The trio stood in front of a set of ruins, the stone walls poke out of the ground like ribcages. The ruins stood in a semicircle, revealing the height of some of the walls. Frenley concluded that this had once been some kind of tower. But what this ruin was when it was alive is not important. For the beast that lay in the middle of it proved to be something to pay attention to.
The beast was hard to describe: a mass of disgusting flesh, with pieces of cloth stretched to their limits. Multiple arms came out of the mass of flesh. Plague doctor mask decorated the many heads the beast had. Hanging from its heads was a chain holding three crystal vials. Similar to the one they used for their healing and magic potion.
“Talk about grotesque.”
“I need eye bleach after this,” Frenley said as he covered his mouth.
“Man, this is worse than the time I saw a pig give birth.”
“Story time for later, babe. Let's kill this fucking thing, please.” Risa said softly as she readied herself.
“Yes, ma’am.”
Mia walked towards the boss, shield close to her body and her hammer in her other hand. Frenley walked close behind, moving his sword in a circle. Risa walked a few steps behind them, her hands holding her staff tight. The boss notices them as they enter the ruins proper, and the smell of decay hits them. The boss turned to face them, and multiple legs emerged from beneath its large mass. The legs lifted the boss up as it looked at them with its multiple heads.
The hand of the beast began to change; its fingers melted together, forming long, sharp blades of human flesh. The boss's deafening scream begins the fight. Frenley activated his cloak as he rushed from behind Mia. The tall woman slammed her hammer against the rim of her shield, catching the attention of the boss and its first attack. As it swings two of its blades at her. The blades of flesh hit her shield with strength, pushing her feet down into the soft ground.
Frenley reappeared three seconds later next to the boss, mid swing. His sword cut one of the arms off the beast's body. The boss retaliated with an attack of its own, its wound slowly healing up. Frenley dodges backward, causing the attack to miss. But he was not far away to punish it, he aimed his left hand at the beast as he shot his season bolt. The multicolored magic bolt hit the side of the boss, causing multiple chunks of flesh to explode outwards. The ugly burned, and frozen wound healed rapidly before Frenley's eyes.
Mia, on the other hand, delivers a devastating attack at one of the arms attacking her. Causing it to shake, but whatever wound it suffered started to heal in front of her very eyes. Risa, in the back, shoots two moonlight shards at the beast. Each shot landed squarely on the beast's body. Spreading their cold tendrils into its flesh.
The boss seemed to slow down a bit, but whatever regeneration it had, it was slowly bringing it back to top shape. Frenley rushes in again as he slashes another arm clean off the beast's body. Wanting to capitalize on the moment, he turns around and cuts another arm off. But the moment its third arm hit the floor, the boss reacted. Flesh started to boil, and what came out of it was a strong, muscular arm. That lunch straight out to Frenley.
Mia saw this from the corner of her eye as she activated her skill. Teleporting in front of Frenley, shielding her as she took the attack. A shock wave shook her arms as her back crashed into Frenley's body. The man wrapped his arm around her waist to catch her, not letting her fall.
“You good dear!?”
“Better that you if you have taken that punch!”
Mia said as she rushed out of the arms of her lover. Frenley moved out of the way as he shot another season bolt at the beast's large body. Creating another ugly wound on its body. Risa shoots another two moon shards at the beast. The magic penetrated the beast's body, making it slow down once more. Her voice echoes on the battlefield.
“Remember, the more arms we cut, the stronger it gets! Try to reduce the damage taken till the second phase!”
“Trying!”
Mia said as she tanks another attack by the beast's muscular arm, while at the same time dodging attacks by its blade arms. Frenley coats his weapon with magic as he rushes back in, cutting a large, ugly wound on the side of the boss. Causing it to bleed its silky red blood before its wounds started to patch up in real time. Frenley dodges backward to avoid a side attack by one of the blade arms. The boss screamed in anger; the voices that made its scream grew slowly clearer.
“Mask!”
The boss cut off one of its heads, and two small arms grew from its chest and held the severed head. Mia and Frenley looked at the head, trying their best to figure out what it would be. As the green light began to appear from the head's eye socket. The two arms crush the head into tiny pieces. Green liquid coated the two small arms before they retreated back into the body.
Frenley blocks one of the blade-hand attacks with his sword, as another hand attacks him from behind. Drawing a deep wound on his body. The man clicked his tongue as he aimed his left hand at the arm that he was blocking, shooting it straight off with his magic. He ignored the gore and blood that painted his face, turning out of the melee to drink his magic potion.
