Chapter 19: The Abyssal Sepulcher

My Calamity-Tier Villainess Hate Me

Ten hours passed like a single breath.

I opened my eyes to the faint, purple moss-light of Floor 2. My head was still resting on Valeska’s warm, unarmored lap, her long crimson hair draped over my shoulders like a blanket. My mind felt completely clear, my Aether pool sitting at a pristine, fully rested 1,200 points.

A soft hand tapped my shoulder.

"Wake up, mortal," Valeska’s voice came down, calm and even. "The forty-eight hours are up."

I sat up, stretching my arms as my joints popped with satisfying cracks. "That was... the best sleep I’ve had since I got summoned to this world."

Valeska stood, her visor re-materializing over her face in a burst of crimson sparks. She buckled her collarplate back into place, her six-foot-two obsidian frame standing tall against the darkness. Her greatsword materialized in her hand, the black steel humming with quiet readiness.

"Floor 3 is open," Valeska said, her featureless visor turning toward the far end of the melted mausoleum. "Prepare yourself."

RUMBLE!

Across the room, the massive, ancient stone gate began to grind. The glowing purple glyphs that had sealed the door for two days dissolved into dust, and the towering stone doors slowly creaked inward, revealing a dark, downward shaft.

I drew my dual katanas, feeling the cold weight of the steel in my grip. My muscles, refined by thirty-five hours of non-stop training, felt light and responsive.

"Let’s see what’s waiting for us down there," I said.

Floor 3 was not a mausoleum. It was a cathedral of horrors.

The air rising from the stairwell was so thick with rot and dark Aether that my skin stung on contact. The walls were not made of stone or petrified bone—they were composed of living, black organic tissue that pulsed softly, weeping thick, viscous black blood onto the floor.

[LOCATION: Sunken Crypt of Erebos (Floor 3 - Abyssal Sepulcher)]

[WARNING: Extreme Decayed Aether Density!]

[Warning: Ancient Abyssal Amalgams Detected!]

The floor beneath our boots was a lake of shallow, black sludge. Sarcophagi did not line this hall; instead, massive, chitinous cocoons hung from the vaulted ceiling like swollen fruit.

THUD! THUD! THUD!

Three of the cocoons split open, spilling their contents onto the floor twenty feet in front of us.

What stepped out of the black sludge were not husks. They were grotesque, nine-foot-tall Abyssal Amalgams—creatures composed of multiple fused skeletons, wrapped in layered, hardened black chitin. They had no eyes; instead, four weeping, split jawlines covered their torsos, each lined with spinning, needle-like teeth.

They held colossal, three-pronged halberds carved from dark, fossilized bone.

"They’re different," I muttered, dropping into my low combat stance, my dual katanas angled forward. "The energy coming off them is way denser than Floor 2."

"Do not let them surround you," Valeska warned, her visor glowing dark red.

The first Amalgam moved.

It didn’t just lunge. It executed a three-stage martial sequence—a low sweep with its halberd to force me to jump, followed by a mid-air thrust from its secondary arm, while its torso-jaws opened to spray a cloud of corrosive black mist.

A complex, layered combination.

’I see it!’

Thanks to my 35 hours of training and [Adaptive Resonance], my body reacted automatically.

I didn’t jump. I stepped into the sweep, using the 6-bone footwork Valeska had drilled into me. My right katana deflected the halberd’s shaft—Lan—while my left katana drove upward in a sharp, rising stab—Tiao—piercing the creature’s lower jawline.

"Ashen Pulse!"

BOOM!

The short-range kinetic shockwave exploded inside the creature’s torso. Black blood and shattered chitin sprayed across the sludge, and the Amalgam stumbled backward.

Without pausing, I pivoted on my heel, channeling 50 Aether into my gauntlet.

"Ashen Cleave!"

A three-foot crescent blade of black kinetic fire shot out, severing the Amalgam’s left arm and cutting deep into its chest. The creature collapsed into the sludge, black fire eating its torso.

I turned, feeling a surge of confidence. ’My movements are clean! The training worked!’

My confidence lasted exactly three seconds.

SWOOSH! SWOOSH! SWOOSH!

Five more Amalgams dropped from the ceiling, landing in a pentagram formation around me.

They didn’t fight individually. They activated an ancient, synchronized combat formation. Two of them drove their halberds into the ground, creating a wall of black, calcified bone that locked me inside a ten-foot ring. The third and fourth swung their halberds from opposite sides, while the fifth lunged from above.

