The air above the White-White Sea tasted of burnt copper and ozone.

At the prow of Merveille, Arthur stood completely motionless, his hands resting on the dual pommels of Oto and Kogarashi.

His black greatcoat billowed gently against the high-altitude draft as his golden pupils tracked the swirling, purple-black storm clouds crowning the ancient forest of Upper Yard.Full novel: Multiverse Sovereign: Beginning in One Piece — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Behind him on the terrace, Buggy was leaning against a marble balustrade, while Merry and the citadel guards stared with wide, anxious eyes at the sky.

Above the ancient canopy, a pillar of blinding, cerulean lightning tore through the heavens.

BZZZZZZZZT—!

The lightning did not merely strike; it condensed.

In a fraction of a millisecond, the electrical current gathered upon the stone balustrade fifty paces ahead of Arthur, resolving into the lounging silhouette of a man.

Bare-chested, draped in orange silks, his long earlobes swinging with heavy golden weights, God Enel reclined on the marble railing as though lounging in a private bath.

Arcs of pale-blue voltage danced across his shoulders, illuminating the lazy, contemptuous smirk playing upon his lips.

“A sovereign?” Enel spoke, his voice dripping with condescending mockery.

“How quaint.

A worm from the Blue Sea drags a chunk of dirt into my sky, and suddenly believes he wears a crown.”

Enel raised his right hand, pointing a single, languid index finger toward Arthur’s forehead.

“You should have stayed in the mud, mortal.

In this realm, there is only one absolute ruler.

And I have grown bored of your presence.”

BZZZZT!

“Sango (Lightning Bolt)!”

A concentrated beam of lightning, thick as a tree trunk and carrying millions of volts of pure electrical destruction, erupted from Enel’s fingertip, detonating across the terrace toward Arthur’s chest with blinding, instantaneous speed, faster than ordinary eyes could perceive!

Merry shrieked in horror.

Makino’s breath caught in her throat.

Arthur did not even blink.

Clang.

With a motion so imperceptible it left no afterimage, Arthur drew Oto by two inches.

A transparent, invisible barrier of Advanced Armament Haki manifested in the air three inches before his coat.

When the lightning struck the barrier, it did not detonate; it was violently repelled.

The concentrated plasma shattered into harmless, crackling sparks that hissed against the stone pavers, leaving Arthur completely untouched.

Not a single thread of his greatcoat was singed.

Enel’s lazy smirk faltered for an infinitesimal fraction of a second, but his supreme arrogance quickly reasserted itself.

“Yahahaha!” Enel laughed uproariously, tapping his golden staff against the marble railing.

“Deflecting lightning with an iron party trick?

Impressive for a Blue Sea mortal!

But you fools never understand the nature of divinity.”

Enel stepped off the balustrade, his body dissolving into crackling, blue-white plasma that flickered through the air with blinding speed.

“You can defend all you like, mortal,” Enel’s voice echoed from every direction simultaneously, resonating from the clouds, the stone, and the air itself.

“You can swing your swords.

You can shout your sovereign titles.

But I am lightning itself!

No blade can cut electricity!

No mortal fist can touch God!”

The electrical current converged fifty feet above the courtyard, Enel’s physical form beginning to coalesce from the lightning sparks with a sneer of absolute invulnerability.

He truly believed he was immortal.

In his isolated sandbox of Skypiea, surrounded by primitive sky citizens and dial-wielding savages, he had never met a user of Armament Haki.

He had never met a warrior who understood the breath of all things.

He believed the universe bowed to his Logia intangibility.

Arthur looked up.

His golden eyes, completely unaffected by the blinding glare, darkened as his True Future Sight activated.

The world slowed to an absolute crawl.

One second into the future: Enel’s left foot would touch down upon the air currents.

Two seconds into the future: the Logia plasma would compress inward, re-solidifying his flesh at his solar plexus.

Three seconds into the future: Enel’s mouth would open to unleash a point-blank burst of sixty million volts.

Arthur’s lips curved into a cold, pitiless line.

“A god who has never bled,” Arthur murmured softly, his voice cutting through the hum of electricity, “is merely a child waiting for the rod.”

BOOM!

The marble flagstones beneath Arthur’s boots pulverized into dust as he vanished.

Enel was still laughing, his chest and torso just beginning to knit together from blue-white lightning into solid flesh.

Then, Arthur appeared directly before his face.

The six-foot-seven British commander loomed over the self-proclaimed deity like a towering executioner.

Arthur’s right fist was drawn back, his knuckles sheathed not in lightning, but in an impenetrable, pitch-black armor of Advanced Armament Haki—imbued with the devastating internal destruction that bypassed external armor entirely.

Enel’s yellow eyes dilated into pinpricks.

For the first time in his life, God Enel felt an icy, suffocating pressure lock onto his physical throat.

