The abyss erupted.

Chains shattered violently across the underground chamber as something colossal rose from beneath Moonfang Academy.

Not a creature.

Not a ghost.

A god of darkness.

Its body towered through the collapsing seal chamber like a living nightmare woven from shadow and bone.

Thousands of crimson eyes opened across its massive form while black smoke poured endlessly from beneath its crown of twisted horns.

The mountain trembled under its awakening.

Students above screamed.

The academy bells rang wildly on their own.

And every light inside Moonfang Academy died instantly.

Nyra stood frozen.

Because despite the horror—

The Vein King looked lonely.

Ancient loneliness radiated from the monstrous king like an endless ocean.

Its countless crimson eyes slowly turned toward her.

And softened.

“There you are…”

The voice no longer sounded monstrous.

It sounded tired.

Fenrir staggered weakly nearby, his glowing body flickering like dying moonlight.

The ancient wolf had almost disappeared completely now.

Kael immediately stepped protectively before Nyra again.

Silver flames exploded around him.

But compared to the Vein King—

He looked painfully small.

The Vein King’s gaze shifted toward Kael.

Thousands of eyes narrowing together.

“Still standing between us.”

Kael’s voice remained cold.

“She made her choice.”

The Vein King laughed softly.

A sad sound.

“No.”

Its gigantic form leaned closer slowly.

The chamber walls cracked apart from the pressure alone.

“She is only beginning to remember.”

Nyra’s chest tightened painfully.

The Hollow Flame inside her burned hotter in response to the creature’s presence.

Golden fire spread across her skin again.

The Vein King noticed immediately.

And smiled.

“You feel it too.”

Visions flooded Nyra’s mind instantly—

Darkness before stars existed.

Loneliness stretching across eternity.

Human fear feeding the Vein King’s birth.

Not born evil.

Created.

Created from humanity’s hatred, grief, violence, and fear.

Nyra gasped sharply.

The Vein King’s voice echoed softly inside her soul now.

“I was made from everything humans refused to carry.”

Pain.

Rage.

Sorrow.

Death.

And suddenly—

Nyra understood why balance mattered.

Without darkness—

Light became cruel.

The Vein King continued quietly:

“And you…”

Its countless eyes softened again.

“You were the first human who did not fear me.”

Fragments exploded through Nyra’s mind again.

A young Seraphine standing alone inside the underground seal chamber centuries ago.

Not afraid.

Reaching one hand toward the chained monster beneath the abyss.

“You’re lonely too,” she whispered.

The memory shattered Nyra’s heart.

The Vein King closed its eyes briefly.

Like remembering it too.

Kael’s silver flames flickered uneasily.

“Don’t manipulate her.”

The Vein King slowly looked at him again.

“You misunderstand.”

Its voice deepened slightly.

“I never wanted to destroy her.”

Silence filled the chamber.

Even Kael froze slightly.

The creature’s enormous body shifted painfully beneath broken chains.

“I wanted her to stay.”

Nyra stared silently.

And suddenly—

The truth felt more horrifying than lies.

The Vein King never hunted Seraphine out of hatred.

It loved her.

In its own broken, terrifying way.

The realization shook her completely.

Fenrir’s fading voice echoed softly inside her mind.

“That is why he is dangerous, little flame.”

The Vein King looked toward the dying wolf.

“And you still cling to the old world.”

Fenrir lifted his head weakly.

Silver mist drifted from his dissolving body.

“Because humanity deserves the chance to choose kindness.”

The Vein King’s laughter turned bitter.

“Humanity chose fear.”

Images suddenly exploded across the chamber walls.

Wars.

Executions.

Cursed children abandoned and burned alive.

Villagers hunting monsters while becoming monsters themselves.

Nyra’s breathing became uneven.

Because the Vein King wasn’t entirely wrong.

The Headmistress weakly opened her eyes above the abyss.

“Enough…”

Blood dripped from her lips.

“This isn’t why she was created.”

The Vein King’s crimson eyes slowly turned toward her.

Cold now.

“You used her too.”

The Headmistress visibly flinched.

And Nyra realized—

It was true.

A seal.

A weapon.

A savior.

No one asked if she wanted any of it.

The Vein King looked back at Nyra gently.

“Come with me willingly.”

Darkness curled softly around its massive hands.

Not threatening.

Offering.

“No more reincarnation.”

Kael stepped closer instantly.

“No.”

The Vein King ignored him.

“No more dying in his arms.”

Kael visibly broke hearing that.

Nyra’s chest tightened painfully.

The Vein King’s voice softened further.

“You can finally rest.”

The words nearly shattered her resolve.

Because she was tired.

So unbearably tired.

Centuries of pain lived inside her soul now.

And for one terrifying second—

She almost reached toward the darkness.

Then Fenrir suddenly staggered.

His glowing body cracked apart violently.

Nyra looked toward him in panic.

“Fenrir!”

The ancient wolf smiled softly.

“It’s alright, little flame.”

Silver particles drifted from his dissolving fur like moonlit snow.

“My time ended long ago.”

Nyra’s eyes filled with tears.

“No…”

Fenrir slowly lowered himself painfully onto the shattered seal floor.

And for the first time—

He looked old.

So very old.

“Before I disappear…”

His glowing eyes met Nyra’s one final time.

“There is something you must remember.”

The chamber suddenly went silent.

Even the Vein King watched carefully.

Fenrir’s voice became soft as moonlight.

“The Hollow Flame was never created to imprison darkness.”

Nyra’s golden eyes widened.

Fenrir smiled gently.

“It was created so light and darkness could finally become one.”

The Vein King froze.

Kael’s expression changed instantly.

Realization.

Horror.

Nyra’s heartbeat stumbled.

“What does that mean…?”

Fenrir’s body began dissolving completely now.

His final words echoed through the collapsing chamber.

“You were never meant to choose between human and monster…”

Silver moonlight flooded the room one last time.

And Fenrir whispered:

“You were meant to become something new.”
