"You..."
"When did you learn that?"
Ben smiled.
"I just figured it out."
Morbius narrowed his eyes.
"I don’t believe you."
Ben simply shrugged.
"I can’t help that."
Morbius remained silent for a moment before shaking his head.
"You humans are strange."
"No."
He corrected himself.
"You are strange."
Ben laughed as the white celestial coating continued flowing steadily around his body without the slightest sign of instability.
Morbius looked at him and shook his head.
"Don’t be smug."
"You learned it quickly, but now you need to learn how to use your innate ability against living opponents."
"Knowing a technique and using it properly are two different things."
"Even with Celestial Coating, you can still be in danger."
"If you don’t know how to fight, those goblins can still kill you."
Ben nodded.
"Hmm... you’re right."
Although he agreed with Morbius, he was secretly amused.
In the past year, I’ve signed in countless spells, skills, and arts from the system.
Now is finally the time I can actually use them.
He quietly opened his system interface, which Morbius could not see.
Ben scrolled through his inventory.
Most of the skills that had originally used mana had already been converted by the system to match his innate ability and this world’s celestial energy.
After looking through the list, he selected three beginner spells.
Immediately, three descriptions appeared.
[White Missile]
Type: Active Spell
Description:
Condenses White Ruination energy into a small projectile and launches it at high speed.
The projectile deals direct damage and begins eroding the target upon impact.
Low celestial energy consumption.
Suitable for beginners.
****
[White Ruination Sword]
Type: Active Spell
Description:
Condenses White Ruination energy around a weapon, greatly increasing its cutting power.
Every strike carries the power of White Ruination, allowing the blade to erode whatever it cuts.
Low celestial energy consumption.
*****
[Decay Fireball]
Type: Active Spell
Description:
Creates a sphere of White Ruination flames and launches it toward the target.
Upon impact, the flames spread White Ruination, causing continuous erosion to everything within the affected area.
Low celestial energy consumption.
****
Ben smiled as he finished reading the descriptions.
"These should be enough for now."
He closed the system window and looked toward the distant forest where the goblins lived.
Morbius noticed the smile on his face.
"What are you thinking?"
Ben simply replied,
"I’m thinking it’s time to learn how to fight properly."
He then looked at Morbius.
"Tell me how to use my innate ability in battle."
Morbius lifted one of his front paws.
"It’s simple."
"First, focus your mind."
"Then imagine the shape you want to create."
"Use celestial energy as the foundation."
"Finally, mix your innate ability into that energy."
"The form you imagine will take shape."
As he spoke, the black flames around Morbius began changing.
They transformed into a sword.
Then a spear.
A shield.
An arrow.
Finally, they returned to ordinary flames.
Ben nodded.
"I understand."
He closed his eyes and pretended to concentrate.
Then he activated one of the spells he had just learned.
"Decay Fireball."
A small sphere of white flames slowly formed above his palm.
The fireball was only the size of a fist, but it gave off an unusual feeling.
The white flames were completely silent.
There was no heat.
Instead, they gave off a faint cold aura.
Ben looked toward a large dead tree standing in the distance.
He lightly threw the fireball.
The white sphere flew straight toward the tree.
The moment it touched the trunk, the fireball burst apart into white flames.
Instead of exploding, the flames quietly spread across the wood.
Within seconds, the dead tree began turning white.
Its bark crumbled into fine white ash.
The trunk rapidly eroded.
The branches disappeared one after another.
Less than ten seconds later, the entire tree had been reduced to a pile of white ashes.
Ben looked at the result.
"So this is the power of White Ruination."
Meanwhile, Morbius stood there with his jaw hanging open.
’What the hell is this human?!’
He couldn’t believe what he had just witnessed.
Turning an innate ability into a proper attack normally required weeks of practice and medium mastery control over celestial energy.
Yet this human had done it perfectly on his very first attempt.
’Just what in the world have I gotten myself attached to?’ he wondered as he stared at his human master.
Ben, on the other hand, simply nodded to himself.
Although Morbius is a bitch, he is helping me me genuinely atleast.
Whenever he activated a skill, the system also gave him the knowledge of how to use it.
That was why everything matched the explanation Morbius had just given him.
Without the system, learning these techniques would have taken him a very long time.
Morbius took a deep breath and finally regained his composure.
"It seems I underestimated you."
Ben smiled.
"I’ll take that as a compliment."
Morbius shook his head.
"Don’t get overconfident."
"You only know one spell."
"Real battles are unpredictable."
Ben nodded.
"I know."
"I still have a lot to learn."
Morbius floated toward the pile of white ashes and examined them carefully.
He poked them with his paw.
The ashes scattered in the wind.
"There isn’t even any residue of decay left."
He looked back at Ben.
"Your control is surprisingly good."
"It means your innate ability doesn’t continue consuming energy after the target has completely eroded."
"That saves a lot of celestial energy."
Ben listened carefully.
"So efficiency is important too."
"Very important," Morbius replied.
"If two people have the same amount of celestial energy, the one who wastes less will always last longer in battle."
Ben nodded.
"I understand."
He then looked toward the forest in the distance.
"So, can we fight the goblins now?"
Morbius looked at him for a few seconds before answering.
"You’ve met the minimum requirement."
"You can use Celestial Coating."
"You can control your innate ability."
"And you have a weapon."
"I’ll allow it."
Ben smiled.
"Finally."
Morbius raised a paw.
"But only the goblins near the edge of the forest."
"If I think you’re in danger, I’ll stop the fight immediately."
