After the shower, Bo Yanching was still asleep, and Nan Jiaojiao didn’t disturb him; she took her phone and went out.
Just as she quietly closed the door, noise came from the kitchen.
“Awake already?”
Shen Shichu, wearing an apron, handed her a cup of hot milk, gently winding a strand of hair on her cheek, “I hardly ever see you sleep in, so I didn’t have the heart to wake you.”
Nan Jiaojiao’s heartbeat skipped a beat.
She looked back discreetly, and asked calmly, “When did you get here?”
“Just now, I made breakfast for you.”
Shen Shichu led her to the dining room, his strides suddenly growing larger as he noticed that she seemed to be wearing nothing underneath her bathrobe.
A man couldn’t stand this; he turned around and pinned her against the wall.
“You little troublemaker, it’s not okay to tempt me like this so early in the morning.”
Nan Jiaojiao was simply going for convenience.
“I have a habit of sleeping naked, it wasn’t intentional.”
She looked up at him, her delicate face radiant and luscious, while Shen Shichu ran his hand back and forth along her chin, his gaze growing darker, the distance between them so close their breaths mingled.
Nan Jiaojiao didn’t dodge.
Shen Shichu suddenly embraced her, his thin lips against her neck as he breathed roughly.
He complained, “You’re really, so naughty!”
It took him a while to catch his breath, and after a deep inhalation, he took her hand again, “Come on, let’s have breakfast first.”
He took a couple of steps before realizing his sleeve had been pulled, turning back to meet Nan Jiaojiao’s eyes, filled with a mix of grievance and reproach.
His heart skipped, and he softened his voice, “Be good, Jiaojiao, don’t be like this.
I’ve said we should save our first time for our wedding night, as a sign of respect for you.”
As he spoke, he adjusted her collar back to the middle and tied her waistband a bit tighter, not wasting a second before pulling her to the dining table.
“The paperwork for that Western City property is all sorted out; I’ll take you there today to check it out.
It might even stimulate your creativity, what do you think?”
He handed her a sandwich, speaking not in a tone of negotiation.
“Not today, I need to go to the police station later.”
Shen Shichu immediately asked, “What happened?”
“Got into a bit of trouble, need to sort it out, give a statement.”
Shen Shichu’s expression soured; he had come here early to please her, all to press her to produce the design drafts sooner.
Otherwise, the Western City project would keep losing money.
He lost his enthusiasm, couldn’t even bother with deep questioning, and after a glance at his watch, said, “That’s unfortunate, I have a meeting at nine.
How about this, shall I have Qiao An accompany you?”
Every time she saw her, she was full of animosity.
Nan Jiaojiao wanted to avoid contact as much as possible, so she declined, “No need, it’s a minor issue, I can handle it myself.”
“Alright then, make sure you eat your breakfast before you go, hear me?”
“Mhm.”
Shen Shichu picked up his coat, just as he was about to leave, a shattering noise suddenly came from the bedroom.
He turned sharply, his dark eyes cold and slightly narrowed.
“Is there someone in the room?”
Nan Jiaojiao maintained her composure on the surface, but her heart skipped a beat.
She looked at him squarely, her expression cold, not showing a trace of fear, “What are you suspecting?”
Shen Shichu was certain she was hiding someone!
He strode toward the bedroom, twisted the doorknob down, ready to push it open when Nan Jiaojiao’s calm voice came from behind, “Is there a man in there?”
Shen Shichu stiffened, suddenly realizing he had overreacted.
However, he still looked into the room, his breath suddenly heavy.
