The accident happened so suddenly that the audience in the livestream was utterly stunned.

For a moment, viewers could only watch the chaos inside the car unfold in real time. Everyone held their breath, too shocked to speak.

The car was moving at high speed. The driver gripped the steering wheel tightly, his eyes staring blankly at the river ahead.Full novel: Mountain God’s Ghost-Catching Live Stream — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

He had pressed the accelerator all the way to the floor. Amid the chaos, Xu Chen’s mind suddenly flashed to Chu Mingjia.

She told me to stay away from water. Did she know something? Was this accident really orchestrated by Han Fengchen?

The car was getting closer and closer to the river. At this speed, if it plunged in, everyone inside would be in danger.

The producer in the passenger seat reached over and tried to pry the driver’s hands off the wheel. “Driver! Brake, turn around! What are you doing?!”

Xu Chen and his assistant were struggling to open the windows, hoping to escape if the car went into the water. But they found that the windows were locked.

Xu Chen frantically pressed the window switch. “Damn it! What’s going on?!”

The cameraman named Jiang Meng suddenly yanked the camera assistant blocking his way aside, then lunged forward to the driver’s seat. He grabbed the steering wheel with both hands and wrenched it hard to the right.

The driver’s strength was astonishing. Veins bulged on the back of Jiang Meng’s hands, but he couldn’t force the wheel to turn.

Just then, Jiang Meng lifted his head, revealing the eyes that had been hidden beneath his baseball cap.

He had heterochromia, one blue eye and one black. Both pupils burned with a fierce, violent anger as he glared at the driver’s eyes. His voice was as cold as a blade of ice: “Get lost, now!”

The young producer’s face turned pale with fright as she stared at the imposing figure of Jiang Meng. The next second, Jiang Meng wrenched the steering wheel with all his might. The car, whose front wheels had already dipped into the river, let out a screeching sound and made a sharp ninety-degree turn!

Jiang Meng immediately stepped on the accelerator. Finally, after several harrowing minutes, the car crashed into a dirt slope by the river and came to a complete stop.

By then, the driver had passed out. Jiang Meng unlocked the doors, and everyone scrambled out of the car, stumbling and crawling.

The viewers watching the livestream finally dared to breathe, letting out slow, shaky sighs of relief.

【Oh, thank goodness. Our brother is okay. That scared me to death.】

【Our brother’s forehead looks like it’s bleeding. I hope it doesn’t hurt too much. Is that driver crazy? Is he trying to commit some kind of atrocity?】

【I suddenly remembered… can that Mrs. Han really predict things? Or is there some kind of conspiracy behind this?】

The viewers in the livestream still refused to believe that Chu Mingjia could predict the future. They would rather believe it was all a conspiracy by the Han family. After all, Han Fengchen and Xu Chen were the same type of artist, competing for resources. They had even gotten into a fight before, which had made headlines. It was hard not to be suspicious.

However, some neutral onlookers felt that Xu Chen had brought it upon himself. She had warned him. If someone gave you a warning like that, even if you didn’t believe in the supernatural, you would still take a different route, because when it came to these mysterious things, the worst thing was to ignore a warning.

And yet, Xu Chen had dismissed it completely.

The incident immediately trended on social media. Someone edited a complete video, starting with Chu Mingjia warning Xu Chen’s assistant to stay away from water, followed by Xu Chen’s refusal and his instruction to the driver not to take a detour, and then the car suddenly veering out of control and Xu Chen getting injured.

The video shot to the top of the trending charts. In less than half an hour, it had been shared by major influencers, with views and discussions approaching the millions.

Mrs. Han had become an overnight sensation. But Chu Mingjia was completely unaware of this. By the time she woke up, the car had already entered the small town of Qishan. Han Fengchen, sitting beside her, saw that she was awake and immediately leaned in with his phone, lowering his voice. “What exactly happened with Xu Chen?”

Chu Mingjia looked at the phone he handed her and saw the trending topic right away.

She watched the video, then scrolled through the comments.

Most of the comments were fair, largely praising Chu Mingjia for her accurate prediction and saying Xu Chen had gotten what he deserved.

Of course, Xu Chen had a massive fan base. They kept trying to spin the story and smear Han Fengchen, claiming the whole thing was a conspiracy by the Han family.

Chu Mingjia said flatly, “Karma. He knows it himself.”

Han Fengchen was furious seeing all the insults directed at Chu Mingjia. He took out a secondary social media account, avoided the camera, and started furiously reporting the comments.

Meanwhile, the viewers in the livestream were captivated by Chu Mingjia’s words.