A complete, inescapable death trap.

I tried to block, crossing my dual katanas above my head.

BOOM!

The combined force of three heavy halberds slammed into my guard at once. The impact was astronomical—far beyond anything Floor 1 or 2 had offered.

My katanas held, but my knees shattered under the weight. I was driven into the black sludge, my chest caving in as three ribs snapped at once.

"Gah!" I spat a fountain of blood, my vision swimming.

[CRITICAL DAMAGE DETECTED!]

[Endless Resilience Active: Bone Repair Engaged...]

Before my trait could finish mending my legs, the Amalgams executed their second sequence—their torso-jaws opening simultaneously, preparing to shred my pinned body into meat paste.

’Fuck these shit ass things,’ my brain screamed as my body failed to move. ’Their structure is too heavy!’

"Back," a voice echoed through the dark hall.

A wave of black fire swept through the bone ring, vaporizing the calcified walls instantly.

Valeska stepped into the center of the trap. She didn’t look at me. Her six-foot black greatsword was held horizontally in her right hand, her visor burning with an intense, apocalyptic crimson.

"You did well to survive the first sequence, mortal," Valeska said, her voice shaking the organic walls. "Now... step back."

The five Amalgams immediately shifted their formation, turning their four-jawed torsos toward Valeska. They recognized her as the primary threat.

All five drove their halberds into the ground at once, unleashing a joint Aether barrier—a towering wall of hardened, dark-purple bone-chitin that sealed Valeska inside a thirty-foot cage.

Valeska raised her greatsword and delivered a standard, heavy downward slash—the same slash that had obliterated Floor 2.

BOOM!

The black flame wave detonated against the bone-chitin wall.

The barrier cracked, but it didn’t break.

The five Amalgams channeled their collective dark Aether through the wall, reinforcing the chitin. The shockwave bounced back, catching Valeska mid-recovery and forcing her backward three full paces, her armored boots gouging deep trenches into the black sludge floor.

I gasped from the sidelines, clutching my mending chest. ’She got pushed back?!’

Valeska stood in the sludge, her six-foot-two frame steadying.

For a second, the hall went dead silent.

Then, Valeska’s visor flared with a crimson light so bright, so utterly terrifying, that the black blood on the floor began to boil away into steam.

She was done using basic strikes.

Valeska reversed her grip on her greatsword, planting the tip of the six-foot blade directly into the organic floor.

A silent, pitch-black aura expanded outward from her feet—a sixty-foot sphere of absolute, suffocating darkness. The moment the domain opened, the ambient noise of the crypt died. The dripping blood stopped falling in mid-air. The wind froze. The kinetic energy in the room was forcibly locked in place.

Valeska drew her sword from the floor.

Three concentric rings of black, spinning fire ignited along the length of her blade, compressing tighter and tighter until the steel itself seemed to warp space around it.

She didn’t run. She didn’t charge.

She simply stepped forward and executed a seven-fold combination slash—a series of movements so blindingly fast, so impossibly fluid, that it looked as if seven identical versions of Valeska had attacked from seven different angles simultaneously.

SWOOSH-SWOOSH-SWOOSH-SWOOSH-SWOOSH-SWOOSH-SWOOSH!

Seven black, spatial tears opened in the air across the five Amalgams and their bone-chitin barrier.

For a heartbeat, nothing happened. The five Amalgams stood frozen in their combat stances.

Then, space itself snapped back together.

BOOM-BOOM-BOOM-BOOM-BOOM-BOOM-BOOM!

Seven delayed, apocalyptic kinetic detonations exploded simultaneously inside the creatures’ bodies.

The five nine-foot-tall Amalgams, their bone-chitin barriers, their fossilized halberds, and the organic walls behind them were instantly obliterated into a cloud of atomic black dust. The shockwave tore down the entire hall, blowing away the black sludge and leaving behind a hundred-foot crater of smooth, black glass.

Silence returned to Floor 3.

Valeska stood in the center of the glass crater, her greatsword resting casually across her armored shoulder, black embers drifting from her cape. She hadn’t even lost her stance.

I sat on the edge of the crater, my dual katanas resting on my knees, my mouth hanging open in complete, stunned awe.

’WTF! What the fuck did I just see?!’

Valeska turned her featureless visor toward me, her red slits burning in the dark.

"That," Valeska said coldly, "is how you execute a combination, Kaelen Cross. Now get up. We have a floor to clear."
