Chapter 20: The Promise Day

Moon Guided Dreamers: A Horror Litrpg

‘Random Boss killed. Level up Available’

Frenley cleans his sword on the grass beneath him. His armor and body were covered in dry red blood, his hair a mess as it stuck to his face. Mia was much the same, rolling her left shoulder as she caught a breather. Risa was the only one who was relatively clean; only the edges of her long robe were covered in blood and dirt. All around them were corpses of small humanoid creatures with two sets of arms and legs. Weird little creatures that could not even speak, their screeching sounded like nails dragging across a chalkboard.

One of the creatures was significantly larger than the others; it was also the only female. With long sagging breasts, another pair of arms, and two extra sets of legs. This marks their second random boss killed of the night, the first one being another kepper in a dungeon. Frenley sighs, reminiscing about the rest day they took yesterday, as they promised. He and Mia went to the old veteran and trained some more; Mia trained mostly on her own. Frenley, on the other hand, asks for training from the old veteran. It was a painful and grueling training session. But he learned as much as he could from the old man.

Risa spent most of the day reading books and talking to people. Gathering information and planning their next course of action. So when Friday night came around, she led them straight to the bosses she knew were there. This was all done in the hope of getting stronger loot to defeat the winter wolf. Frenley was gonna make sure it paid for all the pain it caused the girls.

“Well, babes, that is it for today, the sun is rising. So let's call it quits for today.”

“I agree, hopefully tomorrow we will earn some good rewards.” Frenley said as he put his sword away.

“Talking about tomorrow, want to join us tomorrow at the gym, sweetheart?”

“I think it's for the best for me to sit that day out. It will be awkward for me to be there for you when you are gonna go out on a date right after. “

“That is a good point, sorry for putting you in the spot.” Mia said as she looked at Risa, apologetically.

“It's all good, babe, thank you for asking either way.”

“If you want, maybe you and I can grab a bite together.” The tall woman said with a smile.

Risa's eyes went wide as she looked at Frenley. Frenley was thinking of another thing, only looking in her direction once he felt he was being watched. Frenley raised an eyebrow at her staring. They stared at each other, confused.

“No reaction to that?”

“To what?”

“Mia asking me out on a date?”

“Ah- yeah, no. She and I talked a bit about that in private. We want to take you out for dinner to thank you.”

“Thank me for what?”

“For being you!” Mia said with a large smile. “So I will be with you one day, then the next day you and Frenley. Then all of us together.”

“Huh…what day?”

“You and Mia next Friday, me and you Saturday, and then together on Sunday.”

“I…I am very flattered.”

Risa said, the blush reaching all the way down her neck. She held her staff behind her. She opens her mouth and closes it. Trying to think of words.

“Keep opening and closing that cute mouth of yours, and I'm gonna kiss it shut.”

That seems to send the kitsune into overdrive. As she covers her eyes and disappears. Frenley sighed as he looked at the tall, tan woman.

“You really have no filter.”

“Tehee.”

“Don’t tehee me.”

“hahah love you~ will meet you at the gym!”

“See you later, dear.”

The next second, Mia disappeared from the face of the Earth, leaving Frenley alone with the corpses.

“Ailice have you ever liked two people at the same time?”

‘I am not allowed to have feelings.’

“Figure that was gonna be your reply.”

Frenley said as he brushed his hair to the side. After the incident in the gym, Frenley had much to think about. He came to a horrific realization: he had feelings for both women. Frenley never understood the phrase ‘Too much of a good thing makes it bad’. But now he knew, he liked both of them; there was no mistake. He didn't even know since when or why. But now he was tasked with making a choice.

A choice that will require him to throw away half of his heart. Then live with the consequences of seeing them every day and night. The man was so paralyzed by his current predicament that he searched online for help. In his search for enlightenment online, he came across a term he didn't know. Polyamorous. The idea intrigued him, as it would any guy. Having multiple girlfriends is a dream for any guy. But Frenley had one massive weakness.

“I don't even know how relationships work.”