【So Sister Chu is saying this was all karma for Xu Chen?】

【Ahhh, I really want to know what happened to that driver. Could it really have been a demonic presence?】

【Qishan never disappoints! Such an explosive start. I can’t wait for the rest of the livestream!】

No one questioned whether this incident was scripted by the production team. Xu Chen’s face was insured. He was a top-tier celebrity, hugely popular, worth tens of millions. No one would dare take a risk with his face.

By the time Xu Chen arrived at Wushi Town, at the foot of Qishan, it was already past six o’clock. Only half an hour remained until the official livestream began.

Xu Chen looked terrible. They had done simple first aid as soon as they reached the town, but medical care here couldn’t compare to that of a big city. Fortunately, no one in the car had been seriously injured. But Xu Chen was very concerned about his face. Even though it was just a gash on his forehead, he had to be careful to avoid scarring.

Xu Chen had always been good at putting on a facade in front of his fans. If this were a recorded show, he would have turned around and gone back to Nancheng by now. But this was a livestream. If he abandoned the show and his livestream audience just because of a minor bruise, he would definitely lose fans and attract criticism. Moreover, this incident would become an indelible stain on his career.

Xu Chen had his agent bring a surgeon and a cosmetic doctor over by car overnight. Meanwhile, after getting his wounds bandaged at the town clinic, he headed to the hotel arranged by the production team with a grim expression.

On the way, the camera assistant noticed the wound on Jiang Meng’s arm. He nudged Jiang Meng, signaling that he should get it bandaged too.

Jiang Meng was tall and muscular. He wore a black baseball cap and a simple black T-shirt. On his left arm, there was a wound about two centimeters long. The bleeding had stopped, but without a bandage, it looked unpleasant. The camera assistant had been working under Jiang Meng for a while, and having just been saved by him moments ago, he felt even more grateful.

Jiang Meng shook his head and said nothing. He simply pulled his baseball cap lower to cover his eyes and gestured for the assistant to focus on filming, after all, they were live.

The camera assistant, Xiao Jiang, felt a bit resentful, mainly toward Xu Chen. This big star really had an attitude. Jiang Meng had saved his life, yet he hadn’t even said thank you. When he went to see the doctor, he hadn’t bothered to suggest that the crew members get treated as well.

Someone like that brought bad luck to everyone around him.

Han Fengchen and the other celebrity guest, a female actress named Luo Mengmeng, had already arrived.

They had eaten dinner and even rested for an hour. Chu Mingjia wasn’t a guest; she sat on a sofa in the lobby, continuing to look up information about Qishan on her phone.

There were many haunted locations on Qishan, and even in this small town, there were some inauspicious places. Her itinerary wouldn’t follow the production team. She planned to leave the bodyguards with Han Fengchen and find a local guide to take her to various sites.

Just then, the show’s director, Zhang Song, who had just finished dealing with Xu Chen’s trending topic, walked over with a smile and sat down across from Chu Mingjia.

“Mrs. Han,”

Zhang Song said with a grin, “is the food here to your liking?”

It was all empty small talk. As the wife of a top-tier wealthy family in Nancheng, what standard did her daily meals meet? And what standard did this run-down hotel offer? Zhang Song knew perfectly well.

He asked only to get closer and make conversation.

However, Chu Mingjia nodded. “It’s very good.”

The food was a local specialty of Qishan, with the taste of home.

This small town had existed a thousand years ago, back when it was still a tiny mountain village. Many of the cooking methods from that time had not been passed down. She probably would never taste them again.

Zhang Song assumed Chu Mingjia was just being polite, but it also suggested that she was easy to talk to.

After hesitating for two seconds, Zhang Song ventured tentatively, “Mrs. Han, if you don’t mind me asking, do you know anything about divination and feng shui?”

Chu Mingjia nodded. “A little.”

Divination depended on the situation, but mountain and river feng shui, she understood that.

Zhang Song’s eyes lit up. “Can you perform exorcisms?”

Chu Mingjia nodded again.

Zhang Song slapped his thigh. “Mrs. Han, here’s the thing. Our production team has run into a problem. The master originally paired with Fengchen can’t make it due to some personal matters. I was wondering, could you possibly help us out? Would you consider joining the show and teaming up with Fengchen for the exploration?”

Han Fengchen, who was sitting nearby, overheard this. “…”

He looked down at the jade bracelet on his wrist, thought about what had happened on the rooftop, and then looked at Chu Mingjia with a hint of hope in his eyes.

Right now, he trusted her immensely. In fact, given the circumstances, he had grown somewhat dependent on Chu Mingjia.

If she could accompany him through the livestream, all the way until the end of the show, that would be absolutely perfect!