With some quick thinking, Frenley activated his cloak and rushed towards Mia. The tall girl was still stuck in the melee, her body taking some hits, her shield battered by the constant attacks. Frenley pushed himself as fast as he could. Just as he expected, two green-colored arms shot out from the beast's body, aiming to grab Mia’s shield. Frenley's invisibility drops right as he arrives, and he swings down as he cuts one of the arms clean off. This causes its acid to fall down to the floor and melt some of it away.
Mia pushes the other acid arm to the side with her shield, giving Fren the perfect opportunity to shoot it off with his magic. The boss screams softly in anger and pain, asking for mercy. A long arm, looking almost like a tentacle, grew from the monster's back. The hand spread open its fingers and cast a magical barrier around itself. This blocked two of Risa's magical attacks, but the barrier broke in the process.
“Head!”
The mage screamed as she drank her magic potion. Frenley looked at another set of small arms that held another head. The head started to glow red. Frenley clicked his tongue as he dodged backward. The two arms break the head apart as they retreat back into the body, before appearing in the hand of the magic arm. The magic hand snaps the two arms as the ground beneath them boils with heat. Guisers appear all around them. Shooting hot water into the air.
“AHHH!”
Mia screamed as she couldn't fully dodge a forming guiser; half of her face was burned to a crisp. The red muscle that lay beneath her tan skin became visible. But that didn't stop the tall woman, her teeth grinding against each other as she blocks more attacks from the boss. Frenley rushes towards her, cutting one of the arms that was attacking her.
He stood in front of her as he cut two more arms that came her way. That gave Mia enough time to drink a potion and heal back to full. The woman grabs his shoulder as she pushes him out of the way. Blocking an attack from the new muscular arm that has grown. Frenley's breathing became ragged as he rushed towards the boss. He felt the magical barrier be made again and then broken after blocking two more attacks from Risa.
Frenley dodged the attacks coming his way; he touched his sword and imbued it with magic before pressing his palm to the beast's flesh. Frenley cast a magic point blank; a large explosion threw him off his feet and into the ground. Pain assaulted his brain; his left hand was completely gone, but he didn't care as he rushed forward. He slashes a large, ugly wound where he shot his spell. The fire burns out the regeneration of the beast, while the ice slows it down. Its wound stays open as blood falls out of it like it was a fountain.
The more the boss pushed into its regeneration, the smaller it became. Its screams were nothing more than multiple voices all speaking their truths.
“The sun speaks.”
“Lies can only be seen under shadows.”
“All are touched by light.”
“SHUT UP!”
Risa screams to cover up the voices as the short girl delivers two magic attacks at the ugly wound Frenley created. The ice combines with his magic as it slows the boss down to a crawl.
“Frenley!”
“On it, love!”
Frenley rushed back in, slashing at the boss as fast as he could. Its healing is slowly eating away at the magic that has contaminated its body. Mia delivers blow after blow into the flesh of the boss. Frenley started to get lightheaded; his left hand was still bleeding. His breathing became ragged as he delivered his final attack. He let go of his sword, grabbed his healing potion, and drank it.
His wounds heal in seconds, and he grabs his sword again with his right hand as he delivers another attack. This time, with no magic included in it. Time started to run out as the boss became smaller and smaller.
“Second phase!”
The short girl spoke as she drank her last magic potion. Frenley and Mia took a step back, standing side by side. Sweat running down their faces. Their breathing was visible as they looked at the shrinking boss. Holes litter the battlefield; the guisers have long since seen push all their water out. Smoke came from the boss, covering their vision. Seconds passed until their vision was fully clear.
What stood before them now was something completely different: a humanoid figure wearing a black plague doctor outfit, with three empty crystal bottles hanging from its neck. Bottles of different colors lay on the belt around its waist. Around it lay dead plague doctors; two had their heads missing. Others are missing their arms. Two of the dead bodies had only one arm, the arm was muscular and too big for their bodies. Another one had its legs and arms merge into a single, long arm. With a large hand.
The plague doctor took a green bottle from its belt. The figure held the bottle in its hand as it looked at them. Silence consumes them. Frenley cleans his sweaty left palm on his robes. Mia tightened her grip on her weapon and shield as she looked at the plague doctor.
“Your bodies should be perfect. I shall make you into potions worthy of the gods. As the sacred text dictates!”
Frenley rushes the plague doctor, Mia following close behind. The doctor spits out solid smoke from its mask. Blocking their view for a second. Frenley pushes through the smoke, swinging blindly at empty air. His eyes turned to the side as he saw a charging Mia meet head-on the acid bottle.
The acid started to melt the shield and some of her armor. Her teeth grind against each other, her eyes watering as she delivers a blow to the side of the boss. Frenley rushed to help her, but he was instead met with a red potion that exploded inches away from his face. Sending him flying into a wall. His head hits the wall, and everything goes black.
