Time passed quickly, and just like that, a week went by amid all kinds of training.
Several major events occurred during this week.
First, led by Country M, a number of nations began to widely spread rumors that China was secretly conducting anti-human experiments, calling for sanctions against China. Their so-called “evidence” consisted of photos and videos of beastly transformed ability users.
As for how those photos and videos were leaked — it was purely an accident.
At the time, the S Military Region’s ability training branch was conducting a midweek test. The test location was a highly secretive island — one that did not belong to any country, as it sat in the middle of the Central Sea and was extremely remote. China’s discovery of it had been purely coincidental.
Logically speaking, it was supposed to be completely secure — and in truth, it was.
But an accident occurred: during training, a cruise ship suddenly appeared near the surrounding waters. The reason it was there was because it had been caught in a storm at sea. When it finally broke free of the storm, it realized it had drifted far off its original course and accidentally ended up near the island.
After sending out a distress signal, the people aboard became curious about the island. Some wanted to go ashore to explore, but the captain, fearing danger, instead sent a drone. That’s right — the captain happened to be a tech enthusiast and had collected many of the latest drone models.
The cruise ship was docked on the opposite side of the island from the training ground. So, when the captain sent out the drone to investigate, the trainees at our camp didn’t notice anything unusual.
Because the training sessions often involved drones for real-time skill data collection, everyone was already used to drones hovering nearby. Thus, when another drone appeared, no one realized it wasn’t one of ours.
As a result, photos and videos showing ability users “transforming into beasts” were captured. Country M and its allies immediately claimed that these scenes were proof of China’s anti-human experiments — mainly because China had refused to become their subordinate. In addition, the “subjects” in the footage were all Chinese soldiers.
Everyone knew China’s military was highly disciplined, and it was impossible for soldiers to travel abroad privately. Therefore, these “experiments” had to be sanctioned by the state itself — and with scientists visible in the footage, the narrative seemed complete.
In response, we once again publicly announced that a great tsunami was imminent. The soldiers’ beastly transformations were a manifestation of humanity’s latent potential being stimulated — an unstable phenomenon for now.
As for how to awaken this potential? We threw people onto undeveloped islands — either awaken or die. The choice was theirs.
Of course, that sparked another outcry: “China’s military is too cruel!”
But regardless of what others said, our S City’s training branch had already ignited a global wave of “internal competition.”
Next, China issued another official order — recalling all Chinese citizens overseas. To resist the coming tsunami and protect every citizen, all overseas Chinese were ordered to return home by June 7, including all diplomatic staff. Beginning June 8, all inbound and outbound travel would be completely halted.
Likewise, all foreign nationals within China were required to leave the country before June 7.
China would officially enter a state of complete isolation.
This news shocked the entire planet. Many countries speculated that China’s “lockdown” was just a cover-up for its alleged anti-human experiments, calling for international sanctions.
But China’s only official statement was: “Everything we do is in preparation for the coming tsunami.”
No matter what other countries thought, we continued following our plan step by step.
Finally, after a week of nonstop work, all military, police, firefighters, top officials, and researchers had completed their doses of the primary gene potion. In other words, the potion was now ready for nationwide rollout.
Conveniently, the video spread by Country M became a free global advertisement for the gene potion.
On June 8 — the day China officially sealed its borders — the primary gene potion was made available to the public. However, not everyone was qualified to buy it.
Regarding qualification, during this period, Mo Xiaobai’s merit points had skyrocketed again. The military, police, and firefighters had been earning her massive merit points through their work. So she decided to use those points to exchange for a new resource — the Eye of Good and Evil.
She exchanged for ten in total, spending 5 million merit points — her current limit. Fortunately, with the potion’s nationwide release coming, more merit points would soon flow in. The reason she exchanged for the Eye of Good and Evil was precisely to prepare for this public rollout.
The Eye of Good and Evil could directly judge a being’s moral alignment — good or evil. Before deployment, the research institute conducted extensive testing, finding its accuracy rate to be 99.98%. Even individuals who hid their psychological disorders extremely well were accurately identified as “evil.”
According to the system’s little Fuwa, the Eye of Good and Evil was a product of a highly advanced civilization specializing in the study of causality — not a technological creation, but something closer to what we’d call “mythic.”
When preparing for the nationwide promotion of the primary gene potion, the greatest concern was that some ill-intentioned ability users might disrupt society. Thus, the Eyes of Good and Evil were redeemed first.
Ten major cities across China were designated as official distribution centers.
Each center was equipped with an awakening chamber, and all who awakened their abilities were required to register and be grouped immediately, then transported to the nearest training camp for ability training.
In other words, the use of the gene potion and the management of new ability users were extremely strict. Anyone attempting to use special privileges to privately trade the potion or conceal their awakening would be treated as committing treason.
Fortunately, the Chinese public accepted this well — everyone understood it was all for survival and for the nation.
Indeed, after closing its borders, China publicly released the foresight video predicting the massive tsunami on June 21. The official statement said that all scenes in the video were based on satellite monitoring and expert calculations — a projection of the real disaster to come.
It also warned that after the tsunami, widespread epidemics and ecological shifts might occur, followed by further natural disasters. Therefore, everything was being done for the sake of survival.
Everything proceeded in an orderly, controlled manner.
All newly awakened ability users brought to the training camps were trained differently from the original military personnel.
Since these new civilian awakeners didn’t know each other and were less obedient to commands, the first day was devoted to theoretical lectures — explaining what abilities were, how to use them, and related fundamentals.
On the second day, graduated military ability users performed demonstrations and duels, inspiring awe and ambition among the newcomers.
The third day was for internal selection.
Everyone was randomly grouped — one hundred per team — and within each team, they battled until only the winners remained. The winner became captain, the runner-up became vice-captain.
These two enjoyed better accommodations, superior training, and priority in claiming rewards during team competitions.
Captains and vice-captains could also be challenged — anyone who defeated them could take their place. The loser had to give up half their resources to the victor.
The first round of battles was incredibly fierce.
Those who were usually physically strong but whose abilities weren’t suited for combat were quickly overwhelmed — grudges were settled on the spot.
Some teams descended into chaotic brawls, where even the most famous fell first. Others banded together strategically — eliminating outsiders first, then deciding leadership internally.
Most surprisingly, one team chose an entirely different approach: they calmly sat down and held an election for captain and vice-captain.
It was both absurd and amusing — but also the perfect way to see each person’s potential.
The research institute’s ability specialists and military leaders monitored the entire process closely, selecting outstanding talents.
In the following days, besides ability training, participants also learned what it meant to be a qualified soldier.
Upon graduation, they could freely choose to join any military region or government department — or even certain private organizations (which were actually still state-controlled, just operating with greater flexibility).
Countries led by M criticized China’s policies as violating human rights.
But in chaotic times, harsh laws are necessary — otherwise, great power will only breed greater desire, and once desire turns astray, it will bring irreversible devastation to the entire Blue Star.
