The gravitational transport platform rose with eerie, vibrationless grace through the dry night air of Sandy Island, leaving the vast dunes of Alabasta far below.

As the platform ascended past three thousand meters, the warm, dust-laden desert breeze gave way to the pristine, arctic chill of the upper troposphere.

When the platform finally crested the dense, artificial thunderclouds cloaking Merveille, four thousand meters above the sea, the world opened into an impossible, breathtaking panorama.Full novel: Multiverse Sovereign: Beginning in One Piece — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

The Straw Hat Pirates stood on the deck of the sky-platform, frozen in absolute, stunned silence.

Above them arched a cloudless, star-drenched stratosphere, so clear and luminous that the constellations seemed within arm’s reach.

Directly ahead rose the majestic, tiered landmass of Merveille—its dark volcanic spires and gold-veined battlements illuminated by the warm, amber radiance of Light Dials.

Crystalline waterfalls plunged from towering cliffs into misty cloud-canals, while the dense, primeval canopies of Upper Yard and the pristine white avenues of Angel Island spread across the floating horizon like an imperial crown.

“I-Is this real…?” Nami whispered, her hands gripping the polished railing so hard her knuckles turned white.

Her cartographer’s instincts clashed violently with the scene before her.

“An entire continent…

an actual airborne continent floating above the clouds!

Look at the stone bridges—those aren’t gold paint, those are veins of pure, unrefined gold!”

“GYAAAAAAAH!” Usopp fell to his knees, clutching his head in wild theatrical panic.

“We’re in heaven!

I knew it!

Crocodile’s sand dried us out, we died in the desert, and now we’ve been dragged to the kingdom of the gods!”

Beside them, Princess Nefertari Vivi and Nico Robin stepped off the platform onto the smooth obsidian flagstones of the southern terrace.

Vivi walked slowly to the edge of the parapet, her eyes wide as she looked through the gaps in the clouds.

Thousands of feet below, the kingdom of Alabasta lay sleeping under the moonlight.

The royal palace, the capital of Alubarna, and the long, shimmering curve of the Sandora River looked fragile, like miniature toys carved in the sand.

A quiet, profound breath left her lungs.

Standing in the heavens, the suffocating anxiety that had weighed on her shoulders for years began to lift, replaced by the arresting clarity of true, absolute sovereignty.

Walking beside her, Robin adjusted the collar of her white coat.

For twenty years, her boots had walked only across damp back-alleys, fugitive safehouses, and criminal dens where every shadow concealed a dagger or a bounty hunter.

But here, breathing the crisp, unpolluted mountain air of Merveille, surrounded by ancient stone and sovereign tranquility, the cold paranoia that had pursued her since the ashes of Ohara settled into stillness.

“It is a breathtaking realm, is it not?” Makino’s gentle voice broke their reverie.

The Prime Minister of Domestic Affairs approached across the terrace, dressed in a dignified dark gown, flanked by Conis and her fellow angel attendant carrying silver trays of warm highland tea.

“Welcome to Merveille, Princess Vivi, Scholar Robin,” Makino greeted them with a graceful bow.

“Lord Arthur has prepared a grand welcome for your arrival into our inner circle, and an imperial feast to celebrate the Straw Hats’ victory in the desert.”

“SUGEEEEEEE!” Luffy’s voice shattered the silence like an artillery shell.

He sprinted off the platform, his sandals slapping the stone at full speed.

“FOOOOOOD!

ARTHUR, WHERE IS THE MEAT?!”

“Luffy, you idiot, have some respect!” Sanji barked, though his own jaw hung slack as his visible eye traced the luminescent sky-fruits, ancient spices, and aromatic herbs growing in the terraced gardens.

“The climate here…

the cellular density of those plants…

what kind of culinary miracles can be cultivated at this altitude?!”

Arthur stood waiting at the entrance to the lower plateau, flanked by Laki and Dr.

Kureha.

Seeing the chaotic, energetic arrival of the young crew, a rare, genuine smile touched the sovereign’s lips.

“Welcome to the heavens, Luffy,” Arthur said smoothly.

“Come.

There are some old comrades who have been eager to see you.”

Arthur led the party down the wide, stepped walkways toward the lower plateau.

Their first stop was the subterranean blast doors of the Prehistoric Biosphere.

As the heavy iron gates parted, a rush of humid, sulfurous air hit the crew, carrying the thunderous, low-frequency growls of apex predators.

“D-D-DINOSAURS?!” Usopp and Chopper screamed simultaneously, leaping into Zoro’s and Sanji’s arms as a thirty-foot Triceratops lumbered past the observation railing, followed by the distant roar of a massive Tyrannosaur.

