“Andrew, please don’t hate me.
I’ve always loved you, I still do.
It’s just…
some things happened that I never wanted, things I couldn’t stop.
You know, I’ve really wanted to call you, just to hear your voice, to call you ‘Drew’ like before.
But every time I pick up the phone, I lose my nerve.
I’m scared you’ll hate me, scared you won’t answer.”
“Grace, you’re overthinking this.
Sure, we didn’t become a couple, but I’m still your friend.
If you feel like calling, just do it—I’m not gonna hang up on you.”
“Thanks, Andrew.”
Just as I replied to Grace’s message, a call came in from an unknown number.
“Is this Mr.
Anderson?
This is Henry Adams from Anyael Corporation’s Admin Dept.
After discussion with the leadership, we’ve decided to offer you the position.”
Hearing that made me want to leap with joy.
It wasn’t the job title—Marketing Director’s Assistant—that mattered most.
What really got me excited was finally getting into Anyael.
Now I’d have more chances to see Sophia.
At Anyael, Sophia’s the boss, and yeah, in the office I’ve got to act respectful and all.
But honestly, that’s fine.
As long as I get to see her graceful figure walk past me each day, catch a whiff of that signature jasmine scent of hers—I’d be more than happy.
“Mr.
Adams, when should I come in to start?”
“If your schedule allows, you can start as early as tomorrow.”
“I’ll report in tomorrow, then.”
Sophia, my gorgeous goddess—you showing up in my life gave me something to look forward to.
Because of you, I finally understand what missing someone really feels like.
Waiting on someone—that’s a mental battle.
When you’re desperate to see them, time just drags.
That’s me right now, staring at the time, hoping for a call, wishing Sophia’s name would pop up on my screen.
Then, finally, she called.
Sophia was downstairs.
I jogged to the front gate of the complex.
A red BMW 5 Series was parked there.
The tinted window rolled down, and there she was—Sophia in sunglasses, leaning slightly toward the window looking around.
I recognized her instantly.
She saw me too and waved.
The security guard at the gate didn’t miss how I got into a stunning woman’s car—his eyes followed us all the way as we pulled off.
“Ms.
Smith,” I greeted her after hopping in.
“Andrew, just call me Sophia.”
“Okay, Sophia.”
“Did Henry get in touch with you?”
“He did.
Said I could start tomorrow.
I can’t even explain how happy I am.”
Sophia turned slightly and gave me a soft smile.
“What’s got you so happy?”
“Well, your company’s got so many pretty ladies…
working there’s bound to put me in a great mood.
How could I not be happy?”Sophia gave me a light tap on the head and said, “You’re not even at work yet, and all you can think about is checking out pretty girls.”
“Sophia, I was just messing around.
Honestly, what really makes me happy is…”
“What is it?”
“It’s having such an awesome boss like you.
Getting to work for you feels like a real win.”
“That’s the first time I’ve heard one of my employees say something like that.
Probably because you haven’t actually started working with me yet.
The folks at the office call me the strictest boss ever.”
“Being strict doesn’t mean you’re not a good boss.”
“You’ve got a good point.
Sure, I’m tough and demanding when it comes to work, but people in the office still respect and like me.
I’m way more easygoing outside of work.
That’s something they kinda appreciate, too.”
“A great boss is someone the team respects but still wants to hang out with.
Working at your company and having a stunning boss like you—I’d be crazy not to be excited.” I grinned at her as I spoke.
“Andrew, you’re such a charmer.” Sophia giggled, her lips curled up just enough to be dangerously attractive.
I honestly had to control myself from leaning in.
Sophia drove us to this upscale western restaurant with a calm, vintage vibe.
She clearly knew the place well—probably a regular here.
What struck me, though, was how different the atmosphere was from her usual fast-paced, city-girl style.
Nothing about this place screamed “Sophia”—or so I thought.
Once we sat down, she seemed to catch on to what I was thinking.
“Are you wondering why I chose a place like this?” she asked, resting her chin on one hand.
Her gaze was hypnotic—like city lights that dazzle you and leave you dazed.
“Sophia, you’re always so full of life and style…
I guess I just didn’t expect you to go for something so old-school and peaceful.
It’s kinda cool, though.”
“I’ve got a nostalgic side too, you know.
Sometimes I just wanna escape the city noise and find a little peace.
A spot like this calms me down, helps me unload all the stress from work.”
“You’ve got so many qualities that would make any guy fall hard.
Running into you again in this city—it really feels like fate, doesn’t it?”
“Andrew, that night, I wasn’t in a good place.
I was mad, disillusioned with men.
Don’t read too much into it.
Taking you home…
it wasn’t because I liked you.
You were just a way to vent.”
“Sophia, I don’t believe that.
I saw it in your eyes that night—there was love there, not hate.”
“I was lying.
Men fool women all the time.
Why can’t women mess with guys too?
Andrew, don’t get the wrong idea.
You and I?
We’re not meant to be.
Right now, nothing turns me off more than catching feelings for a man.”
