Seeing this, Shiroyasha raised an eyebrow and spoke with disdain:

“Al-chan, don’t tell me you’ve been in that seal so long you don’t want to come out?

No worries — I’ll come in and get you!”Full novel: Mondaiji: Am I A Dragon Species? — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

By the end, Shiroyasha was already getting impatient.

As a degenerate, she thirsted after all beautiful girls equally.

And a beauty like Algol was naturally on her hunting list.

It was just that in the old days, Algol hadn’t been someone you could mess with.

She was much easier to bully now.

From the other side of the door, a slightly childish voice rang out:

“Such a rude tone.”

A girl with deep violet hair — innocent yet bewitching, brimming with demonic charm — lightly leapt out from the portal.

Seeing her, Shiroyasha’s eyes lit up.

Without a word, she lunged at Algol.

“Al-chan!

Long time no see!

Let me check if your skin’s still as good as ever!!”

“Ugh~ Why does Al-chan have to see this ugly mug the moment she comes out?

What a pain.

Why did you of all people summon me, Shiro?”

Algol expressionlessly petrified Shiroyasha, sat down, picked up a teacup, took a sip — then immediately spat it out.

“What is this tea?

Has the great White Night King fallen this far?”

“Be glad there’s tea at all.

What do you expect, living in the lower layers?”

Shiroyasha shook off the petrification and rolled her eyes.

“All that aside, I should actually thank you.

I’m glad it was you who summoned me at this particular moment.”

Algol said through gritted teeth.

“That damn ugly hag Athena — she actually let that worthless, good-for-nothing, ugly bastard hold me.

He summoned me in that hideous state!!”

Anyone holding the Authority of Medusa could call upon Algol’s petrification Authority and summon Algol herself to assist in battle.

But the power of the petrification — and the state of the summoned Algol — depended on the quality of the wielder.

Obviously, Laius’s quality was abysmal.

He could only summon a mindless, monstrous version of Algol — one that had fully degenerated into a horror.

And that infuriated Algol.

She had always been extremely particular about her appearance.

The previous holders of Perseus’s Gift had treated her well — feeding her delicacies, sending in the latest cosmetics from time to time.

But this time, Athena had gone too far.

If Shiroyasha hadn’t suddenly summoned her, she’d have had no idea she’d been an ugly monster for so long!!

“Tch.

Sounds like you’ve been having a rough time too, Al-chan.”

Shiroyasha clicked her tongue sympathetically.

Think about it — Little Garden’s Three Great Problem Children of old.

The White Night King, the Demon Star Algol, and Queen Halloween.

What a fearsome trio they’d been.

Now?

One had her head cut off by a human hero, got sealed, got used by humans, and even got turned into an ugly monster.

Another had lost too many times, joined Thousand Eyes, grabbed a Yaksha godhead, and come down to the lower layers to coast.

And Queen Halloween?

She was the only one still up in the upper echelons, as magnificent as ever.

Algol snorted coldly, not wanting to talk about it.

She really wasn’t living as carefree as Shiroyasha.

Though, honestly, neither of them was doing great.

The pot calling the kettle black.

No point arguing now.

“Anyway — Shiro, how did you end up summoning me?

Did that ugly hag Athena finally decide to break my seal?”

Algol pulled out a small mirror and examined her hair.

“That, you’ll have to ask the brat.”

Shiroyasha pointed at Ryo.

Algol put away her mirror and looked at him, raising an eyebrow.

“A young Pureblood Dragon?

Whose kid wandered out?”

Ryo’s face darkened.

“I’m an adult.

I am not a child!!”

Sure, being granted the Spirit Rank of a Pureblood Dragon by the Central Core was great in every way except one — you had to grow up all over again from infancy.

In other words, his age had reset from the moment the Central Core observed him.

To most people who could see through his origins, Ryo looked like a newborn who’d just wandered off.

Though, even adding his pre-transmigration age, he was still a child in the eyes of beings who’d lived for thousands of years.

“Adult?

Aren’t adult Pureblood Dragons three-digit?”

Algol couldn’t help but deadpan.

Ryo paused for a moment, then smoothly changed the subject.

“Never mind my age.

“Oh?

And that ugly hag Athena didn’t come after you?”

A mysterious smile curved at Algol’s lips.

“No wonder I didn’t feel that hag’s eyes on me the moment I came out.”

Athena, as the goddess of wisdom, knew perfectly well that no seal was truly secure.

Sooner or later, it would be broken.

Especially when the sealed being was the Demon Star Algol — who had once fought alone against the gods and demons of three thousand worlds for years on end.

The moment Athena let her guard down, the seal could be broken.

So she always kept a portion of her attention fixed on Algol.

At all times.

Athena: I will always be watching you!!

Always…

But now, something had clearly gone wrong on Athena’s end.

She’d withdrawn her gaze, handed Algol over to that waste Laius, and let her fall into a deep slumber.

The plan had been perfect.

If Shiroyasha hadn’t randomly summoned her, there wouldn’t have been a single flaw.

With that thought, Algol smiled and looked at Shiroyasha.

“Hey, Shiro.

Interested in causing some trouble for Athena?”

“I’ll pass.

I’ve been reformed for a long time now.”

Shiroyasha waved dismissively.

She had no interest.

What grudge did she have against Athena?

Besides, that woman was bad news.

Everyone who’d ever opposed her had failed without even realizing why.

She didn’t want to end up on that woman’s radar.

“Fine.”

Algol shrugged helplessly.

If Shiroyasha wasn’t willing, what could she do?

Honestly, Shiroyasha pretending today’s events never happened was already the best help she could offer.

With that, she shifted her gaze to Ryo — or rather, to Lamia beside him.

Sniff sniff!!

Algol’s delicate nose twitched.

She caught the scent of a bloodline curse on Lamia.

If she wasn’t mistaken, one of the girl’s blood relatives was afflicted with an incredibly dreadful curse.

Otherwise, she wouldn’t have picked up the scent so easily.