“Little Garden…” Zoro murmured, his hand resting on the hilt of his sword, his sharp eye taking in the ancient ferns and primeval trees.

“You transplanted the entire jungle into the belly of your continent.”

“A reservoir of ancient biology,” Arthur explained.

“It enriches our ecosystem and serves as a lethal proving ground for our soldiers.”

From there, they ascended to the Round Table Medical Academy.

Within the grand, sunlit laboratory, Chopper stopped dead in his tracks.

Lounging in an armchair before a roaring hearth, swirling a bottle of plum liqueur with sunglasses perched on her nose, was Dr.

Kureha.

“DOCTORINE!” Chopper wailed, tears erupting from his eyes as he transformed into his small hybrid form and charged across the room, burying his face in her lap.

“You’re here!

You’re really here!”

Kureha delivered a swift, affectionate thwack to his blue nose with her knuckles, grinning her sharp, toothy grin.

“Stop bawling, you foolish reindeer!

I’m busy running an imperial academy!

But look at these specimens…

Kaya, show the brat the neuro-regenerative moss we harvested from the upper clouds.”

Kaya knelt beside Chopper with a warm, gentle smile, presenting a velvet case filled with glowing sky-flora seeds.

“Dr.

Kureha speaks of your dedication often, Chopper.

Take these with you.

They will help you brew remedies the Grand Line has never seen.”

As Chopper marveled at the medicine, Arthur led the party back toward the open training grounds.

Suddenly, a pair of booming, volcanic laughs echoed across the mountainside, shaking the very bedrock of the continent.

“GEGYAGYAGYA!”

“GABABABABA!”

Usopp froze mid-stride.

His eyes popped from his skull, his jaw dropping until it brushed the stone.

“T-THAT LAUGH…

NO WAY…

IT CAN’T BE!”

From the southern pine forest, two colossal figures stepped into the lantern light, their massive horned helmets scraping the lower canopy.

Dorry the Blue Ogre carried his hundred-foot longsword across his broad shoulders, while Brogy the Red Ogre balanced a whole roasted dinosaur carcass on an iron spit the size of a galleon’s mast.

“DORRY!

BROGY!” Luffy cheered at the top of his lungs, waving both arms wildly.

“GIANT OSSAN!

YOU GUYS ARE HERE?!”

“Gababababa!

Little Straw Hat!” Brogy bellowed in pure delight, planting his massive battleaxe into the earth and dropping to one knee to greet them.

“It has been too long since Little Garden!”

“Gegyagyagya!

To think we would cross paths with you in the clouds, little warrior!” Dorry boomed with earth-shaking warmth.

Usopp fell flat onto his stomach, sobbing tears of pure, religious worship.

“THE CAPTAINS OF ELBAF!

The legendary Giant Warrior Pirates!

But…

but how?!

Your duel was supposed to last for eternity!”

“Gababababa!” Brogy laughed, slapping his armored knee so hard the shockwave stirred the dust.

“We were ready to split each other’s skulls for the ten-thousandth time, and this monster in black silk drops right between our axes!

Caught our full-power swing with his bare hands like he was swatting a pair of flies!”

“Gegyagya!” Dorry roared, shaking his horned head with a broad, self-mocking grin.

“Then he looked us in the eye and asked why we were trying to kill each other.

And you know what, little warrior?

Neither of us had a damn clue!

A whole century spent hacking at each other in the mud, and we couldn’t even remember we started the fight over the size of a fish!”

Brogy took a massive swig of ale, his booming laugh rolling through the valley.

“Then he drew his blades, cleaved our Hakoku right down the middle, and punched a thirty-meter hole straight through the mountain behind us!

The gods of Elbaf don’t reward fools who rot in the dirt when a true king of war appears.

We packed our barrels, swore our axes to the Round Table, and took to the sky!

Gababababa!”

Zoro stepped forward, his eye narrowing as he felt the colossal, crushing martial pressure radiating from the two titans.

He looked from the giants to Arthur, noting the effortless, absolute authority the young sovereign held over two of the most fearsome legends in the history of the sea.

A fierce, hungry smirk pulled at Zoro’s lips.

He didn’t just fight Hawk-Eyes to a draw, Zoro thought, his swordsman’s spirit roaring within him.

He broke the pride of Elbaf with a single blow.

“Come!” Brogy roared, hoisting the roasted dinosaur carcass high into the air.

“The fires are stoked, and the ale is flowing!

In Merveille, there is enough meat to feed an army of giants!”

With the Straw Hats cheering, laughing, and completely spellbound by the airborne realm, Arthur gestured toward the grand doors of the central palace.

The time had come for the imperial banquet.