Frenley was a total beginner when it came to dating or maintaining a relationship. He has seen advice and such online for those things. But never put them into practice. Then there was the fear of just even voicing the idea. One wrong step and he loses both of them, alone again. Such a thought alone sends Frenley spiraling into dark places in his mind. His thoughts were interrupted as he woke up in his room. Frenley looked at the ceiling for a few seconds.

“Alright…enough thinking. Today is the promise day with Mia, and I won't want to ruin it. She deserves to have the best day ever.”

Frenley said as he got out of bed and got ready.

Frenley waited outside the gym, looking at the time. The brief workout session between him and Mia was palpably tense. The two of them could barely look at each other. Frenley was wearing loose black jeans with a dark green collar shirt. He brushed and styled his hair, putting it in a small ponytail as he waited for Mia. He discreetly smells himself again. Making sure he has cleaned the smell of his body completly and if there was any left, his cologne covers it up. He held in his hand a small bag, holding his dirty gym clothes.

“Ah~ sorry, love, hope you didn't wait long.”

“Of course not-”

Frenley stopped talking as he looked at the tall, tan beauty. Mia was wearing a medium-length red skirt with a short-sleeved light pink shirt. Silver earrings hang from her ears, and a small chain with a cross decorates her neck. She wore black leggings to protect her legs from the elements. She had light makeup on. Frenley took his time taking the view, smiling softly, blushing as he did.

“You look beautiful, dear.”

“You look dashing, love, but thank you! For the next date, let's not go to the gym first thing in the morning. I feel so ugly and sweaty even after the shower.”

“Next date?”

“Well, of course, there is gonna be a second one.” Mia grabbed his arm as she led the way. “A third one and a fourth one. Maybe more as well if god allows it.”

“Of course, I would love for more dates to happen. But first, let us finish this one.”

“Haha, of course! Let me take you to this restaurant I know. They serve some real, authentic Latin food.”

“I cannot wait.”

Frenley said with a smile as he let the tall woman lead him. It didn't take them long to reach the restaurant Mia chose. Frenley had never been to the restaurant before. So he let Mia do all the talking as the host led them to a two-person table close to a window. Frenley rushed a bit as he pulled Mia's seat back. Mia smiled at him as she patted his cheek. She sat down, fixing her skirt as she did. Frenley pushes her in before taking his seat right across her.

“You sure are a gentleman, love.”

“I was raised that way, plus I hope you don't mind me going above and beyond for you.”

“Oh no, I won't, please continue doing you~” Mia said, leaning on the table as her hand crept towards his, grabbing it. Interlocking fingers as she looked into his eyes. Frenley smiled at her show of affection, looking into her eyes, his eyes drifting to the necklace and the cross that rested between her cleavage.

“Dear, I hope you don't mind me asking. But you religious?”

“I wouldn't say religious per se, but I do believe in god. Hope you don't mind.”

“I don't, as long as you don't mind me being an atheist.”

“Of course I don't, but you aren't one of those religion haters, right?”

“No, I wouldn't say I am. I am more of a let people do whatever they want as long as they are not hurting people. Sadly, a lot of religious people don't really agree with that.”

“Huh, tell me about it, they give all of us good people a bad name.”

Frenley smiled warmly as he played with Mia's fingers.

“You go to church?”

“Yep, every Sunday around midday. Why?”

“If you wish, I can accompany you on a Sunday.”

“Really?” Mia said, sitting straight up, stars in her eyes. “That will be great, love! Don't worry, my church is very progressive! So I am sure you will feel right at home.”

“I am sure I will.”

The duo’s conversation was cut short when their waiter approached, introducing themselves and giving them the menus. Before leaving and saying they will come back later. Frenley looked at Mia as he drank some water.

“Tell me a bit about yourself, love.”

“Um? I don't think there is much to say. I am a pretty average guy.”

“Haha, okay, how about this. What kind of music do you listen to?”

“I listened to everything.”

“Really?”

“Yep! As long as it sounds good. No matter the language or the genre, I will listen to it. Want to see my playlist?”

“Of course!”

Frenley grabbed his phone from his pocket and unlocked it. He clicked on the music app and turned the phone to show her his playlist.

“Is that a single playlist with 100 hours worth of songs?”

