Elena’s POV

She did not walk me to a private lounge.

She walked me into the signing room, where the contract waited at ninety-eight percent complete and Richard Monroe held a pen over the first page.Full novel: My Alpha Sacrificed My Hand for Her, So I Left Him — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Caleb came in behind us with Ivy a half step off his shoulder.

Claire put me at the table instead of the outer line where Caleb had parked me for the cameras.

Richard did not look at the numbers first.

He looked at Claire.

Risk clearance required both Monroe signatures.

“Claire, do we still have risk clearance to sign?”

Claire studied the place-card photo on my sleeve, then the marriage seal thumbnail.

One second.

No argument.

No bargain for later.

No private glance asking him to soft-sell the pause for the room.

“Pause signature,” she said.

“The declared household record does not match the room.”

Richard closed the contract cover.

The pen clicked shut, and every signing screen turned red.

Only then did he face Caleb.

“Mr. Blackwood, explain your marriage. Why is the legal wife listed as a consultant while another woman holds the Luna seat?”

Richard moved his chair so Claire could reach the screen.

She did not have to ask twice or raise her voice.

I watched that small exchange before opening my file.

Caleb’s jaw set.

“Claire—”

“I asked for an explanation,” Richard said.

“Not a speech.”

I stood.

I laid the civil marriage certificate steel-seal page flat beside the closed contract.

Name.

Registration status.

Date.

No address.

Only the part that could not be deleted.

Then the tablet, with the Jubilee clip already cued.

Noah’s voice filled the quiet room, demanding that I divorce his father so Ivy could be his real mom.

The hall fell silent.

The auto-tag identified me as the legal Luna of Blackwood Pack.

Matriarch’s voice followed: “She never lost the legal seat.” I stopped the clip on the frame that held my face and the tag.

Third: the accident frames.

Remote purge override.

Silver-mist release.

I set the pages down without turning them into a speech.

I added the two banquet place cards last, and played Caleb’s line from the toast circle once, clean and short.

“This is the partner who will stand with Blackwood publicly.”

Ivy’s smile froze on the recording.

Then I turned the volume off.

“Excuse me,” I said.

“You’ve got the wrong woman.”

Claire’s counsel leaned in.

Blackwood’s counsel went still.

Caleb did not move.

“The legal wife carries the plagiarism and the silver burns.” I touched the accident frames, then the marriage page.

“The false wife receives the Luna seat and the launch credit.” I set the reserved Luna card next to Ivy’s empty air.

“That frame proves tampering, silver exposure, and project risk. It does not prove authorship. I will not give them that opening.”

Ivy’s eyes went wet on cue.

“This is a private misunderstanding between friends,” she said, soft enough to sound injured.

“I never meant—”

“Then why is our misunderstanding printed on your Luna seat?” I asked.

She looked at the card.

The print did not cry for her.

Caleb’s Alpha pheromones exploded through the room, burnt cedar and ozone driving two junior aides to their knees.

His eyes bled pure gold, cutting to me with a silent command: *Submit.

Sit down.

Be mine.*

My wolf slammed against my ribs, answering force with teeth.

I kept my throat covered and my eyes level.

The glove on my right hand stayed flat beside the image of the burn.

He could crush the air.

He could not crush the paper.

Claire lifted two fingers.

PAUSE struck the first page, and valuation and supply froze with the signature.

“Nothing moves until the marriage and project questions are answered,” Claire said.

Richard stood.

He did not say Caleb.

He did not use the first name that had sat across deal tables for months.

“Mr. Blackwood, we may discuss cooperation another time.”

The main display above the table dropped from 98% complete to a single red word.

SUSPENDED.

Claire’s counsel sent the suspension to both sides before anyone left the table.

Caleb’s phone began to ring. The source of this chapter is g.com.

He silenced it.

It rang again.

Ivy wiped a tear that never quite fell.

Caleb’s hand closed once on the chair back hard enough to stress the wood.

Richard set down his pen and left the red word burning over the first page.

“Mr. Blackwood,” he said again, quieter, final.

The contract lay closed under the stamp.

The freeze held.

Outside the glass, toast music still played for a couple that no longer had a room to sign in.

Caleb’s POV

Richard called me Mr. Blackwood and left the red SUSPENDED burning over the contract.

The elevator doors shut on the signing floor noise.

I hit the button for Elena’s suite level before the car could drop.

She stood against the opposite wall with the silver-lined glove flat on her bag strap.

No apology.

No fear face.

Just waiting for the floor.

“You froze valuation, supply, and signature in one room,” I said.

“Ivy is already looking for an exit route. Stock pressure hits at open. You own all of it.”

“Two conditions,” she said.

“Miss either one, and I do not enter that ballroom.”

The doors opened on the top floor.

She walked into the suite ahead of me and wrote two demands on the hotel letterhead.

Final decree, independently verified.

Remaining settlement assets transferred today, irrevocably.

She pushed the paper across the glass.

“File and fund both,” she said.

“My counsel verifies the decree directly. Then I give Claire two hours to discuss the household record. No endorsement of Ivy. No withdrawal of my claims.”

I read the two-hour limit twice.

She had put a departure time on the page before I had agreed to let her go.

“Without this alliance, you will never get your divorce.”

“Without a final decree, you will never get your dinner.” Her eyes did not leave mine.

“I learned from you.”

Elena dropped the mic!

But an Alpha never just “gives up”.

What crazy stunt will Caleb pull to trap her?

And what is his wolf really feeling as she walks away?
