Luca was only with one person in front of the manager’s apartment unit, so it was easy to guess that the question came from Finn.
His secret had been revealed for no reason to a stranger, and he gritted his teeth in anger even though he knew that he couldn’t blame the female manager for accidentally exposing his personal life.
He then took a deep breath to calm himself down before turning his body, and he faced the taller man before replying, “I’m already kind enough to help you here, so you should be grateful instead of starting to interrogate me.”
“I’m not interrogating you, and I asked out of concern!
I thought you agreed to help me because you’ve started to open up to me!”
“Why should I open up to you?
I’m helping you because I know that you’ve been late for your work because of what I did to you.
You’re nothing more than a stranger to me.”
“What do you mean I’m nothing more than a stranger to you?
We’ve known each other for two months, so we should at least be friends, right?”
“We’ve known each other for almost two months in the game, but you have to remember that the game isn’t real.
Our interactions there aren’t real either, and we’re just strangers in this real life.”
Finn was about to open his mouth again, wanting to refute what Luca had just said, but he was forced to swallow his protests when the door to unit number 1 was opened from the inside, revealing the female manager once again.
“Now I know that I misunderstood the situation here.
Weisman doesn’t work for the Food Supply Department, he’s just helping this blonde do his job.
I already understand the real situation, so can you two stop bickering right in front of my door and let me eat my lunch in peace?
Or do you want me to kick your annoying asses?
You two look like an old married couple who keeps bickering over trivial matters!”
“…”
Both Luca and Finn were silenced by the female manager’s scolding.
The door in front of them closed once again, but this time with a loud bang.
They glanced at each other silently, but then looked away again.
“Let’s go to the next door.
I still have to go back to the Food Supply Department building for the next batches of delivery,” Finn’s voice broke the silence between them.
“What do you mean you have to go back for the next delivery?
You mean you have to go back and forth between this building and your workplace just to distribute lunches?” Luca asked, frowning at the blonde.
“That’s right.
I have to go back and forth to complete today’s delivery,” Finn replied, looking at the shorter man.
“The metal box attached to my motorbike can only hold thirty lunch boxes, so I have to go back and forth four times to complete my task.
That’s why we have to finish our work quickly so that I won’t be late in distributing all the lunch boxes.”
“Why doesn’t the department let you drive a car so that you don’t have to go back and forth?
They must have cars, right?” Luca asked again.
“They have cars,” Finn answered again.
“But a car would require more electricity to operate, and that’s why I was ordered to ride my motorbike instead.”
“But your motorbike would also require more electricity if you were to constantly ride it back and forth four times a day.
Do you realize that?”
“…” Finn’s mouth dropped open at Luca’s question, probably just realizing the fact he had been ignoring all this time.
However, he suddenly laughed dryly before replying, “What you said isn’t wrong, but I also wouldn’t drive a car even if the department assigned a car to me.
“…” Luca looked speechless, and he really wanted to tear the man’s lips so that he couldn’t smile stupidly anymore.
In the end, he could only take a deep breath to calm himself down before angrily turning his body, but then he heard the other man speak again, “I’m glad that you’re worried about me, Wolfie.”
Luca was a little stunned by the sudden gentleness in Finn’s tone, and he even glanced at the man standing behind him, only to find that the man was smiling meaningfully at him.
He was so dazed by the smile that he didn’t immediately respond.
However, he quickly regained his composure as he finally replied, “I’m not worried about you!”
The annoyed expression on his face was apparent, but Finn once again laughed despite receiving the denial.
He no longer tried to stop Luca as the raven-haired man moved to the next apartment unit, and he let the man distribute the lunch boxes in his hands to the residents.
It just so happened that four people were living in that unit, so all the lunch boxes in Luca’s hands had been taken.
They then moved to another unit, and after going to several doors, Finn only had one lunch box left in his hands.
Seeing that, Luca asked him, “Shall we go back to your motorbike now to get more lunch boxes?”
Finn stopped walking, and Luca stopped beside the man.
The man then replied, “I’ll go back to my motorbike after this, but for now, you better take this.
Go back to your apartment and eat your lunch in peace.”
Finn’s hand holding the last lunch box reached out towards Luca, but Luca didn’t immediately accept the disposable lunch box.
Instead, he asked, “Why did you ask me to come back to my apartment?”
“It’s because I have another idea about how you should take responsibility for making me late to finish my work today,” Finn replied, and when he saw how Luca frowned in confusion, he continued, “I left my dirty uniform at your apartment, and I want you to wash it for me.
I’ll pick it up next Monday, okay?”
Luca had just realized that he had been tricked by Finn.