“Yep!”

“…Let me show you mine.”

Mia shows him her playlists: one for every mood, organized by genre and alphabetized. Frenley looks at it with a soft chuckle.

“Hah, well, we differ in that. I don't have the patience to organize my songs like that.”

“So what do you do when you get a song that doesn't match your mood?”

“I listened to it? and if I really don't like it, I just take it out of the playlist.”

“Wow, are all things disorganized in your life?”

“Hell no! On Steam, I got my games organized by genre! I also make sure to check all my notifications and clean them.”

“Thank god you aren't fully crazy then.”

“Haha~”

The duo continues to banter, only stopping when their waiter comes back to ask if they are ready to order. The duo smiled and nodded their heads as they placed their order. The two continued to talk as they waited for their food; they didn't have to wait much. Mia was served black rice with steak, while Frenley got himself yellow rice with chicken. For sides, they got tamales and platanos maduros. Frenley ate with care, tasting each flavor. Washing the food down with some beer.

The two enjoy the time together, eating and drinking. But soon a problem came.

“No, I am paying.”

“No, I am.”

“I was the one who asked you for a date, so I am paying.”

“I am the guy, let me pay.”

“That is an old way of thinking.”

“You can pay for the next one.”

“You lying?”

“Yes.”

“You puto cabron.”

The waiter looked at them with an awkward smile on his face. The two of them looked at each other with serious expressions, both holding their wallets. Frenley's fingers twitched as he looked at Mia, her fingers wiggling. In the next second, both reach for their credit cards to hand to the waiter. But Frenley's nimble fingers got it first, as he presented his credit card to the man, who happily took it to walk away from the couple.

Frenley smiled while looking at a pissed Mia.

“I hate you so much, I literally said I was treating you.”

“Well, the tables have turned now.”

“I am gonna suck the soul out of you.”

“You said that like it is a threat.”

“Ugh…I fucking hate you.”

“Love you too, darling.”

Frenley carried the high of winning as they walked out of the restaurant, arms locked with each other, as the two of them decided to walk around mindlessly. Not even speaking as they enjoyed each other's company. As the two of them walked, Mia poked his side, causing him to look up at her pouty face.

“That was really mean of you, I really wanted to treat you.”

“I know, dear, but please understand I cannot. Call it selfish or old-fashioned thinking, but I have to pay for it.”

“I am not gonna convince you, am I?”

“Nope”

“God dammit, I will find another way to treat you.”

“Haha, good luck, dear.”

The two of them continue walking with their arms locked.

“You know, maybe an evening date was not the smartest thing.”

“Why do you say that, dear?”

“Well, there is nothing really to do, plus you have to meet your friends later.”

“True..but hey, is that music I am hearing?”

“Um? What music?”

Frenley took out his earbuds, cleaned them thoroughly, then gave one to Mia and put the other in his ear. He went to YouTube and played some music, especially Hispanic music. The familiar song played in Mia's ear, causing her to look up at him with surprised eyes. Frenley pulled her away from the path, towards a small park. Frenley spins her around as he speaks softly.

“Mind showing me how to dance to this song?”

“That…that is movie-level shit. You sure you got no experience dating?”

“None.”

“That makes no fucking sense.. but I will happily show you mi amor.”

The couple danced, not caring for anyone who looked at them. Mia showed him quite the dance moves, sometimes explaining what the song was about. Smiles painted over their faces, their hearts beating with each other. Their hands caress each other, and they enjoy each other's scent, warmth, and skin. Multiple times, they came close to kissing, but neither followed through.

Frenley spins Mia one more time, as he holds her by the waist, pushing her body close to his. Their hot breaths brushed against each other. Sweat rolling down their bodies. Mia's words were soft and quiet.

“My apartment is close by, if you wish.”

“Is this the invitation for me to receive my not-so-surprise blowjob?”

“Haha, yes, it is, of course, if you wish. I am not forcing you to say yes.”

“It will be a lie to say I don't wish to experience that… you were driving me crazy at the gym.”

“Um~ then follow me, love.”

The lust and love-struck woman said as she guided him towards her apartment.