His Mantra screamed in raw, unmitigated panic, but his reflexes—sluggish from years of relying on passive intangibility—were hopelessly too late.

‘Wait…’ Enel’s mind froze.

‘He…

he can touch—’

KRA-BOOOOOOOOM!

Arthur’s black-coated fist drove into Enel’s solar plexus with the force of an armored siege ram.

The internal destruction tore through Enel’s diaphragm, shattering his sternum and cracking four ribs on impact.

The shockwave exploded through his spine, blowing the air and a torrent of crimson blood from his lungs in a violent spray.

The sound that left Enel’s mouth was not the proclamation of a god.

It was a pathetic, wheezing gasp of pure, unadulterated agony.

WHOOSH—BANG!

Enel’s body was hurled downward through the air like a cannon shell.

He crashed through the marble pavers of the terrace, skidded three hundred yards across the courtyard, and slammed into a reinforced obsidian pillar, snapping the ancient stone in two before collapsing into a smoking crater of rubble.

Silence descended upon Merveille.

On the terrace, Buggy dug his pinky into his ear, casually flicking away a speck of dust before crossing his arms with a broad, arrogant sneer.

Having sailed with Gol D.

Roger, witnessed Whitebeard in his prime, and just watched Arthur match Hawkeye Mihawk to an earth-shattering standstill, Buggy knew what real apex monsters looked like.

To him, an inexperienced Logia user swaggering around calling himself “God” was nothing more than an ignorant joke.

‘Calling yourself God in front of an Admiral-tier monster?’ Buggy thought, shaking his head with vicious amusement.

‘You half-naked idiot.

You picked a fight with a sovereign who made Hawkeye bleed.

One punch, and your so-called “divinity” is splattered across the floorboards!’

Buggy leaned over the balustrade, barking out a hearty laugh: “Gwahahaha!

A god?!

Gone in a single punch!

That’s what happens when an ignorant frog in a well tries to bark at an Admiral-tier sovereign!”

In the crater, Enel struggled to his hands and knees.

Blood poured from his mouth, dripping onto his bare chest and staining his white headscarf.

His vision swam with black spots.

His heart hammered in a frantic, irregular rhythm as excruciating, burning pain radiated through his shattered ribs.

Pain.

Real, physical agony.

Something he had never experienced in his twenty-five years of existence.

Enel lifted his head, his face contorting into the iconic, grotesque expression of sheer, jaw-dropping horror.

His mouth fell open until his chin nearly touched his collarbone, his eyes bulging out of their sockets as he stared at the calm, immaculate figure of Arthur descending toward him.

“Wh-What…

what are you?!” Enel shrieked, his voice cracking hysterically.

“I am lightning!

I am God!

How can your fist touch me?!”

Arthur walked across the courtyard with slow, measured steps, stopping at the lip of the crater.

His golden eyes looked down upon the broken Logia user with cold, absolute detachment.

“You have lived in a birdcage, Enel,” Arthur’s voice was as sharp and unyielding as an executioner’s decree.

“You wielded a supreme fruit, yet you possessed the discipline of a spoiled child.

You believed yourself a deity simply because the sheep beneath your boots lacked the means to touch you.

Down on the Blue Sea, men with blades cut through mountain ranges, and monsters clad in black will shatter islands with their bare hands.

Compared to the titans of this world…

you are merely prey.”

Enel’s eyes widened in desperate, frantic terror.

He opened his mouth, trying to channel a spark of plasma through his trembling fingers: “Wait…

I am—”

Shing!

Arthur did not give him another heartbeat.

Oto left its scabbard in a single, pitch-black flash of Advanced Armament Haki.

The razor-sharp edge cleaved cleanly through Enel’s throat before the lightning could even ignite.

A clean, surgical decapitation.

Enel’s head rolled onto the stone, his eyes frozen in terror, his body collapsing limp into the crater as the golden staff clattered uselessly against the rubble.

No villainous monologues.

No second chances.

The false god was dead.

Arthur stood over the corpse, smoothly sliding Oto back into its scabbard with a soft click.

From his greatcoat, Arthur retrieved a plain, unblemished apple he had taken from the citadel’s dining stores, holding it loosely in his left hand.

Arthur’s unique body—modified by the divine entity upon his transmigration with the three-core vessel modeled after Marshall D.

Teach’s abnormal physiology—possessed an innate, soul-anchoring gravity.

Combined with the fragments of Devil Fruit circulation records he had deciphered from Captain Roger’s navigation journals in Orange Town, Arthur understood the precise moment a devil sought to depart its deceased host.

By placing an ordinary fruit within his palm and pressing his hand against Enel’s cooling chest, the magnetic attraction of his third empty core seized the fleeing lineage factor, compelling the soul of the Goro Goro no Mi into the apple before it could escape to the wider world.

WUUUUUUM.

