Geoff.
Conjuring exists as Wisdom in the RoyalRoad version.
Some monsters are renamed.
Future Version Differences
The rewrites and the new version converge starting with the third book! Most of the edits were to the first story arc.