The skin of the apple darkened, twisting into jagged, cerulean lightning-bolt spirals, crackling with violent static sparks.

The Rumble-Rumble Fruit (Goro Goro no Mi).

Without an instant of hesitation, Arthur brought the fruit to his mouth and took a single, decisive bite.

Crunch.

The foul, sulfurous taste washed over his tongue, followed immediately by an explosion of divine, celestial power.

Within his spiritual core, the third and final vault—the empty chamber—swung wide open.

The Logia energy rushed into the void, locking into place with a violent, electrifying resonance that caused every nerve in Arthur’s body to sing with raw, undying thunder!

BZZZZZZZZZT!

Brilliant, cerulean lightning crackled across Arthur’s skin, dancing along his golden hair and wrapping around the hilts of Oto and Kogarashi.

Then, the true transformation began.

The triad of divergent devils had converged within a single, abnormal vessel:

Core One: The Zoan of Primordial Vitality — Imperial Pendragon.

Core Two: The Paramecia of Spatial Dominion — Fuwa Fuwa no Mi.

Core Three: The Logia of Absolute Destruction — Goro Goro no Mi.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM—!

A catastrophic qualitative breakthrough detonated within Arthur’s body.

The lightning Logia energy did not merely sit in its chamber; it supercharged his draconic nervous system.

The influx of supreme electrical plasma stimulated his dormant dragon bloodline, surging his Zoan mastery to an astonishing 95%—perched at the very precipice of complete Awakening!

His cellular conduction accelerated to electrical speeds, his reaction time multiplied fourfold, and the sheer destructive density of his spiritual pressure erupted through the atmospheric ceiling of Merveille!

The barrier of his previous limits cracked.

His physical strength, his spatial dominion, and his elemental cataclysm fused into an unbroken, sovereign synthesis, propelling his overall combat potential directly across the threshold of the High Admiral Class!

Arthur took a deep, transcendent breath, the cerulean plasma coiling around his muscular frame like loyal serpents.

“Now,” Arthur murmured, looking toward the sacred canopy of Upper Yard.

“Let heaven witness its true master.”

Arthur closed his eyes and released the seal upon his bloodline.

‘Full Beast Awakening.’

GROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWL—!

The roar that shattered the skies of Skypiea did not sound of this world.

Before the paralyzed gazes of Makino, Kaya, Buggy, and the arriving priests of Upper Yard, Arthur’s body vanished beneath a vortex of incandescent crimson, gold, and cerulean light.

His frame expanded at a terrifying, catastrophic scale.

Ten meters.

Thirty meters.

Fifty meters.

Until a towering, colossal sixty-meter Imperial Dragon coiled into the heavens above Merveille!

The dragon was magnificent and terrifying beyond mortal comprehension.

Its armored scales gleamed like polished rubies bound in gold.

Its serrated obsidian horns stretched toward the sun like an ancient crown.

Four massive, razor-sharp talons hovered above the clouds, each claw larger than a warship’s hull.

And weaving violently along the entire length of its serpentine body was an apocalyptic storm of cerulean lightning, spatial gravity distortion, and black Conqueror’s Haki!

The sky darkened into absolute night beneath the shadow of its wings.

From the forests of Upper Yard, the four priests—Ohm, Shura, Gedatsu, and Satori—collapsed to their knees in the dirt, their weapons slipping from their trembling hands.

The Divine Squad and the citizens of Angel Island dropped to their faces, weeping in reverence before the titan of heaven.

Every warrior fell.

Every priest trembled.

Every citizen lowered their head in the dirt.

Except one.

In the clearing before the ancient ruins, Wyper—the “Berserker” of the Shandians—stood alone.

His knees were shaking violently under the suffocating spiritual gravity descending from the clouds.

Blood leaked from his bitten lip, his knuckles white around his heavy flintlock bazooka.

His body screamed at him to collapse beneath the dragon’s gaze.

But his four-hundred-year Shandian blood—the ancestral oath of the Great Warrior Kalgara—refused to bow.

Wyper glared upward into the heavens, his veins bulging along his neck, his teeth bared in defiant agony as he forced his legs to remain standing upon the soil of his ancestors.

High above, the golden pupils of the sixty-meter dragon narrowed upon the solitary, defiant warrior.

Arthur looked down at Wyper.

And slowly, across the dragon’s massive, fanged maw, a faint, sovereign smile spread.

Arthur did not crush him.

An emperor had no need for ten thousand groveling cowards; he sought unyielding steel.

The fire burning in this savage’s soul was a rare, precious ore worthy of being forged into the Round Table.

The dragon opened its massive maw, exhaling a plume of cerulean lightning that cleaved the cloud sea in two, its voice echoing with the undisputed majesty of a High Admiral Emperor:

“HEAVEN HAS CHANGED HANDS.”
